happy 2021 everyone! some resolutions...

💞keep challenging myself and my thought processes re:work - become more adept to defaulting to what i already know rather than constantly shifting my perspective onto somebody elses

💞treat my own feelings with the weight and respect they deserve (so i can better hold others accountable and also take responsibility for myself!!)

💞make sure i keep showing rae how grateful i am to have her in my life and how amazing she is and what a joy it is to support her

💞make more of an effort with the friends i love 🌱

💞develop my assertive voice even more

💞skate as often as i can!!! i want to be able to do a cute skating video to a song by the end of the year!!

💞tentatively gona stick travel in there

💞keep up therapy / if not an option then journal more often !

hello! i’m feeling a bit better today because the waves of my period broke and i had a day off today. had a fair bit of work to do - finishing off an application for assembly roxy and some transcribing for my job. then i did some more unpacking and had a really long bath and did some beauty bits, and then wrapped some gifts. so i’m feeling a bit brighter now 🌞

wow, for the very first time in my long (long) tumblr using history i have flaked on this in a BIG way... probably has something to do with being too busy to make myself look good and take selfies. anyway, i will try and pick it up somewhat...

we’ve moved! spent 2 days packing solidly and got the keys two days ago. the move was fine, although the movers were late so we got in a bit later than we’d anticipated. we like to try and unpack everything super fast so it starts feeling like a home asap!! but unfortunately by the time they’d gone it was getting on to 8.30pm so we only had a few solid hours, and i’ve been working for the past 2 days. we’ve made it look good though, just there are a lot of boxes and bags everywhere and we’re living out of cases. the flat is very amazing and we’re SO happy with it. just wanna cut to the bit where everything is where it should be!

everything seems very overstimulating and stressful at the moment. i feel like there are a lot of “self care” things that have had to be sacrificed (ie washing) because of business/tiredness and we’ve been eating terribly because we’ve not had time to go to the supermarket yet. not seen anything green in weeks 🥴 and then of course the news about christmas yesterday. my mum has been on her own since march and christmas means a LOT to her. she’s been counting down the days for honestly weeks and weeks and shes planned so much so it SUCKS. also work is super busy and my shifts drag. and i’ve not rested nearly enough to function to a decent level this weekend. oh and my period is due any minute. so i’m feeling fairly spiral-y bc i don’t feel on top of any of it at all. #any1relate

i really wish i had a solid block of time off right now to get a handle on everything but it seems like that’s not going to happen anytime soon :( anyway this has been a very moany return but i hope you are all doing ok out there x

Whoops, I’ve been awol for a couples of days 👀 anyway, nothing much is new; been working at the shop and preparing to move. i’ve not felt my best tbh - bit pms-y and run down at the minute, but hopefully i’ll feel a bit brighter in the coming days ✨

our sofa was delivered today which we are very excited about. and i went for a coffee with the woman who runs the company i write for (first time i’ve actually met her in person) which was nice. very wet, tho. weather is horrendous!!

i’m really not feeling at all xmassy right now which makes me SAD. it’s probably the move and stuff which is happening next week that’s really just pulling all my focus. we havent really played xmas songs or wrapped any presents yet :( hopefully after we move we’ll just go really HARD with the christmas stuff and we’ll get more into the spirit 🎄

this was not me today but i forgot to take any pics of my mug soOoOo

i was off today so i met victoria for a coffee in the park. we’re working on an application that, if we’re accepted, will help us start making something new which is quite exciting!

had to sketch out a plan for a long article i’m writing for work but was all pretty straightforward. i think tonight we’re gonna get the duvet and put it in the living room and eat (more) pasta bake. this is literally all i have the motivation to do at any given point recently. we’re moving out of this heckhole in 8 days!!!!! which i think will help.

rae & i started packing today! we packed up almost the entire living room in one day, which was pretty good going. we then had pizza from our favourite little pizza shop ever and watched the end of schitts creek 😭😭😭 literally loved it sooooo much i cried and cried ! !

