Ever wonder how the story gets told to other Eridians?

Think of how Eridians communicate, and how they see the world around them. Now think of how they tell stories and pass down history. Like Dolphins, they pass not only words but images from their memory by reproducing the ultrasonic reflection. They're not all words and gestures, it's like reproducing a holographic representation along with the words so that the others actually experience what each other have witnessed.

Which, given Rocky's unique humor and choice of words, despite the translator not really being that perfect, you do understand he's very well educated and he's the chief engineer of a starship. He's likely not soft in his wording, hence the "dirty, dirty, dirty" scene. This means that Eridians don't mince words but they're also very colorful in their manner of speaking.

This means, they have a rich storytelling history. They project movies to each other. They make up stories. They are also prone to embellishment.

Now, we have Rocky returning from the stars with an alien and saving his species. Rocky is a hero. He's more than a hero. He's a celebrity. They'll carve his likeness into a mountainside. They'll erect statues of him. Grace too, but Rocky probably even has action figures being made of him, his ship, and of Grace, their ships all for the children. Why? Not entirely for the same reason Human children play with action figures, it's because they see by sound and movement, and they can layer their world with other images to create mental holography for each other to participate in a world around them together. Layers of imagination while they play with the action figures.

OK. Now that we've established how they have things like opera, movies, and stories combined with their play... They need to rely on Rocky to tell the story.

And Rocky tells the daring story in a slow burn style.

It leads up to him finding the crew dead. His determination to continue the mission alone. His struggles at the helm through treacherous space in the unknown void. He's sitting at the helm, fierce and rocketing through space to reach his destination only to find an alien starship waiting for him.

He tells of his action, swerving and his cunning like an action movie. A star pilot tensely navigating to avoid a potentially hostile adversary that keeps moving chaotically. He hones in and locks onto the ship that appears disabled from their frantic maneuvers.

Yet, now the story needs to pass from Eridian to Eridian. So it becomes more and more embellished as it goes. Rocky becomes an action hero. He is Eridian Odysseus. Grace is his sidekick.

But wait! There's more!

The story changes as Grace clearly introduces Eridians to Human culture and... music. Music they've never heard before but creates wild images in their minds that they align to the story as they pass it along. They learn the words in their language and understand them in context and meaning. It's exciting and new.

So, as Rocky desperately tries to get home to save Adrian and his people. A failing starship rocketing through the stars as Grace realizes Rocky's ship is in danger, he's racing back to help save their world. The Eridians find a suitable song to set to the story of Rocky's homecoming to add just the right the Eridian-Human nuance and embellish it with an Eridian-style: From Adrian and Rocky's perspective -- because Grace can't generate the mental images like Eridians can, so they can't know it from his perspective and thus they layer it with a fitting Human song.
