Ace!John Sheppard is a fun headcanon to play with but a load bearing facet of such a headcanon is that he would Not know what that is. Absolutely crucial that that 30-40 year old man has no clue there's a word for it. Living with soldiers he is convinced everyone is obviously playing it up for laughs. #I have many thoughts about ace Sheppard and I actually love seeing different people's takes on this headcanon#(including takes where he Does know what that is)#but if I'm honest this is the version of ace Sheppard that resonates with me the most#I can just so clearly see him growing up as this painfully quiet kid. adorably nerdy and just the wrong side of awkward#by the time he gets to the air force he's learned to mirror/copy people around him when a social situation isn't going according to plan#and I actually think Sheppard was married before the pin finally dropped re: attraction#and he realized that interest in sex/romance isn't something that other people have to fake#just. there's something in the way Sheppard tells Ronon he 'wasn't very good' at being married. like it was a test & he was always failing#anyways... I digress#but do I think my ideal ace!Sheppard character journey doesn't really involve him finding a word to match his experiences#but with finding his people who he doesn't have to put on a show for

Also I am begging people that aren't impacted by orientalism to actually listen to the people who are about why we may not like the term yume. People will come up with every single thing they can to try to justify their use of the term and I'm sorry, but you should maybe stop and think about why it is that you see no issue with it when Asian people have repeatedly explained what the issue with the explosion in popularity of the term yume specifically is. Yume is a specific subculture online but it's an Asian subculture, and a lot of non-Asians have co-opted that while misusing terms related to it. Nobody is going to force you at gun point to stop using the term, but please consider why it is that you might immediately get defensive about your use of it when others have talked about how its popularity is a product of cultural appropriation

Hey so would it be okay if I make my s/i the opposite gender of me? Like I'm a cis woman but recently I've been imagining myself as a cis man when I'm with my f/o and I really feel comfortable with that and I really like it. Imagine them letting their guard down, dressing more casually, talking more or less, and resting around you. Imagine them being able to be vulnerable with you.
