SPEEDY J @ We Are Techno

ITA - La crew di Evilsound ha organizzato diversi eventi al Brancaleone, uno di questi portava il nome di "We Are Techno" e ci permise di ascoltare un dj set del compositore di una delle hit più famose degli anni 90, "Pullover", quella traccia minimal techno che venne elevata a inno da stadio dai tifosi del Feyenoord di Rotterdam, città natale dell'autore stesso, Jochem George Paap ovvero Speedy J.

ENG - Evilsound crew organized several events at Brancaleone, one of them named "We Are Techno", it allowed us to listen to a dj set of the composer of one of the most popular hits of the 90's, "Pullover" that Minimal techno track that was elevated to a hymn by Feyenoord fans in Rotterdam, the hometown of the author himself, Jochem George Paap a.k.a. Speedy J.

WE LOVE @ Branca Mon Amour

ITA - In occasione del ventennale, le produzioni del Brancaleone presero il nome di Branca Mon Amour, tenendo fede alla tradizione di nuove proposte e grandi nomi che già erano parte abituale della programmazione. Quel sabato di Aprile la serata era tutta all'insegna della B-Pitch Control, sul palco la fondatrice Ellen Allien accompagnata dal live dei We Love un duo toscano entrato nella sua scuderia grazie all'ammaliante mix di arti messo in gioco dai suoi protagonisti.

ENG - On the occasion of the twentieth anniversary, the productions of Brancaleone were named Branca Mon Amour, in keeping with the tradition of new proposals and big names that were already part of the usual programming. That Saturday of April the evening was all dedicated to the B-Pitch Control, on stage the founder Ellen Allien accompanied by the live set of We Love a Tuscan duo entered her roster thanks to the amusing mix of arts played by its protagonists.

DJ HYPE @ Agatha

ITA - Agatha ci ha sempre portato artisti fondamentali nella storia dei ritmi spezzati, quel Venerdì era il turno di Kevin Ford meglio noto come DJ HYPE, che a colpi di ragga, jungle, drum & bass ha scosso il dancefloor con uno stile unico. A presentare il suo dj set la voce del nostro amatissimo Riccardo Petitti.

ENG - Agatha has always brought us fundamental artists in the history of broken rhythms, that Friday was the turn of Kevin Ford a.k.a. DJ HYPE, which with shots of ragga, jungle, drum & bass shook the dancefloor in a unique style. To present his dj set the voice of our beloved Riccardo Petitti.

SEX GANG CHILDREN @ Black Sunday Festival 2

ITA - Al Brancaleone non sono mai mancati i live e una domenica d'Ottobre del 2004 la crew del Black Sunday Festival ci portò una delle band che ha segnato la storia del gothic rock e del post punk britannico, a salire sul palco quella sera furono i Sex Gang Children.

ITA - Quel sabato sera la consolle era in mano a Carl Craig, uno dei padri assoluti della Techno di Detroit, arrivato direttamente dalla Città dei Motori, culla di quella Techno che ha fatto da colonna sonora all'inizio di questo millennio. Godetevi queste 2 ore e mezza di set!

ENG - That saturday night Carl Craig was at the control, one of the absolute fathers of the Detroit Techno, directly landed from The Motor City, cradle of that kind of Techno that was the soundtrack for the beginning of this millennium. Enjoy these 2 hours and an half of music!

MOTEL CONNECTION live @ Brancaleone

ITA - Nel 2010 i Motel Connection erano di casa al Brancaleone e in quel mese di marzo si arrivò addirittura a due Sold Out di fila, qui potete ascoltare il bootleg della prima serata che si tenne sabato 20. Quella sera in troppi rimasero fuori convincendo il management della band e del club a fissare una seconda data per il martedì successivo, in quell'occasione anche Rai Music era sotto palco ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_uXO... )

ENG - On 2010 Motel Connection were ones of the family at Brancaleone and in that month of March they even came two Sold Out in a row, here you can listen to the bootleg of the first gig on saturday 20th. That night too many people couldn't get in and so management of the band and club had choosen to arrange for another gig on the next tuesday, that night there were also Rai Music under the stage ( https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6_uXO... )

One Love Hi Powa + Pow Pow Movement + Bass Odyssey @ Top a Top

ITA - Ogni anno One Love Hi Powa festeggiava il suo compleanno con una dancehall carica di ospiti di livello internazionale e quello del 2005 fu un Birthday Bash con i controfiocchi, al Top A Top sbarcarono Pow Pow Movement dalla Germania e Bass Odyssey dalla Jamaica!!!

