Perdev activity #10: Career development

What motivates you to achieve ur dreams in life? Well for me, i am motivated to achieve my goals because of the following reasons: I have my God, I have people around me who supports me and I want to be happy and have an easier life ahead. Eversince I was a child, I dream of becoming a nurse. Funny it may seems but it's a job that i want to because I love wearing all white outfits which are decent to look at. When I reached highschool, I aspire to become a teacher but later on decided to become an enginer up until now in my Senior High School. I always ask myself why on earth I decided to be an engineer someday? I myself doesn't know. Hearing the word engineer suits for men. However I believe that there are things that men does and women also can do! I lift heavy things like most men do and sometimes don't get to be so sophisticated when in casual days. But this engineering thing motivates me to become one of thousands of women breaking the trend that when it comes to engineering it is only for men. I wanna try things that other people think that I don't fit in. I believe in my capabilities and I aspire to become one of them. I always seek guidance from our Father God and Lord Jesus to guide my path along the way and if ever I'm chasing the wrong one, I know God will redirect me so that I could follow the right one. My only take way is that we don't own our future and because of this we should seek guidance from Him. Having a skill and knowledge on something you are sure with is a great tool but the final decision belongs to God. You can never achieve something without the guidance of our God. Always align your dreams with prayer and then start chasing it until you finally reach your desired dreams and goals. Faithfully surrendering all things to Him will make it easier to achieve our plans and ambitions in life. Having my God will always be my motivation to move forward and start working on my dreams.

“Family is Love”

Per-Dev Entry #9: Building and Establishing Harmonized Relationship with the Family

No family is perfect. Our individual differences cause conflicts and misunderstandings within the family but makes the bond between its members  stronger. The family, specifically the parents, should be the guide on the journey of their children about life and everything which deals with the future. However, sometimes it's not the usual order. There are cases where the family does not support the child. On my personal experience I don't get to associate myself with my family and have some quality time with them. When I was young, I used to play with them but not until the time I realized and see things clearly  why I'm an outcast or the black sheep. I'm also close to my tita and I bond more to them than my family. We used to have extended type of family before not until we bought our own house. My only take way is that no matter how close or not  you are to them it cannot be denied that they are my biological family. I also don't agree to the saying "blood is thicker than water" cause it does not apply on any situations, the only thing that is thicker is when the sincerity and love is real. Love and family is not only by blood relation but it comes from the heart.

“Leading The Way To Success”

Per-Dev Journal Entry #8: Building and Establishing Harmonized Relationship with the Society/ Community

Leadership is a great responsibility for a person who is assign to lead a certain group of people. Leadership, although is a born talent, it can be taught and learned. I am not a born leader. I have weaknesses and as much as possible I don't want also to associate myself in leadership for I am happy for just being a follower. It is because leadership requires a lot of patience and critical thinking that would make the group move for a goal. I am having a hard time balancing on what to do if conflicts arise within the group or sometimes if the goal is attainable because the groupmates are not cooperating. A leader should have a wide patience because you are handling diverse kinds of people. Although it is hard to become a leader, it is also beneficial because it helps you in decision-making and promotes to become a strong-willed person. Finally, to be a leader must have a heart that encompasses sincerity and integrity for him to be respected and a role model to his group.

"A Crazy Little thing Called Love"

Relationship is a word where generation Z and some millenials makes them feel confused and inlove. It is a word that embodies various aspects and forms. In order to know and survive this world, you must build and create relationship among others. However, it does not only limit to having a friend. It could be having special someone who can be your companion through life. Well, the world is already cruel, and some of this reasons associate the word Love is love for country, others and oneself. We have different standards and qualifications to consider for someone that we love. It may be personal or it could be what you can see from telenovelas and movies.

As for me, my ideal man is something like the character of Cha Eun Woo of "True Beauty" and Kim Soo- Hyun in "Its okay not to be okay" they are both warm and serious, they show their love and kindness in a way that it doesn’t boast, a lowkey gesture indeed. What I like the most is that they care what you feel inside and how mentally stable you are to handle. It's not impossible to dream something a man like them but I know God is giving me someone that can handle me at my worst and best phase. This feeling about having “kilig” in watching my Korean idols i must say it has something to do with Attraction, giving you good mood and positive outlook can happen when you are attracted to someone. On the other side of this Love phase, there is a word that makes it perfect. That is being committed. A commitment is something serious and mature way to handle a relationship. Commitment is not measured by age but for those who only understand and truly loved someone. Love prevails when commitment happens. Well not only by commitment you can please someone, but also there is what we call the 5 love languanges. This language can help you find and assess a person what are his/her catch. Many ways we can show our love and also define love based on our own understanding.

