As promised, I share my celebration of theogamia with you <3
Purification with khernips
Opening prayer to Hestia:
I make my offerings, to our beloved goddess. At home, pronounce her name, eldest daughter of the powerful Kronos and her mother Rhea. I bring you the first taste and the last, origin and source of our well-being.
Reading of the Homeric hymn N° 15 to Zeus:
O Zeus, much-honoured, Zeus supremely great, to thee our holy rites we consecrate, our prayers and expiations, king divine, for all things to produce with ease through mind is thine. Hence mother earth and mountains swelling high proceed from thee, the deep and all within the sky. Kronion king, descending from above, magnanimous, commanding, sceptred Zeus; all-parent, principle and end of all, whose power almighty shakes this earthly ball; even nature trembles at thy mighty nod, loud-sounding, armed with lightning, thundering god. Source of abundance, purifying king, O various-formed, from whom all natures spring; propitious hear my prayer, give blameless health, with peace divine, and necessary wealth
Reading of the Orphic hymn N° 16 to Hera:
O Royal Hera of majestic mien, aerial-form'd, divine, Zeus's blessed queen,
Thron'd in the bosom of cærulean air, the race of mortals is thy constant care.
The cooling gales thy pow'r alone inspires, which nourish life, which ev'ry life desires.
Mother of clouds and winds, from thee alone producing all things, mortal life is known:
All natures share thy temp'rament divine, and universal sway alone is thine.
With founding blasts of wind, the swelling sea and rolling rivers roar, when shook by thee.
Come, blessed Goddess, fam'd almighty queen, with aspect kind, rejoicing and serene.
Reading of the Homeric hymn N° 12 to Hera:
I sing of golden-throned Hera whom Rhea bare. Queen of the immortals is she, surpassing all in beauty: she is the sister and the wife of loud-thundering Zeus, - the glorious one whom all the blessed throughout high Olympus reverence and honour even as Zeus who delights in thunder.
Prayers:
O Hera, wife of the Thunder Zeus, you who have never ceased to be faithful to your husband, and who are unworthy of those who defile your sacred union, you, the blessed Queen of the gods, I come to this sacred place to honor your sacred vows, to pay homage to the meaning of this union.
O Hera, grant me a lover as faithful as you. May he honor our union as you honor yours. Blessed Hera, I give thanks to you and glorify you!
Zeus, spouse of the Golden Throne of Hera, you, King of the gods and Supreme Councilor, you, Supreme Judge and Protector of the Sacred, I come to you, wishing only the greatest blessings for your union.
I beg you to bless me with a lover as faithful as yours, a man who understands and supports me as I will support him in all his trials. O Great Zeus, I give you thanks and glorify you! Let it be so!
Offerings (to be consumed or placed on the altar):
- olive oil
- cinnamon apple and honey
- hot milk
- flowers
- jasmine and myrrh incense
Closing prayer in Hestia:
O Goddess Hestia! Your power extends over all the altars and hearths. Thus all prayers and sacrifices end with you, dear goddess, you are our guardian.
