this is a dash-only, private, independent final fantasy xiv blog written by lynn ( 20+, she/her ), side blog to @veinblooded consisting of aymeric de borel, your too-pretty-to-be-a-good-person-and-that-makes-you-squint lord commander of ishgard. heavily headcanon based and highly-selective with sproadic activity. minors and personal blogs do not interact.

rules:

1. don’t rush me for replies. roleplaying is just for fun and should be treated as so. i have other real life commitments that require a lot of time and energy so i’m usually spent or dying on the floor. i would appreciate it if you would be patient with me.  

2. i don’t write smut, sorry. if that is your intention of following me, then please kindly unfollow/soft block me. while innuendos, suggestive comments, fade-to-black scenarios (as long as it’s plotted and mutually agreed), etc are fine, i’m not comfortable with actually writing smut out. however, other nsfw contents such as horrors, gore, torture, manipulation, etc will be featured on this blog, so i will try my best to tag triggers accordingly. if i happen to forget some triggers, feel free to remind me!

3. plotting and shipping are great! aymeric x paperwork is the real deal though. 

4. no godmodding, call-outs, dramas, vagues, anon-hate, etc. please, i stress this again, i am here to have fun and so should you! i’m excited to interact and write with everyone’s beautiful and amazing muses and i hope that, in turn, everyone will enjoy their time and have fun writing with me!

When you accidentally get promoted to head of state

" i only wished to observe. " gaze follows carefree patrons as she had stood off to the side of a tree, curious as to the celebration of valentiones and just what it entailed. love, she did not know of personally. not romantically, at least. yet it would be a lie if she stated she wasn't curious about the traditions of such a festival as valentione's. it wasn't enough just to hear tales and traditions, but a necessity to see it for herself.

          ' is that so? '     from behind her, aymeric promted as he emerged from the lotus stand; a genuine pleasant smile was visible his lips despite the fatigue he felt after a demanding session of politics. it always seemed challenging to remain sour whenever he got wind of faine's name in recent news; it was even harder when she was but a short distance away him. quickly, he joined her under the shade; work and whatnot already thrown to the depth of his mind in favour of this delightful surprise reunion.   

          ' may i ask what you are observing? '     he asked.     ' ah. '     then realisation dawned shortly after. gridania was vibrating in liveliness as the celebratory spirit of a festival enveloped this nation in its entirety. they called it ' valentione ', he recalled, a special occasion to honour the sacred tradition of a... rather ambiguous concept, love, something that aymeric himself hardly had the opportunity to personally experience throughout his life. and ishgard, being a nation withstanding bloodshed and war for as long as it had, didn't applaud such unnecessary ceremony either so he supposed it was only natural that he didn't know much about this phenomenon. it didn't mean he wouldn't at least attempt to understand, however, because he would love to explore this very unknown territory with one of his most treasured companions here. 

          a new age had begun. it was time for aymeric to embrace the changes. 

          starting with finally letting himself be a little more brave. ' would you be so kind as to enjoy this festival with me, my dear friend? '

          ' what troubles you, my friend? '     blissfully unaware that his undercover identity was... never trully that effective (he would like to think the costume was perfect for this very occasion), aymeric tried not to dwelve on the backhanded implication of faine's words. he was under the guise of an average ishgard's protector right now, so, even if she was the warrior of light, surely his immaculate incognito outfit couldn't be seen through with such ease!

          being a lowborn, and a bastard at that, had taught aymeric three things that he had made sure to engrave them into his soul: one, nobody could help you, either you helped yourself or you would be condemned to fate worse than death; two, nobody would help you willing, there was a price to be paid for each time you received someone else’s help, there was an exchange, a trade for mutual benefits, nothing ever truly came without a cost— he had come to understand this at a far too young age; and three, dependence meant defeat, meant failure, and spelled one’s doom, in order to survive, you must learn to stand on your own two feet, to fight tooth and nail against the odd no matter how many times you were dragged to hell and back, to claim your place in this cold and cruel world. so while he sincerely appreciated the warrior of light’s offer— he did, and he was so very grateful to have obtained such an invaluable ally for ishgard, aymeric understood all too well what would happen were he— no, ishgard were to rely on her too much.

          a gentle smile tugged at his lips as he regarded her with a kind look, he shook his head despite the temptation to simply take her for granted was powerful. she was strong, but ishgard itself was not to be underestimated. it had stood against the dragons for thousands of years without crumbling to dust. its ground was built on the historic deeds of its own people, its flag reddened with blood of the heroic. these stone-cold walls had immortalised countless sacrifices of fearless men as they safeguarded their homeland until their last breath, and had witnessed the bravery, the courage, the valor, the united strength of ishgardians under one’s banner as they raised their weapons up high to protect their home from its formidable foes. ishgard was a proud nation. ishgard was fearsome in its own right. and aymeric, as an ordinary citizen who had fought for his nation his entire life, had absolute faith in its ability to endure, to survive, to prevail.     ‘ you have naught to worry about, my friend. ’     aymeric said, self-assured and confident.     ‘ ishgard and her people stood against odds for thousands of years. she won’t fall so easily, that i’m certain of. nevertheless, i’m honoured to have received such a generous offer. i kindly thank you. ’