Well, as for me, I define love as seeing the goodness despite of failures. My love language is giving gifts and words of affirmation. Giving gifts is really my signature. I'm generous and be too picky for my loved one. I also compliment positive words that a certain person wants to hear.As for my receiving language is quality time and little acts of kindness. It would literally melt my heart when someone initiates actions that would help you when you’re at not your state. Well my take way only is that love doesn’t demand but it voluntarily shows you things you want to feel. But as what they said love is subjective, we differ in defining it and showing it. Whatever way it is shown, what is important is we radiate love to people who deserve it and as well we received love from people who are dear to us.

Per-Dev Journal Entry #6: Developing Efficient Learning and Focusing on the Psychological Health Mental health is the star of our discussion. We talked about how poor mental health can affect one's relationship with others and how it can destroy a person. Many ideas were discussed including self acceptance which is a vital move that we should do for ourselves. Acceptance may sound easy but believe me, teenagers nowadays couldn’t accept failures especially when they don't understand the situation or no one has explained why it happened to them. This problem leads me to questioning my capability and myself as a human.

May we always remind ourselves to evaluate our response to any given situation whether it is negative or positive because the actions that we do affect the results. Crying it out and taking your time to heal are examples of consoling oneself in a private way. Maybe you suffer bullying because they think you are different. However, always know that no one can judge us. My only wish is that you should talk it out to some of your trusted closest friends. Be optimistic because it is still us who can uplift when everything goes wrong.

"Adulting problems 101"

Per-Dev Journal Entry #5: Encountering Stress as Part of Adolescence

Have you known a person who's not affected of being stress out? I doubt there's none. Stress comes in many ways. However, it matters on how we carry and treat the problems we have. As a teenager, I experience stress that sometimes leads to depression. It's like an episodic stress that some days it would hit me hard because im scared of so much happiness that it might be an abundance of stress later on. My only advice is that don’t take it seriously because sometimes all we need to do is to have a positive mindset and learn how to be optimistic in times of trying times. As for me, my coping strategy is the same as what I have discussed. I talked a lot of my problems with my mommy and sometimes I just cry out loud and listen to a lively music so that I could sing and dance with the song and trust me it seems like crazy but it does help me to be okay. I do stress eating also which I know is not good because sometimes it's not healthy. All you need to do is to have a “me time” just loving, fixing and building yourself when your about to explode.

Per-Dev Journal Entry #4: dealing with the challenges of adolescence stage

Being the eldest of all, daughter and grand daughter, the pressure is great since all them (my relatives) are looking up to me. Achieving nothing is like being a trash in our home. I cannot describe exactly what my family thinks but it really feels heavy that it can cause me so much stress. In the long run, as I get mature, I realized that it’s you who will be enjoying the path you will take and it’s you who will be riding the roller coaster experience of life. 

Basic adulting is hard when you have no one beside you to talk things over. I'm not the type of person who communicates with my family even with the smallest achievement of myself. I just keep everything in me. Indeed, adolescent is the stage of  being torn between adulting and teenager feels. It's really hard to motivate yourself alone but relying and leaning on to the wisdom of God always helps. It helps a lot! The importance of getting into experiences, challenges and mixed emotions is that you know how to handle things and situations while growing up. Always take these as a step on making yourself armored by the things that will come may it be in the worst or best smash. As the song goes “you can never be too happy in this life”, just embrace, adjust and make the most out of life of course according to God's will.

“The Challenging World of  Adolescents”

Per-Dev Journal Entry #3.2: peer social comparison

I can describe myself as an approachable person and so with that character I have many friends. Peer comparison cannot be denied. Sometimes, I personally get to ask myself with things that my friends would possess and his/her situation that I’m in. In desperation, I told myself often times that I wish I had someone's life.  Sad but it's true. I know it's a negative side of me but generally it's a common feeling of most of the teenagers today. With the rapid use of social media, we tend to be anxious at some angles and we compare ourselves to what the society declares. Peers also do a great impact on how we deal and socialize ourselves with people. I consider my peers as my third home, where I can be real and loud at them. We should not be jealous with what our friends have and learn to be inspired with the things you want yourself to have with what u see in your friends.

