XAVIER DOLAN Filmography [2009-2014]
Sometimes love is not enough and the road gets tough, I don’t know why
Feet don’t fail me now Take me to the finish line
Le monde c'est une place ou qui a pas beaucoup d'espoir, mais moi j'aime ça penser qu'il y ait rempli de monde, rempli d'espoir.
Behind the scenes of Xavier Dolan’s Mommy.
hey i watched mommy cause you liked a lot, but i didnt :( like, it was good, but i dont think it was that awesome. i would like to know why do you love it so much? good day :) <3
Everyone has different opinions so I understand that you didn’t think it was ‘that awesome’.
I love it so much because of many different reasons;
1. First of all I’m a big Xavier Dolan fan (Writer, Director, Editor, Producer of the film) which adds to some part of it.
2. Since I am a huge Dolan fan, I love to see him improve through his movies and it makes me proud to see how far he’s come from his first film to this.
3. I studied Film & TV for two years so I see films differently than before I studied it. I look at certain things in a different matter and analyse films and what some things mean and how it was achieved etc. Which brings me to my next point:
4. Certain scenes makes me want to cry because it was so pretty for example the scene where Steve jumps on the bed with the curtains moving by the wind. so beautiful. The aspect ratio of the film was one part of why the film is so beautiful; some scenes looked like photographs because of the way it was shot with the aspect ratio and the lighting. When the screen got wider because of the dream sequence or when Steve ‘was free’. I love metaphors in movies.
5. I really enjoyed the soundtrack of the film which affects each viewer differently. Watching the beautiful cinematography with amazing songs is just, I can’t explain it, for example the last scene while it played Born To Die by Lana Del Ray was so beautiful and empowering.
6. The acting in this film was fucking amazing and I really appreciate great acting! Personally I believe films can not reach their true potential if the actors themselves are average.
I could go on for a while but I hope this makes sense and you understand why I love this film so much.
Today a part of me has died and I cannot mourn, because I’ve forgotten all the synonyms of “sadness”. Now, all that I can do without you is replace you.
Mommy (2014), dir: Xavier Dolan.
Life works that way. We deal with it. It’s the natural order of things, you’ll get that one day, bud.
I’d like to be taken in charge of as an actor, not to be abandoned with asinine dialogue and meaningless actions or stereotyped characters. I’d like to feel like I’m in a character driven story.
