I had this professor in college that didn’t like to say “bless you,” so he said that every semester he asks each class what they’d like to say when someone sneezes. So he randomly asked this one guy what we should all say when someone sneezes & the guy said “I don’t really care,” as in like he didn’t care what we said when someone sneezes. So from that point on, for the next 16 weeks, when someone sneezed in class the professor looked at them completely straight faced and said, “I don’t really care.”

Honestly being overworked makes people unobservant and passive and it literally kills people every day. People don’t seem to realize that an overworked nurse might not notice your sepsis symptoms and a tired truck driver might not notice your car when he’s merging into the lane. I can never go back to the pre-covid no mask way of living bc i woked in a shop through the pandemic and developed the most grotesque, exaggerated way of smiling to offset my angry eyebrows that is so obviously not my natural smile and if i do that without my mask its kinda evil looking but is necessary so old people dont tell me to cheer up

US First responder here, Just some info for folks, you only get billed if a private ambulance company or a fire department transports. The medical service provided by your local fire department or FD/municipal paramedic is free. Call us when something goes wrong, We will show up and evaluate you/provide care (stop the bleeding, splint the injury, administer epinephrine) free of charge, And then you can have a friend or uber transport you to the hospital (or sign AMA and just stay home if you don’t want to go to the hospital either.)

Also, in a large number of counties, there are public paramedics paid for by the taxpayers, so ALS transport is free. I’d advise researching your local system.

Please don’t avoid calling 911 for a medical emergency because you’re afraid of bills, you have the right to refuse transport which is where the bills occur.

I have to repeat, you will NOT be billed for medical services provided on scene by the fire department/paramedics, And you have the RIGHT to refuse transport even if not going to the hospital will kill you.

Had to take a bunch of CPR and first aid classes for my job in college. This is what the paramedics who taught us told us every class. Always call the fire department first because they’ll help you but won’t change you thousands of dollars because we pay for them through our taxes.
