When we talk about being fat-positive and we say, “weight is not an indication of health,” I will reblog it. But I want us to also say, “health is not an indication of value.”

I could be at any weight and I will never be healthy, because I am chronically ill. Someone might be chronically ill and fat, or they might be chronically ill and not fat, and it really doesn’t matter.

When you make it about health, you’re saying health is the pinnacle of human achievement, and you’re shitting on those of us for whom health will always be a pipe dream.

Dating

You meet someone, it goes well, and then you start to date. You have netflix nights, you go the gym, you hang out with their friends and it feels amazing having someone you’re interested in and the feeling is finally mutual. No one has a higher ground. But then the dating game dwindles until it feels like you’re pushing for any gain. 

I’ve only ever seriously felt something for three men in my life and I am so tired at the age of 24 to be told each time that I’m an ‘awesome, lovely’ girl but I’m not right for them. It’s such a fucking irritant letting people in to then know it ends in avoiding them to not disturb your actual life. 

I’m 24, I know I want to progress in my current career and I’m self-confident. I’m just sad and frustrated because the thought of opening myself up to dating again just doesn’t appeal. I know this will change as the days go on and I change my attitude, but for now I want to have a little mope. Third times the charm isn’t always the case.

Whoever the next person in my life is, I hope they’re clued up...and have a dog.

“The camera adds 10 pounds” is a phrase of the past. Now people look better in their pictures than they do in person

When people say that the camera adds ten pounds it’s because cameras used in filmmaking/TV production have a wider focal length and therefore subjects look wider or bigger. Whereas cellphone cameras have a short focal length that makes subjects appear thinner or smaller.

Nowadays, with DSLR’s and a variety of lenses, we are able to depict a wide range of focal lengths by using one kind of camera.

So that is why most people on social media may seem to look thinner than they do in person (especially in selfies because the front facing camera on phones especially have short focal lengths).

And that is also how the phrase “the camera adds ten pounds” came about.
