The award-winning Mai Mai house, (or Duck Hut), is dubbed ‘the best little property in New Zealand.’ It looks feathery, like a duck, doesn’t it?
It doesn’t look like much in the day, but, the large white façade serves as a private screen by day, while at night, the same screen is used for showcasing beautiful images to the public.
The owners can up light it as it is.
Or, they can choose from a variety of projections, including several that look like the interior of the home.
The design of the house is meant for a couple. Once inside, you are immediately blown away by the view. As if you were in a glasshouse, you can see the entire city of Auckland as if you were on a perch.
It is both simple and sophisticated – urban yet ethnically inspired.
Inside the home, most of the interiors are completed with glass walls.
The wood staircase that leads to the upper level of the house.
The open kitchen area features portions of cabinets in wood and stainless steel, and the flooring for most parts of the interior have been completed in a simple shade of wood.
It has a large dining room.
One of the 2 bedrooms.
The modern bath.
The garage- you can’t even tell it’s there unless it’s open. The car even has it’s own lift.