“Growing and Learning”

Per-Dev Journal Entry #3.1: entering the phase of middle and late adolescence

Today's meeting was quiet interesting and has something to ponder on. Development of one’s self is highlighted. As we can see, changes happen in the right time. These changes caused us to be identified as to who we are today. Our emotions, feelings and thoughts are the result of who we are as we grow and learn. As for me, I'm different and much more mature than before which makes me change the way I view and handle things and I must say it's kinda buggy and a serious responsibility. 

The way I think makes my friends define me as a mature and independent woman. I must say that at an early age I know how to do things on a woman is expected to do.  Being the eldest child, my adolescent age has been a challenging start of my teenage life. As I grow older, I keep only few people whom I trust and be my confidant as well. I can say that I’m not close with my parents. However, it did not gave me the idea to rebel thus making my life a mess. As a teenager, we are experiencing changes that are new to us and my only takeaway is to sip and make each moment count regardless of the situation  because you only live once in your adolescent life. Have it in a way that you are being  responsible and you learn how to manage exactly your self.

“Knowing others in order to know oneself”

Per-Dev Journal Entry #2: Getting to Know each other (ACTIVITY 1)

“Getting associated with other people” Learning a lot and having fun while knowing my classmates. Some are confident enough to explain every detail about how they are as a person and some just point it out directly as what they really want to say. Everyone is unique, while listening to their explanations some have a deep persona and some are just chill and vibe. Knowing their characteristics, talents and traits makes me value and appreciate every single detail of them. For me, Im 100% sure that sunflowers are the best description of me. A blissful, unique, and adorable characteristic that makes me somehow complete. The bottom line is, “Unique yet beautiful to know”. That’s how I describe this afternoon’s activity. Let us know ourselves better and give it a chance to mingle and find comfort in one another. As a famous song "No man is an Island", we need to get along with other people because not all the time that we can stand on our own. We need someone to lean on and can talk to in times of problems.

“KNOWING ONESELF”

Per-Dev Journal Entry #1: Getting to Know One’s Self

Knowing yourself is quiet tough and puzzled. You think you are sure but in reality its not. Accepting criticism and feedbacks from others can lead you to both different direction and when you finally decided where to go you must view it in a way you are learning and growing.

Self-confidence is very hard to find. The way you connect and associate yourself with other people reflects yourself. Physical characteristics can affect your self confidence we should view ourselves in a way we could appreciate every single aspects we have. We often associate our self with the negative side of evaluating our self but we must not be biased on things like this so that we could develop our confidence. We sometimes conclude we know already ourselves by just reflecting of what we have done before and how we get to fix things all by ourselves, but the fact that we are a part of this society we should take opinions and make them a lesson we could get ourselves much better than before. Its really hard to understand someone when you yourself you don’t recognize what kind of person are you. so its important to value your self concept and self esteem. Knowing your weaknesses, accepting opinions and evaluating it in a positive way identify you as a person. 

In conclusion, knowing yourself requires a lot of effort, patience and can trigger your emotions but always know that it is better to have the longest journey in finding yourself than to not find it at all. You just need to embrace your negative sides and make it a way to improve and shine better on the things you are confident of, self-worth also plays a major impact on how we value and we wish to value by the people who wants to know us. Always bring positivity and love when knowing thyself cause no one can ever understand you as much as you understand yourself.

“READY PLAYER ONE”

A Movie Analysis

“Ready Player One," is a story that gives a picture of a dismal 2045 era, where most people live in squalor, choosing to spend most of their time online in a virtual universe called the Oasis. The movie revolves around Wade Watts who lives in the "Stacks" of Columbus, Ohio -- a tower of mobile homes -- and spends every spare moment logged in. He lives in a futuristic world where everyone — the young, old, poor, and rich — spends the vast majority of their time in virtual reality (VR), to avoid the dystopian real world where poverty and despair run rampant as a result of global warming and overpopulation.

