I don’t like when Kate herself is getting criticized for her behaviors in the comics (like fat shaming Eve) like she is an actual human being and not a poorly written by a man female character 😭
And i don’t even mean to say it in a way that she needs to be likable and have those negative qualities smoothed over!
I just think that it’s entirely unfair that somehow only Rex gets the curtesy of being presented to us with his flaws as “well he was a child soldier abandoned by his family ofc he is going to have behavioral issues” WHEN KATE IS LITERALLY THE SAME CASE AS HIM??? SHE WAS A GDA CHILD SOLDIER! HER BROTHER BASICALLY ABANDONED HER! SHE STILL HAS IT IN HER TO VISIT THEIR FATHER!
I wish that she was granted being explored in a 3 dimensional way like with how she pretty much doesn’t have proper friendships which could be explained by her upbringing
Or ACTUALLY show us how dying repeatedly fucks her up mentally where she is trying to find a way to dissociate from it all through sex as a means of horrible coping
Or explore her relationship with Immortal as EXACTLY what it is which is grooming and show us how she is a victim who is prone to falling into unhealthy power-imbalanced relationships due to being raised as a soldier with mentality of just following orders (WHICH ACTUALLY WOULD WORK EVEN BETTER WITH HIGHLIGHTING HER DIFFERENCES WITH HER BROTHER!)
Even that bodyshaming bit in comics could still be adapted and spun in a way that adds to her character if it’s again presented in a way of revealing just how much she attaches herself to strict dietary regiments once again because of LITERALLY being raised to be used in combat!
THERE IS LEGITIMATELY SO MUCH POTENTIAL TO ACTUALLY FLESH HER CHARACTER OUT OUTSIDE OF FUCKING AND DYING IN THE STUPIDEST WAYS POSSIBLE JUST FOR THE SHOCK VALUE OF IT ALL
It legitimately starts feeling like gross fetishizing with how much her character legitimately limited to just that!
Why Paul gets to actually be shown to be competent when they have the same powers? (And don’t bring up the point of him being a psycho and killing his clones indiscriminately unlike her, if they wanted to ACTUALLY commit to this idea there are so many better ways to use her powers! Make her a 1 woman medical team support character, can you imagine a surgeon with a whole team of assistants that is just them?? Make her a communication based hero that has clones spread out all over the world on different bases since she is connected to them all it’s literally the most secure and unhackable network! LIKE THERE ARE SO MANY BETTER WAYS TO UTILIZE HER POWERS AND YOU ARE TELLING ME CECIL AND GDA WERENT ABLE TO COME UP WITH A BETTER USE FOR HER???)
Why only Rex gets to be presented as sympathetic case of a guy with messed up backstory when they BASICALLY have the same upbringing??
I swear whenever I need to remind myself just how misogynistic the writing in the show is I can just look at Kate and see the most glaring example of it all 😭
