human practice n°1-

I decided to take faces more seriously cause they're kind of a weakspot of mine. This is my first attempt. I didn't mean for her to come out so... sinister? Like the original image definitely didn't have that vibe. But it looks pretty good and it didn't take too long to do so it's cool

more fucking soldiers, I'm sorry but there's just too many cool black and white pictures of soldiers that are ripe for practicing comic/manga. I am very uncreative. Haven't been drawing shit for the past 2 weeks or so bc I was very busy doing astronaut porn (for a commission) (took me ages) but now I'm back. I can't decide if I like the flat version or the shaded version better but I'm leaning more towards the flat, I added a multiply texture on top of both to give it some "grit" and without it it looks awful (smooth version). The lineart by itself looks great though, genuinely didn't expect it to look so good I dig it

idk if nanami smokes or not so there's a cigaretteless version for the boring ones amongst you. Also the colors look extremely more saturated on my phone than they did on my monitor while I was drawing so now idk which one's correct

still with the manga/comic aesthetic. I wanna use screentones but idk how to avoid moire patterns, plus the textures I have for imitating that sort of traditional ink look are kinda limited (I found a few very cool ones, but not enough) and idk how to make my own.

Came out looking EXTREMELY busy with all the lines and dots and shit, but I do like it a lot, especially the face area. The hand is the weakest part imo but oh well you live and you learn. If anyone's got any ideas of possible texture brushpacks for krita that don't rely on opacity (ie it's either solid color or there's nothing), please let me know

redraw of a scene (two scenes into one actually) from the Kengan fan comic called Convict Colosseum. I wanna get my manga game up, but idk digital just feels weird to draw inky stuff in. It does allow for this soft grey shading though which is nice

and now for something completely different.

Based off of the short story by Jorge Luis Borges, itself based off of the Martin Fierro. I wanted to experiment a more unblended/dry brush style, and the entirety of the painting was done using a combination of Memileo Impasto brushes and Cloom's Dry and Dirty brush pack (for krita) (all digital bc I'm poor). It was also a bit on an experiment in painting full scenes (I usually don't do backgrounds, I hate them). All in all I'm not 100% satisfied with either of those two aspects but I still like the painting, I'll probably have to do some focused practice for drawing backgrounds before attempting anything similar again.

Basado el cuento de Borges, que a su vez estaba basado en el Martin Fierro. Quería experimentar un poco con un estilo más "de pincel seco/sin blendear", y toda la pintura fue hecha usando unicamente los pinceles Memileo Impasto y el Cloom's Dry and Dirty pack (para krita, todo digital pq soy pobre). Tambien era una especie de experimento en hacer escenas enteras, algo que no suelo hacer pq siempre me enfoco en personajes/criaturas individuales (odio hacer backgrounds). Al final no quedé 100% satisfecho con ninguno de los 2 aspectos pero igual me gustó la pintura, pero lo más probable es que tenga que hacer varias prácticas especificas sobre escenarios y arquitectura antes de volver a intentar algo así

ok so this is like... the last worm-related thing I've got? Other than a digitally painted Contessa ass pic (which came out great if I do say so myself). Grue here doesn't have a face bc he's not a character that interests me much, but I did want to jot down his design bc like. Everyone makes the fucking skull white for some reason. I feel like a black motorcycle helmet with a sort of reshaped but otherwise completely normal visor works best in this case, and there's nothing in-text that says the mask is white I don't think.

Anyway, that. I'm not saying I won't draw more worm stuff (I probably will, maybe) but I haven't drawn in a WHILE, and there's not that many characters I wanna make (mostly just Torso). I do commissions in case anyone wants me to add another character to this sort of ref sheet collection (or anything really, it doesn't have to be worm) and I have a patreon in case anyone wants to just give me money for some reason (https://www.patreon.com/c/azrael4224, there are no rewards). This was meant to be Sy, I was gonna do ref sheets for a bunch of twig characters like I did worm but in the end I... didn't.

The overall style for Twig was meant to take a lot from Netflix's Castlevania but again I didn't get far enough to refine the look so it's pretty basic. But yeah that's it. Child/ teen Sylvester
