“He does that a lot, yeah. He’s being all LOUD and “IT’S ALL ABOUT ME” and a jerk because he’s probably really insecure. Especially since he isn’t king anymore, he gets away with saying a lot of mean things.”

Emile really held his tongue there; usually, his sentences are peppered with lots of swearwords. But no, not around Nana.

Time to just go, kneel and give her a big hug.

“There you go. Can’t have people be sad when I’m around :D”

“Well, maybe he’s just really sad. Maybe he didn’t have any good friends when he was younger. Or he didn’t get enough desserts.” Nana suggested. “There’s often a number of reasons why someone might be grumpy, even if that grumpiness spans over hundreds of years!”

Nana happily embraced the warm hug. Now she was feeling happy instead of sad.

“N-Not really. It’s just…..Mr. Octavio and a bunch of other people are arguing and being rude and mean to each other……I just don’t like the fighting very much…” she wipes a single tear away.

Emile just looks at the other Octoling with concern - of course Octavio would be stirring trouble. Even though the older Octarian wasn’t king anymore, he still used any semblance of influence to go and voice his opinions.

“Octavio is…well, he loves to pick fights - he thinks he makes him look cooler when he goes around and taunt people he sees as lesser. He loves conflict.”

“Do you…like, do you need anything? Like, can I hug you or anything - is that a thing you’re okay with?”
