Ok so, I am making a 2003's Au.
Basically is "what if Envy was 5% less evil and had 50% more trauma"
I am a firm believer that nurture > nature.
Envy did all that, started a genocide, killed for pleasure and everything... but they were also raised by a monster (Dante is also a lot worse in this au)
I have to rewatch Fma03 because it's been so long I do not remember all the details, so it is a work very much in progress, but the gist is:
- Envy (he/they pronouns in this au) does not kill Ed
- He is forced to face the psychological trauma his creator/mother caused him instead
- Trauma so strong they revert to their true form, unable to shapeshift
- Dante flees
- He will be forced to cooperate with his brothers to take her down
- While Envy spends time with his brothers (this au is full of sibling bonding moments), some of their humanity rubs on him. He unwittling walks the path to finally become "a real boy".
I need to write it down properly, but by the end of the au, Envy will make peace with who they are and settle for an appearance that is a mix of their previous preferred form and their true form.
so the process of making comics i guess because someone asked
1. it starts with a sketch
i sketch a bunch of pages in a row, this comic was sketched whole before i started coloring, comics like rotrd, breakfast and forced broadcast scetched by chapter at a time (we don't talk about 200 pages of fb sketched in advance...)
2. then, if i don't feel like scenes look good enough, i make a new sketch over the first one and rearrange the speech bubbles if needed.
Sorry, i forgor i was doing it, and finished without making screenshots of other phases, so, new page, stage 1 and 2 (as you can see i not always resketch every frame)
3. Making lineart (the longest part) (or the shortest, depends on the level of commitmenat and how clean the sketch was) (sometimes lineart is actually very clean sketch, but you still can tell)
4. Coloring!
background is green to make sure i don't have any unfilled pixels, it pops up almost on any color. If it doesn't i can use red or blue lol
If i decide to go hard with light and shadows, this is also the moment where i do so on the characters
5. Add details - in this case tears, but usually glasses/monocle...
6. Outline! it's either the fastest stage, or pure nightmare, nothing in between. Depends on how many characters are on page, and how much they overlaying each other and how complicated the poses are.
7. Background - usually simple gradient, sometimes it can be more complicated
8. Work with light, more often i don't do anything, but when i have some distinct sources of light, or even glowing eyes, this is where i add all the glow and particles.
9. finishing touches, white outline on the bolders, bring back the text, make sure it sits good on the page and the order of bubbles is easy to follow, and done!
SM-13 Submarine Concept Art And Model For Iron Lung
Molly Brown, creature creator and concept artist, share concept art of the SM-13 submarine, the titular Iron Lung. The details about giving it monstrous qualities to match the monster are especially fascinating.
Grimm Craft revealed their work on the project with creating a physical and a digital model of the interior of the sub.
"One particular piece I’m proud to have built for the film was a scale mock-up of the SM-13 submarine which I later nicknamed “the Dollhouse”. It consisted of three parts that could be opened for a side profile of the interior to allow Mark and the crew to plan camera shots.
In the beginning of production planning, I would spend time in the original game from @duskdeveloper to study the feel of the submarine as well as all of the details for the interior. I then modeled my full size interpretation of the set on my tablet using @shapr3d_official and printed the scale mock-up with PLA and used various paint techniques to better match it to the rusted aesthetic.
During early concept design, we discussed how the submarine would traverse the “blood ocean” floor. We eventually agreed on cylindrical screws, also commonly called a “screw tank”, that would make it feel more plausible compared to traditional “tank treads”."
I LOST SO MUCH SLEEP TRYING TO GET THIS DONE LORD- BUT I finished it!!! I'm pretty happy with this one. I was unsure about it at first bc I didn't like how I drew Simon the first time, but I redraw him and now he looks more like Mark!
I freaking loved this scene with the Shadowman. The design is insane, so I drew it from memory lol! But after watching Iron Lung again, I had to draw this scene. It was so creepy.
