I love the generally fandom accepted idea that Shane forced himself to unlearn his gag reflex because he wanted a good grade in gay sex and is orally fixated and hates respecting his body’s limitations.
But another fun idea is that he still has a very strong gag reflex it just disappears completely when he gets horny enough. Don’t ask me questions but this IS a thing and I think it would make Ilya laugh a lot that Shane cant brush his teeth without gagging but can also deepthroat no problem.
