I know this is about characters from a show but I did not initially process this and without any specific context this is the funniest comic in the world
"Dude, your top surgery is choice," Carey says the moment Magnus's shirt is over his head and off. He preens a little because he deserved to. And because it was choice. He's very happy with the results. But then Carey adds, "Who'd you get it done by?"
"Oh! Uh," and here's where the problem lies. "I... don't remember."
"You don't remember," Carey repeats, sounding a little disbelieving. Killian looks over to them now and squints at Magnus's chest.
"Uhhh," Magnus says. "Nope."
"Did you get like, black market top surgery, or?"
"I... don't think so," Magnus says.
"Magnus," Killian says, "if you hadn't left your packer in the middle of our goddamn bathroom-" Magnus grins a little sheepishly and Carey laughs. "-I would literally not know you were trans. I don't even see any scars."
"It's been a while since I got it done," Magnus says.
"Which was when?" Carey prompts. At Magnus's face, she throws her hands up. "You don't remember!"
"It was a while ago!" Magnus says. "I was like- I don't know, twenty-one? Ish? Twenty-two?"
"Magnus," Carey says. She puts her foam sparring halberd down and comes over to him. "Magnus, did you just wake up one morning with them gone? This-" she looks on the verge of laughter. "This is serious."
"If I tell you the truth, you're gonna laugh," Magnus says.
"Magnus," Carey says, laughing anyway. "How do you forget a whole fucking surgery?"
"It wasn't a surgery, it was a spell," Magnus says, because he knows that much.
"Pretty sure that's not a thing," Killian says.
"Why else do they call it transmutation, then, huh?" Carey buries her head into Magnus's side, snorting with laughter. "Look, I know it was a spell. I know it. Do I know who did it? N-"
"Was it Taako?" Carey interrupts, full of giggles. Magnus pauses.
...Was it Taako?
"No," he said, shaking his head. "I met Taako like, last year. I'm pretty sure I would remember if he did my top surgery. Top spellery? Is that anything?"
"It's nothing," Carey says. "I'm-" she wipes her eye, clearing her throat. "Maybe it's like, a voidfish thing. Like, maybe the Director fucked up-"
"And specifically erased Magnus's top surgery?" Killian asks doubtfully.
"It's a big fish," Carey says, which just seems to make Killian more confused, but Magnus nods in understanding.
"It's a big fish, Killian," he says.
"Are we gonna fucking spar or not?" Killian asks. "I came here to beat ass not uncover Magnus's whole backstory."
"My backstory is actually pretty simple," Magnus says and Carey groans, retracting herself from him. "I was born in Raven's Roost on a swelteringly hot day-"
Killian hits him over the head with her foam halberd.

So this was a really personal project for me, after listening to TAZ i wanted to do something to show my love and appreciation for it, as well as get the chance to say goodbye to all the characters again. Hopefully that comes across (wow this is truly the dorkiest thing I’ve ever done)
Anyway feel free to ask why i picked which character for each Tarot card (trust me i thought way to far into it) and please listen to taz if you haven’t already!

if this is gonna be a time travel arc i think it would be kinda interesting if orlean succeeded in correcting his past mistakes and somehow that helps prevent the storm that ends the world.
so then in season two it’s just like, amber devo and zoox, but in a new timeline, on the surface, a surface that is healing or was never hurt in the first place, with no memory of what previously occurred.
but like time travel fucked stuff up in other ways and they end up coming together to fix it……….

The world doesn’t end.
This is great news for Amber, who lives there, though she doesn’t really think about it too hard at the time. She’s still a guppy when some fancy-pants wizard shit from Hominine figures out how to purify the magic that’s been muckin’ up the sea. At age five, she’s more concerned with splashing around in tide pools and playing shark hunter with Kimbra than she is with the fate of the planet.
It’s a big deal to the adults, though—'specially her daddy. Hard to be a fisherman when the sea’s all ganked up, she supposes. Amber’s mostly just glad it means they won’t have to sell the family boat.
Amber loves that boat. Amber loves the ocean; was practically born to sail it. And if some nights she dreams ofd sharks with too many teeth and a city under the sea, well, it don’t gotta mean nothin’ if she don’t let it. It’s just her imagination actin’ up after too much sugar before bed: that’s why her stomach hurts. That’s what she’ll keep telling herself, at least.
She tries not to think about it. Amber sets that churning wave feeling outta her mind for years to come. She’s got more pressing things to worry about. For example, today—dodging those preachers from the Parish who always hang out by the docks.
Like, she gets it—their guy stopped the apocalypse, basically, and also saved everyone’s lives. That was nice of him. But have they considered that the dude has, like, a very punchable face, one that sucks barnacles and looks like a big turd? Seriously, it’s uncanny. Amber gets mad just lookin’ at it. Maybe if they stopped putting him on the front of their pamphlets then she’d wanna read it.
Well, okay, the Parish probably don’t wanna talk to Amber no more anyway. She probably could have kept the thing about the guy’s hairline to herself. Least it means she can head straight to her boat without getting hassled none.
Amber knows something’s wrong the moment she sets foot on the Song. She gives the deck a once-over. Nets ain’t cut. That’s good. She sidles up to the cabin door. Inside, she hears humming.
Fuck. Okay. Okay. Not like she didn’t expect this at one point or another, though she always thought it’d be one of Supreme’s goons. Fuck. Count of three. One. Two. Wait, is she supposed to burst in on three, or when she says go? Wait, she shouldn’t say go. That’d ruin the element of surprise. Shit. Three. Shit -
The door swings open.
A tall, slender—dare Amber say pretty—young man stands at the threshold. Amber stops thinking and aims for his throat. The man coughs and crumples to the ground like a cut line.
“Jesus, Amber,” he says, wheezing, “Fuck! Ow! You did not have to hit me that hard!”
“Like hell I didn’t,” Amber says, looming over him. “Now, you wanna tell me who you are and why you’re breakin’ and enterin’ onto my private property, monsieur?”
“I don’t sound like that. I am only vaguely French.”
“You sound a little like that.”
“Rude, but fair. Help me up?”
Amber does not do this, on account of her not being a huge dummy. After a long moment, the man—boy, really, this kid’s a tadpole—rolls his eyes and stands. Then he does something truly horrifying: he leans in and pulls Amber into a crushing hug.
“I cannot believe I am saying this, but I have missed you quite a bit. It is so good to see your face.”
“Well, gee. That is kind. I wish I could say the same, except, I have no idea who you are. But thank you.”
The man finally pulls back, and Amber pretends like it doesn’t feel like losing a second set of arms. He smiles at her, not a little sadly. “I know. I will explain,” he says. “My name is Devo La Main. You, Amber, are going to help me kill Benefactor Orlean, and together we are going to end the world.“
