Everyone wondered who their soulmate was, most every spare moment my friends talked about what they hoped their soulmate would be like. Not me. I thought of it as an old concept meant to make people want to be their best and make them feel hopeful for love, even when sometimes it was undeserving.
It was a simple night. I was at my usual hideout, the old soda factory that had been shutdown for a few decades, no one knows why really but it was. Nothing was different than most nights I spent in there, my stuff was on the same high beam where I sat and stared out of a broken window facing north. It was a beautiful night and I guess that he must have followed me.
I knew the guy who followed me, he was in my third period English 2 class, well I more or less knew of the guy. Me and him would sit across the room from each other, sometimes catch eachother's eyes when talking to friends or the person next to us. It was nothing more, but sometimes I would see his soul mark, well part of it. It had blues and oranges, like a sunrise in the morning, and it looked a bit like mine, but sometimes that would happen to people. It was possible for someone else not to be your soulmate and have a soulmark similar, it was the shape that defined it though. Mine was shaped like a Stratus cloud, basically a long whisp of color on my arm, wrist to elbow on the underside.
Anyways back to the soda factory. I was at least 15 feet off the ground when I saw him, he was hesitant while looking for me. Almost like he hadn't thought this through exactly.
"Hello?" He spoke with a soft voice, almost as if trying to not get caught by someone else. I stared at him, silently laughing a little because he reminded me of my younger cousins when they were in trouble for taking candy from another kid.
"Up here," I didn't realize I had spoken until I actually did. He looked up at me, sitting on the beam with my blanket, charging cords, and snacks. He looked somewhat impressed that I had gotten up there, especially since I had had to climb a pole to get up to my spot, there was no ladder only a large pole and the walls on either side.
He stood staring for a moment, looking somewhat awestruck, it certainly wasn't because of my outfit in the slightest, a hoodie and jeans. He spoke after a few moments of 'soaking in' me on top of the beam.
"Oh, shoot, I didn't really think you came in here. Cause- you know- the place is like- y'know, just terrible."
I chuckled lightly at his stuttering, "that's what makes it so nice, nice and quite, nobody to bother you. It's peaceful."
"Yeah, sounds nice. Can I join you? Up there, I mean, if it's ok with you." He definitely was flustured, I mean it was obvious he had followed me to my spot. He just didn't want to seem stalkerish, I suppose.
"Sure, if you can get up here. Other than these walls and those poles, there's no other way up here," I spoke with humor in every word said. It was a hard climb, even if you had been doing it for a while. I simply looked down at him as he scanned the room for anything of use.
"I have always liked a good challenge y'know." This time he spoke with confidence in his voice, it made me wonder just what was he going to do to get up here with me?
It took him a grand total of 20 minutes to climb the poles to get to my spot, he laid on his back panting, obviously out of breath from the hard climb. He had his sleeves rolled up and I finally saw his soul mark fully.
It was exactly the same, the one thing that surprised me was that he had another on on his other arm, a small little constellation. It was cute, but also odd because not many people in highschool get more than one, sometimes people can gain another soul mark under certain circumstances, like if all three or more people love each other. Which made me wonder, just who loved me and him too and why hadn't I gotten another mark too?

So yeah, I guess that the first chapter/part of this little story I made at like 3am. Should I continue it?
