this was my heated rivalry
Rhaenyra, the whole realm already heard you bouncing on her high tower-
"I acknowledge the struggle. But I dispute that I must become what I am not." "Time will tell." HOUSE OF THE DRAGON, Season 3 Episode 3: 'Rhaenyra Triumphant'
I wonder if Rhaenyra ever thinks about how if she never got usurped by the Greens, she might have had Alicent as her Hand
Rhaenyra spent the whole episode having things demanded of her that she had no way of providing. Each time, a death knell rang in her ears, even as Daemon proclaimed them gods and asked her to live up to his divine aspirations.
Then Alicent steps into her chambers with a request of her own. Rhaenyra steels herself. Gods, she is so tired.
A casket sent to Oldtown.
This, this she can provide.
The room is finally quiet. Her head even stops buzzing for a moment. How dare she be Rhaenyra’s singular source of relief in the whole of the realm?
So Rhaenyra reaches out.
rhaenicent are SOOOOO close to this i can feel it guys
alicent should've sat on rhaenyra's lap, yanked on that chain and they should've made out sloppily
No, but Alicent and Rhaenyra in 3x03 fuck me up because suddenly they're in the roles they were always supposed to have. They were supposed to live in the Red Keep together, Rhaenyra was supposed to be queen of the Seven Kingdoms and Alicent was supposed to be her closet confidant and advisor instead of Viserys'. This is the ideal future their pilot selves would've been too cautious to hope for. But so much has happened in between then and now, so much that can't be undone, years of resentment, distrust, betrayal, hate, death and carnage, with more to come, and it's ruined this victory for them. Things have never been more right but it's still all wrong and it's too late to fix it. It is odd to be here with you, indeed.
Rhaenicent is a tragedy of a thousand cuts. There are so many moments when you can just see how they could almost make peace but there's always something, some insidious counsel, some insecurity, some fear, some duty, some expectation, some complex geometric political problem, something that gets under their skin and causes them to turn away. But they never stop looking back. They never stop wanting to go back. And then they keep meeting each other at the wrong time, unsynchronized in their stories. They each have moments when they were ready to choose each other. Those moments never align. And then, the way their story is intertwined with their own captivity within the world they live in, we're not just watching them pine, we're watching them losing a possible path to their own peace and liberation over and over.
RHAENYRA, DAEMON & ALICENT on Viserys House of the Dragon | 3.03 ‘Rhaenyra Triumphant’
Thinking about the “come with me” scene. The way that they look at each other is insane. Then the hurt in Alicent’s eyes when Rhaenyra tells her to “go”. The look in both of their eyes. They love each other so fucking much.
Of course they don’t like Milly Alcock’s Supergirl. She’s a grown ass woman with zero love interests who spends the movie saving her dog, casually dismantling a sex trafficking ring while she’s at it, and preaching the importance of being good, not nice or smiley or cheerful but good. I for one adored the movie and I really hope I’ll get to see more of Alcock’s Supergirl she’s now my favorite iteration of her and I love her so dearly.
This framing. Enough.