ENG - Every year One Love Hi Powa was celebrating its birthday with a dancehall full of international guests and that of 2005 was an amazing Birthday Bash. They brought Pow Pow Movement from Germany and Bass Odyssey from Jamaica to Top A Top!!!

SURGERY @ Riot Afterlife Clubbing

ITA - All'inizio degli anni 10 il Brancaleone ospitava gli eventi organizzati dalla crew di RIOT Afterlife Clubbing, serate che proponevano dj set caratterizzati da sonorità EBM ed electro, passando per l’hard dance fino a un po' di dub step. Spesso in apertura si tenevano dei live e quel Sabato 1 Ottobre del 2001 fu il turno dei Surgery, band electro-industrial-metal romana con un impatto visivo e sonoro dirompente.

ENG - In the early 10s Brancaleone hosted events organized by the crew of RIOT Afterlife Clubbing, parties proposing DJ sets featuring EBM and electro sounds, through the hard dance to a bit of dub step. Often at the opening were held some live shows and that Saturday, October 1, 2001 it was the turn of Surgery, a Roman electro-industrial-metal band with a visual and acoustic disruptive impact.

ZONGAMIN @ Roma Europa Festival

ITA - Il Brancaleone è stato spesso scelto dallo staff del Romaeuropa Festival come una delle location per le performance musicali promosse dalla manifestazione. Quel Sabato 5 Novembre del 2005 il REF ci portò il live del nipponico Susumu Makai, musicista e producer noto con il moniker Zongamin proprio a ridosso dell'uscita della sua hit Bongo Song per la Ed Banger Records.

ENG - Brancaleone was often chosen by the staff of Romaeuropa Festival as one of the locations for the musical performances promoted by the event. That Saturday, 5 November 2005, the REF took us the live set of Susumu Makai, Japanese musician and producer known with the moniker Zongamin during the time close to the release of its own hit Bongo Song for Ed Banger Records.

IVAN SMAGGHE @ Agatha

ITA - Agatha non era una serata limitata all'interno dei confini di D'n'B e Breakbeat, benchè i djs resident ne fossero degli alfieri. Tra i vari ospiti capitavano anche artisti dediti all'Electro e in quell'inverno del 2004 arrivò in consolle Ivan Smagghe, dj francese, uno tra i primi a lasciare il segno nel panorama Electroclash dell'epoca in particolare con uscite di quell'anno come Death Disco e il mixato per la serie Bugged Out! Presents Suck My Deck.

ENG - Agatha was not an event limited within the boundaries of D'n'B and Breakbeat, though the resident djs were them pioneers. Among the many guests also came artists devoted to Electro and in that winter of 2004 a French DJ arrived at the console, Ivan Smagghe, one of the first to make his mark in the Electroclash scene of that era especially with releases like Death Disco and a mix for the series Bugged Out! Presents Suck My Deck.

ONE LOVE HI-POWA @ Top-A-Top

ITA - Per circa un decennio l'appuntamento fisso con la musica jamaicana a Roma è stato uno solo e portava il nome di Top-A-Top, inventori e resident djs della serata erano i membri del One Love Hi-Powa, il "Sound of Roma", pionieri italiani della dancehall. Ogni giovedì dubplates e ultime hit dal mondo del Reggae infiammavano la Main Room del Brancaleone tra un pull-up e l'altro fino all'ultima tune.

ENG - For about a decade the regular appointment with the Jamaican music in Rome was one and was known as Top-A-Top, inventors and resident DJs of the event were the members of One Love Hi-Powa, the "Sound of Rome", Italian pioneers of dancehall. Every Thursday dubplates and latest hits from the world of Reggae inflamed the Main Room of Brancaleone between a pull-up and the other up to the last tune.

LAURENT GARNIER @ Microhouse

ITA - Il 2 Aprile 2005 arrivò alla consolle del Brancaleone quello che oggi Wikipedia definisce una sorta di "mammasantissima" per la EDM d'oltralpe, Ladies And Gentlemen dal mio mirabolante archivio riesumato da una vecchia soffitta, ecco a voi il dj set di Monsieur Laurent Garnier!!!