When the creator of the OASIS, James Halliday passes away, he wills his virtual world and its accompanying fortune worth a half-trillion dollars to the player who can find the Easter egg hidden deep within the endless universe created by Halliday. The poverty-stricken Wade Watts fights, through his OASIS avatar, Parzival, alongside millions to win the game, including the beautiful Art3mis, his best friend H, and the sleek, multi-billion-dollar corporation made up of thousands of players, Innovation Online Industries (IOI for short), which wants to bring the OASIS under corporate control. Wade and other dedicated gamers have been hunting obsessively for an elusive Easter egg left hidden in the game's code by its late creator, James Halliday. To find the egg, gamers must find three keys and pass through three gates, where their skills will be tested. The sole winner will receive the entirety of Halliday's trillion-dollar fortune, including his controlling share in the Oasis' parent company.

The task of solving the Halliday puzzles come with much higher stakes, and in order to win, Wade will have to solve the mysteries left behind in the OASIS which, he discovers, have much more to do with the real world than he previously thought. However, what really matters to Halliday — who decided that this moment should be presented by a virtual form of his true self, rather than his avatar — is that Parzival (Wade) understands his regrets about his life. Halliday always felt more comfortable living in video games than he did in the real world, and he always felt more comfortable in the past than in the present. At the end of his life, after losing his chance at love and his partnership with his best friend, Halliday came to understand the importance of reality, which he described as "the only thing that's real."

In this movie, the viewer is given a somewhat grotesque picture of men, women and children of all shapes and sizes living out their days within a digital environment which doesn’t actually exist. It does not only paint a rather pessimistic view of society's growing dependence on technology, but also depicts the fantastical possibilities presented by VR and other futuristic technologies. While this movie might not be the most suitable for kids, it does offer some thought-provoking ideas concerning the virtual epidemic of our modern world. It instilled a lesson that there is a greater prize than anything in the game. The understanding that Wade cannot spend his whole life escaping from what is real

For example, CD writers are available off the shelf at very low prices, making music piracy a simple affair. Piracy is done in many ways like video piracy, cable piracy, and DVD/CD piracy. Video piracy takes place when a film is produced in the form of a videocassette without proper authorization from the right holder i.e. the producer. Often, film producers sell video rights to another party (generally after six weeks or more of release in theatres), which makes video cassettes for selling, or lending. The videocassettes on sale are meant for home viewing only. Cable piracy refers to unauthorised transmission of films through cable network. Very often, films, especially the new releases, are shown through cable without permission from the rights holder. Music piracy refers to the unauthorised replication of music cassettes that flood the market as soon as the launch of a new release. Music companies' revenues hit hard by the deluge of pirated compact discs and cassettes, as these are available at substantially lower prices compared to that at stores. With this unethical actions of piracy, its setback includes dishonesty and robbery. They might think that piracy is just a simple crime but it's not. Millions of money is being robbed by this pirates. There is no respect to hardwork. People doing good business are affected by them. Yes you're earning in the expense of other person's hardwork.  The major setback is because piracy is a crime, so there is a possibility that the violators will be put into jail once proven guilty in court. So practice legal and honest business if you want to have a peaceful life.

“Individual as a Whole”

The digital divide is a difference in access to technology between nations, regions and based on demographic factors such as income, race and age. The types of digital divide includes infrastructure, devices, education, and cost. Let's talk about them one by one. First is infrastructure. Networks are faster and more reliable in urban areas versus rural areas and developed nations versus developing nations. For example, a number of people still live in an area that is not served by wired internet or a mobile network. Second is devices. Access to computing devices such as computers, networking gear and mobile phones. For example, low-end devices and aging hardware do not have access to the same services as modern high-end devices. Third is education. Access to computers in schools, the effective use of technology in classrooms and teaching of basic technology skills to students. For example, a school where every student has a laptop or tablet versus a school with no computers. Finally is about cost. There are currently more than 6.5 billion active mobile phone subscriptions.

In many cases, people who don't have access to sufficient food, shelter, medical services and education do have access to the internet and mobile phones. Mobile technology has been shown to benefit economic activity and access to knowledge in the poorest of nations. However, the cost of these services can be punitively high as a significant percentage of income may be devoted to mobile phone related costs. This is made worse by factors such as monopolies of telecom services that lead to higher prices. As a simple student, I can help bridge the gap by looking for ways and means in my own little way. This digital divide will be minimized if we positively respond to it. Instead of seeing it as a problem, handle it as a challenge to be jumped off. Influence other students that there is always a remedy other than being negatively minded about it. There is always a solution if only our eyes are also open to it. Students' voices always have an impact to society and catches attention. The government and other private institutions can help ease the problem of digital division since they know that we live in this digital age. In this way, students will no longer bear the agony of being digitally divided from others.
