I like that Axel wears makeup. at first i thought it was weird and forced but hes really like that. he wants to be pretty and to be looked at

i think its funny Axel's character arc just gave him the best time on the island... like no thanks he already had a power=/= person arc. skill issue for everyone else

cinematic parallels, wonderful flavor, since we're meeting Steven younger than we did Axel we get to see a whole lot more growth in how someone grows past that archetype and how it influences his choices as someone who is far less rightfully confident and makes stupid kid decisions.

Clone? Probably not that little boy is white to me.

@no1tsumugiapologist okay i needed a lot of time to think it over but joe covered the basic idea. similar roles but not at all carbon copy, Axel is the showboat type where steven is the tortured asshole type. tsumugi may be a better analogy but they don't have more in common than that and steven can follow through on his big mouth so thats already different. Axel doesn't cause trouble for fun, he causes trouble without intending to. steven picks fights to pick fights. i really love the mentorship srs2 Axel has in keeping an eye out for steven but they're just intended to be parallels i think. feels good for the authors to acknowledge Axel's nuance. i dont know how to put it into words better but no, hope this makes sense

steven also feels like the one white boy in the friend group and thats funny

wish I could make an ao3 account but I'm working on it so someday i can comment on the few good deathmetal fics. Axel's more nuanced than some people realize and I want to be the pillar of the good aro upholding authors

kids are wild. baby niece came over while i was chatting with my brother at his place and shes six. asked to see my phone to know the time. she saw my wallpaper and asked about the axel and han wallpaper (i try to keep it subtle but cmon i like it). i tell her its a show i like and she asks if they're like llamas. Cause they watched emperors new groove a while ago and she likes characters and dynamics like that, but only asks if they're like llamas. i can't stop thinking about it, wish i could write better to make that a thing. premonition from my baby niece that axel and han would make a damn funny emperors new groove
