I feel like people don’t take Samus Aran seriously enough

okay okay, personal rant but it seems like people don’t take Samus seriously in gaming fandoms as a strong female lead

people either act like she is gooner bait, or they MAKE gooner bait material of her (I won’t act like I don’t draw her looking hot but AT LEAST I give her muscles and try to make her look strong)

Samus is so much more than that and honestly I feel like she could fight most video game protagonists (female and men) and win

and then there’s the whole “Metroid is about motherhood” sentiment

anyone who says this has clearly no understanding of Metroid as a franchise or Samus’ character

sure some games do show Samus’ compassion towards the baby, BUT I don’t think motherhood is a major theme in any Metroid game

it feels as though people are boiling down who Samus is as a character to fit their preconceived notions about her and women in general

I really think Samus Aran should be recognized on the level of Ellie Williams in the Last of Us Two or even Lara Croft, because she is and honestly I think she is stronger than both of them considering her Chozo DNA

and honestly that’s also why the whole motherhood thing pisses me off too because Ellie adopts JJ (for a bit) in the last of us two AND NO ONE was saying that game was about motherhood

it’s just ridiculous, people need to put some respect on Samus’ name

it's been eight months since i posted my second law of talos iceberg for public eyes, so u know what that means: revision

this time, the revisions r more centered around rearranging entries from well-known to unethical and obscure; i still added a few entries of my own but some of them (ex. eric's parents r dead, a theory i came up with in response to another theory i saw on discord) r theories i either stumbled upon somewhere on the internet (discord primarily) and augmented or fabricated entirely on my own

also, if i have to redo this one more time, i will be PISSED, this SHOULD be the final version and it SHOULD be accurate enough, but corrections from yall wouldnt hurt either

every day that goes by i despise the zero suit a little bit more tbh

like it's fine in a vacuum, it's a cool piece of sci-fi tech that works with her power suit

but for most average non-metroid fans all they know about samus is that she's the sexy lady in the skin-tight suit from smash bros and that's reflected in pretty much every 'fandom' space available for metroid. The overwhelming majority of metroid fics on ao3 are smut where samus is nothing more than a sex object for the reader to jerk off to and it's just so disappointing as someone who deeply cares about her character.

Can't I have smut that also treats her with the interiority she deserves? or do i not get that because she makes your willy hard and you don't need her to be anything deeper than that so you never bother trying.

problem is there probably IS smut that treats her character with dignity but i'll never find it cuz it just gets drowned out by the overwhelming reduction of her to a bimbo barbie doll

idk it's just really gross. i'm probably blowing this out of proportion but sometimes it just feels like i'm screaming into the void on this issue. none of you understand her like i do. putting her up on the shelf until you learn how to treat attractive female characters with respect
