What do you think happened to keith's house? From the flashback in ep2 we see that it was originally a 2-floor house with what appears to be The Shack™ next to it. Could it have been demolished when keith was taken away? but if so why didn't they demolish the shack too? Or could it be a completely new structure keith built himself? aaah so many questions!! DX But i'd love to hear your thoughts on this!
I’ve seen some theories going around that the house burned down, and I think there’s actually a lot of interesting implications to that, so let’s get to it:
In the BOM, I definitely think parts of that vision were drawn from repressed memories of his childhood. Keith and his father are repeatedly interrupted by the events unfolding outside. There’s even a moment where this great burst of fire flares up in a blinding flash of light. As soon as things start going wrong, Keith is immediately on the alert. Yet the entire time, Kogane is strangely clam. Again, I think this vision is built up by distorted fragments of very real memories. This exact talk about Keith’s mother and the blade never happened, but we did get snippets of a conversation that could have taken place when Keith was very young.
The ground shakes, there’s a dull roar, and Keith says, “What’s going on outside?” He’s terrified, but again, Kogane remains composed. He talks down to Keith as if he were still a child, reassuring him that everything’s alright. Like it’s just a passing storm, and you’re consoling a kid that’s scared by the thunder. He smiles and says, “Don’t worry about that.” “We’ll be fine as long as we stay in here.” Again, these are huge tells that something very similar happened when Keith was a child. His dad is trying to keep him calm, but tells him to stay inside. Tells him not to worry. Tries to convince him that everything will be fine, and even keeps the windows blocked off so his child can’t see. He’s quite literally keeping Keith in the dark.
And you know what? In the event of an actual crisis–particularly one with the galra when Keith is still too young to understand any of it–I’d expect Kogane to do exactly that. He’s trying to shield his son from all of this, to protect him the only way he knows how. I think it’s very possible another galra scout team–possibly sent to followup on the deaths of their prior group–went back to “finish the job.” So suddenly it’s chaos outside, the galra are looking for them, their house is burning, and Kogane is hiding with Keith in the shack, trying to convince him that everything will be fine and hiding as much from him as he possibly can, trying to keep him distracted. But kids are pretty smart, and they know the windows whiting out isn’t good. That loud noises, the ground shaking–that stuff can stick with your subconscious for years.
I’ve said this before, and I’ll say it again. I think the fact that Keith sees a galra ship attacking is very telling. It seems that, subconsciously, on some level, Keith knows what a galra invasion looks like. And after Razor’s Edge, I’m officially convinced that there’s no way the galra would just leave Kogane’s home in peace after Krolia has taken out two of their scout teams. It’s possible that a third mission back to Earth proved inconcusive and they were unable to hone in on the Blue Lion, but at the very least, I think the galra would try to track down the double agent that killed their teams. Here’s the thing–if the second scout team managed to get a message back to the empire, then the galra know that Krolia wasn’t alone.
So they knew about Kogane. But the one saving grace there is that they don’t know about Keith. I think it’s very likely Kogane ended up coming to that same conclusion. And, realizing that the galra might continually keep coming back for revenge as long as he was there, he made Keith hide in the shack and just went out to confront the galra himself. Just a sidenote, but I think Kogane would definitely have some advance notice to hide Keith. Yes, the ships spiralling down to Earth are definitely a dead giveaway, but there’s also the fact that Krolia’s blade seems to light up when other galra are nearby…? Pretty interesting, and I feel like that could come in handy.
I also think Kogane offering Keith Krolia’s blade in the BOM vision makes a lot of sense if this is right before Kogane dies–right when he decides to actually give him the blade. “Your mother gave it to me.” But now, there’s one more…extremely unsettling piece of this puzzle. Sure, it might be coincidence–or simply because Keith flew Red at the time–but it’s definitely worth mentioning. Because, in Keith’s vision–when the sky is blood red, and there’s fire and ash and smoke, when people are screaming–it’s the Red Lion he sees towering proudly above it all, as if it were in some way the architect of such destruction.
Here’s the thing–we know the galra had control of Red at the time. We know they thought Blue was in this exact place, and were trying to track it through tech that traced a signal compatible to the Red Lion. We also know Red is very strangely protective of Keith–and that, after this particular vision, Red can no longer stand idle and rushes to Keith’s rescue immediately. We also know Haggar still refers to Keith as the Red Paladin in season 6. So…what if Red had a hand in what happened to Keith’s father, and she very much regrets it?
Is it weird? I’m gonna make it weird.

Some fans: What the hell I can’t watch this show for the story they don’t know what they’re doing with the story.
I told my sister about it but she didn’t seem to notice the kid. I went straight to my parents. For some reason, I was scared out of my mind.
