Thoughts on Eizouken so far
I'm sure a large portion of you have already discovered this show, whether it be word of mouth or the mainly positive reviews, but for those who don't have a clue of what I'm talking about, here's a quick brief up to episode 3 (because that's how far I've watched):
The passionate Midori Asakusa and calculated Sayaka Kanamori accidentally collide with the child celebrity Tsubame Mizusaki in the middle of an anime screening, and agree to help her fulfil her dream of creating anime (behind her strict parent's backs) by finessing their way into creating an anime club under the title of 'Eizouken' or 'Video Research Club'- (according to animenewsnetwork.com). Now at Episode 3, the trio are faced with the deadline of creating a cheap but impactful animation to wow the school judges into giving them their own club budget.
Since Episode 3 sits the freshest in my mind, I'd like to comment on how amazingly everything has been planned out on it. The plot continues to be very intriguing, constantly grabbing the viewer's attention through abstract space adventures and hyperbolic near-death experiences, despite the real-time mundaneness of their situation (like the scene where Midori and Tsubame are stuck on their club roof pretending to be astronauts running out of oxygen when they really only needed a bathroom break). The soundtrack and voice of the characters are really refreshing as I've never heard something as 'funky' (for lack of better words) or such unique voices in other anime before, and the character design has been carefully chosen according to the trio's personality, such as Midori the circle, an open, bubbly persona, Sayaka the 'square', who is harsh, realistic and methodical, and finally Tsubame the diamond, whose face and hair shape has connotations of wealth, power and purity while also being sharp and cutting. These shapes can also be found in the background of each character's panel in the intro. Overall, I'm really happy with the show and can tell the creators are very passionate about what they're creating because of the immense amount of detail and care put into almost everything.
By the way, the intro song is 'Easy Breezy' by chemilco if you'd like to listen to it, it's too catchy!!
The Pokémon franchise’s refusal to commit to whether non-Pokémon animals exist raises some interesting questions about other categories of life. Clearly some (but not all) plants are not Pokémon, but what about, say, microorganisms? Are there single-celled Pokémon? Are bacteria tiny Pokémon? Do you have Pokémon living in you right now?

In Honor of Kyoto Animation
After these horrifying news, I’ve decided to do a recap on KyoAni’s main titles from their foundation until now as a homage for its staff, especially the victims and their families. We don’t know where the studio will be going from now, but we do know of its journey until the present moment. There were hits and there were misses, but it overall deserves appreciation now more than ever.
This is going to be a bit long but they deserve it all and more.

Personally, part of me wants to believe that these people will continue living through their creations, but what’s been done to them is unforgivable. We all know that this will definitely affect current and future projects of the studio, but let’s show only support for the survivors until they’re able to get back on track.
Stay strong, KyoAni!!