today i had my 7th interview with the client who i’m writing the book for! it went well, and i’m enjoying chatting to her. we won’t be meeting until after new year now, so i’m going to have to get writing as soon as i can! it’s quite exciting, and i’m enjoying putting it all together. afterwards i plugged myself into my laptop and transcribed the whole interview which just takes hours 😰 i’m so looking forward to moving into our new place where we’re going to have a real OFFICE!! 🤯🤯

then rae and i cleaned the flat up (much needed) and listened to a bit of all killa no filla! now the pasta bake is in the oven and we’ve got our feet up for a night of cotchin 🥰 rae says i always moan that my day has been boring on this so i hope she noticed i didn’t say it today x

forgot to write yesterday 😳😳😳 but we went to IKEA aka my favourite place in the world bc we need a sofa for the new flat! we found a perfect one but it’s sold out 😤 gotta be ON IT on wednesday when they’re getting 4 in store. then we had pizza 🍕 and swedish fish 🐟

today was a bit boring, i just did some work and went to asda for printer ink. a life in the fast lane :)

well today we got our moving date - we are moving to our new pad TWO WEEKS today!!!! we couldn’t be more excited. so we got the call with our date etc this morning and then ended up spending the whole day in bed!!! well, i did a bit of writing, but apart from that we’ve had a super lazy day. chatting to some friends tonight on ZOOM which will be nice and i think we might get a chippy, lol. such a lazy day!! 🤟🏻🤟🏻

today was pretty uneventful, just went to work all day and then watched GIGLESS (weekly zoom comedy gig) and ate bangers n mash. we’re watching a bit of schitts creek now before bed! i have the day off tomorrow which i’m looking forward to, i’m tiiirrreeeeedd.

02/12/2020 (i dribbled toothpaste down my top which is why it’s wet 😎)

i just had a little read back over last year’s blogmas and it was a whole year ago i was accepted on the playwrighting programme! i have written a play now, and it’s not perfect but i do like it. i’m hoping to stage it somewhere whenever theatres open up again, whenever the hell that might be...

SOOOO the best thing ever happened yesterday after i posted!!!! basically we moved to a new flat really recently (our landlady wanted to move back into our other one which we CRIED about coz it was PERFECT) and we hate the new flat. i think our last one ruined our expectations, but it’s a pure dive and the neighbours are the. worst. like playing house music VERY, VERY loud until the early hours of the morning, throwing house parties even though we’re supposed to be in lockdown etc, etc. anyway, we were getting a bit fed up - it really does effect everything, i cba cooking in our dingy kitchen, it just doesn’t help to motivate you to DO things if the space you’re in isn’t ur vibe, buttttt.... we got a call from the housing association yday and we’ve been allocated a brand new flat!!!! just round the corner from here!!! i mean, look, they’re pretty modern and arent going to have loads of character but believe me we are BUZZING! And it also means coz it’s run by the council they’ll not kick us out, so we can just chill and focus on working on our own shit and blabla yayy so that’s great news!!

today i wrote a blog for the company i work for, but i’m still 150 words short... ah well, i’ll have to tart it up a bit on friday on my next free day. we went to look at the new flat (outside of it anyway) and got absolutely SOAKED by the rain but nothing could dampen our spirits ✨ we’re hoping to have moved in by new year!

tonight we will prob watch more of schitts creek which we are addicted to and i’ll read some more of my new book 🌈

hello good folx of tumblr. i am back (again), the first time i’ve logged into this account for about a year. december wouldn’t feel like december without a bit of blogmas action, so let’s try and restore some normality to this absolute shit show of a year, hm?

i feel like i should, like, reintroduce myself or something. my name is jess and i’m a scottish playwright and actor who lives in glasgow with my girlfriend. i also work at a local cheese shop which has been a bit of a recent development since losing my beloved theatre job to the pandemic. i’m actually enjoying having the full-on middle class shawlands cheese and wine experience, tho. and i’m writing for a biography company at the mo too.

this year has been... well, we’ve all been kicking around, haven’t we? we all know. we don’t need any needless adjectives flying about. i think usually on the 1st december i think about what has changed since last year, but everything has been such a blur i can hardly remember where one year ended and the next began. so let’s not depress ourselves and instead talk about the chinese takeaway i’m about to pick up. i’m having udon noodles with tomato and scrambled egg, apparently a delicasy in a region of china. i’m really looking forward to it. that is all.
