target practice | annie & baby
Setting: The Warehouse. March 14th, 2014. Midafternoon.
Annie had no particularly strong feelings toward Baby at this current point in time. She was, however, waiting for Baby to prove useful. Veronica was always able to recruit intelligent, capable girls, but so far, Baby hadn’t shown much. Annie hoped that she was one of those that would be full of surprises, sweet and innocent, but with some sort of venomous bite. However, Annie was skeptical. She was a regular Bambi, it was hard to believe that she could ever be a ruthless killer like the rest of them. Annie was outside, a few of her guns placed on the table, all safety measures taken. Annie was impulsive, but she wasn’t plain stupid. However, she didn’t like to be kept waiting.
Eventually, Baby appeared out in the back. Annie’s expression remained stoic as the cool wind whipped her ponytail around, loose strands framing her face. “About time, I was worried I was going to have to do some target practice,” Annie paused, “with wide-eyed new girls as the target.” Annie wouldn’t ever shoot her unless properly provoked, though, she just got a kick out of messing with her, hoping one day she could get the girl to snap and show her what she was made of. So far, there had been no result.
“Ready to learn how to shoot? Most important thing you’ll ever learn, saved my life a ton of times. Sure, other weapons are good, but in this business, I believe in being quick and accurate. You’ve shot before, right?” Annie asked hopefully, “You know the basics?” If so, they could just focus on dead-center aim. If not, Annie would start from the beginning and resist the urge to strangle the girl opposite her.
Baby hadn't expected Annie to offer her to teach her how to use a gun. She was so used to being ignored or pushed down. Yeah technically Baby was only offered this so she wouldn't have weighed down the team more than she probably already has...but it was something.
Baby had ran to her room in the warehouse to find the shotgun that was most likely collecting dust. Digging through her piles of clothes she searched for any sign of the weapon or bullets. Where did I put it? About halfway into the closet, she found the ammo but no gun. She sat up and pulled lightly at her hair. Getting up, she stared out her window trying to recollect any memory of where it could have last been.
Looking out the window may have not been the best idea because she lost five minutes, leaving her only five minutes to go out and meet Annie. There was a soft reflection in the window and as she started to look at herself, the butt of the gun had caught her eye. Turning around quickly she grabbed the gun and stuffed the small box in her pocket.
Barely making it outside before the deadline given, she was slightly relieved to not see Annie holding a gun ready to shoot her, but knew she could just pick it up and shoot her anyways. "Sorry," was all the younger girl could muster out. She walked over to the table, quietly taking in the most likely intended insult, mainly because she didn't know how to respond...properly anyways.
"I've shot this thing about twice...if that counts for anything. And I know that the gun kind of jumps back at you after each shot." Baby knew she was kind of hopeless with this. So she just bit the inside of her lip and waited.