ENG - On April 2, 2005 arrived at the console of Brancaleone what today Wikipedia Italia defines a "godfather" for the French EDM, Ladies And Gentlemen from my amazing archive exhumed from an old attic, here is the DJ set by Monsieur Laurent Garnier!!!

MISS KITTIN @ Microhouse

ITA - Già da qualche anno un'abitué del Brancaleone, Caroline Hervé a.k.a. Miss Kittin tornò anche il 5 marzo 2005 e questa volta il fedele recorder era con me. Circa due ore di musica con le quali mandò in visibilio il pubblico romano che la accolse calorosamente, tanto da affermare poco tempo dopo in una video intervista del 2007 che il posto in cui suonare a Roma era solo il Branca.

ENG - For some years a habitué of Brancaleone, Caroline Hervé a.k.a. Miss Kittin also returned March 5, 2005 and this time the loyal recorder was with me. About two hours of music with which she sent into raptures the roman audiences who received her warmly, much to be said shortly after in a video interview of 2007 that the place to play in Rome was only the Branca.

DOZZY & MATHEW JONSON @ Microhouse

ITA - Una delle serate Microhouse prese il nome di Space Edition e ospitò il canadese Mathew Jonson, membro dei Cobblestone Jazz e tra i fondatori della Wagon Repair. Quella sera divise la consolle con Donato Dozzy, allora dj resident, oggi affermatissimo sulla scena elettronica internazionale. Nella registrazione Dozzy suona in apertura e chiusura, mentre il set di Jonson è nella parte centrale, ci sono 3 o 4 salti nella traccia perchè quella notte il recorder fece le bizze.

ENG - One of the Microhouse events took the name Space Edition and hosted the Canadian Mathew Jonson, a member of the Cobblestone Jazz and one of the founders of Wagon Repair. That evening he divided the console with Donato Dozzy then resident DJ, famous today in the international electronic scene. In this recording Dozzy is playing for opening and closing, while the set of Jonson is in the central part, there are 3 or 4 jumps in the track   because that night the recorder had some problems.

BRISKEY live @ Microhouse

ITA - La serata che di sabato affollava il dancefloor del Brancaleone prendeva il nome di Microhouse, un mix che vedeva i djs resident alternarsi tra house e techno, mentre gli ospiti spaziavano dai dj set ai live delle eterogenee fore di elettronica che arrivava anche a toccare il Nu Jazz come accadde quel 2 Ottobre 2004, quando sul palco si esibirono i Briskey mescolando l'elettronica al jazz e al latin beat.

ENG - The event that on saturday was crowding the dancefloor of Brancaleone took the name of Microhouse, a mix that saw the resident DJs alternate between house and techno, while the guests musicians were ranging between live and dj set of heterogeneous forms of electronics that came even to touch Nu Jazz as happened on that October 2, 2004, when on stage they performed Briskey mixing electronics to jazz and latin beat.

RAINER TRÜBY dj set @ Agatha

ITA - In quel periodo Agatha sfornava dei fantastici flyer bimestrali rotondi e pieghevoli, che contenevano un bel po' di appuntamenti con nomi di rilevo della scena nazionale e internazionale, nello stesso disco cartonato che vi ho già proposto appare anche il nome di Rainer Trüby, poliedrico musicista e producer tedesco che portò il suo dj set nel dancefloor del Brancaleone il 5 Dicembre 2005

ENG - In that time Agatha churned out some fantastic round and folding bimonthly flyer that contained a lot of appointments with significant names from the national and international scene, in the same cardboard disc that I have proposed to you, also appears the name of Rainer Trüby, versatile musician and producer from Germany who led his dJ set in the dancefloor of Brancaleone on December 5, 2005

RICCARDO PETITTI dj set @ Agatha

ITA - Riccarco Petitti era una delle anime di Agatha che, insieme ad Andrea Lai, costruirono uno degli eventi di punta della scena underground romana tra la metà degli anni 90 e il decennio successivo. A settembre del 2014 Riccardo ci ha lasciati ed oggi, a due anni di distanza e a un decennio da quel venerdì 4 Febbraio 2005, in cui venne registrato questo bootleg, è doveroso consegnarlo alla memoria collettiva.

ENG - Riccarco Petitti was one of Agatha souls, with Andrea Lai, they built one of the leading events in the roman underground scene between the mid-90s and the following decade. In September 2014 Riccardo left us, and today, two years later, and in a decade from that Friday February 4th 2005, when it was recorded this bootleg, is right to give it to the collective memory.
