"It wasn’t me." (Elektra)

Elektra stepped out of the darkness and into the light of a street lamp, “No, it was me.” Both she and her sais were covered in blood, as was the member of the Hand at the man’s feet. Still, she told him, “He’s not dead, just unconscious. And there’s a trail of others just like him going half a mile back. Because his kind are like cockroaches - where there’s one, many more will follow. Which is why, if you want to live, you’ll get the hell out of here. We both will. Let’s go.” She started to lead the way out of the side street, making a quick right and then a left in an attempt to put as much distance between herself and them as possible.

James had seen the woman in the shadows, but hadn't expected her to come out with sais, of all things, dripping with blood. For a split-second, he wondered if he should ready himself for a fight, but she didn't appear to want to fight him. He wondered if this woman was saving him some work, since he was "investigating" some criminals in the area.

"If you say so" he said, already thinking this wasn't a good area to be in. He thought he could hear someone running in the distance--someone besides him and this mystery woman. He wasn't about to stick around and find out who it was. He followed her since she seemed to know where she was going.

"You're not going to go running through the middle of the city with those bloody weapons, are you?" he asked.

"I never disappear FOREVER," Svetlana merely said as she leaned against the doorway when he has it cracked. "I could possibly die, but I'm NEVER REALLY dead." It was a partial tease, but she doesn't tease. She's always been strong, too strong sometimes. She had moved back from spending her missions in Russia with her returning time in Ruska Roma, bringing back CHILDHOOD memories. First one she had sought out for in her return was James, since they had always worked so well together and they seemed to tolerate each other enough.

"I moved in quite close to here. Dimitri and Boris wanted a nice yard to run in." Svetlana spoke of her beloved DOBERMANS. She had a good way of finding people and she had purposely found a home near James' for that purpose.

"No, no needing. Just merely here for a friendly CONVERSATION." she shrugged. "Thought we could catch up over a drink." Which is when she pulled a large bottle of vodka from her ' purse ' and held it towards him. "It has been awhile. I want to see if you can handle your LIQUOR."

"Well, you obviously didn't die, regardless of what you say about it" James replied. He couldn't say he thought she was dead. It had occurred to him it was a possibility. "You still got the dogs" he said, more an observation than anything.

He pushed a chair back from the table and sat down in his own chair. "Let's take a seat and talk then. Oh no, you're here for 18 seconds and already wanting to drink." James had never been a particularly big alcohol drinker himself, though some people had brought it out of him. "I got to be honest, I don't have much other than a few beers." He'd been saving those for the weekend. "No vodka or whiskey or nothing real strong. Hope you ain't too disappointed."

Lizzie knew it. She knew it. She knew James was a bit attracted to her. Her eyebrow was already cocked, the smirk threatening to become a full grin. "I knew it James, you should've said something." Facing James fully, she started sauntering towards him. "Wanna do something?? Right now??"

James had been caught, but he wasn't too worried. Especially since Lizzie didn't seem particularly offended, and in fact, appeared flattered.

"It was...there" he said, not sure how to follow up on that. He was a little surprised by how she walked right up to him. "Er, maybe, what exactly do you have in mind?"

"I didn't, either, given how much of a rush we were in" he admitted, almost kicking himself literally for it. "I'd bet against it, but it's definitely a possibility. I'd guess somebody would've caught up to us by now, though."

They stopped at the gate for Alyssa to talk to the guard, who waved them on through once he saw it was her. Though based on his behavior, Ella must've alerted the guards to expect them. James drove his truck on through. It was a bit more of a drive to get to the house.

Alyssa seemed in a little better shape now. She was speaking more clearly and not in a half-catatonic state.

"Yeah" he said, locking the truck. He figured Ella would want to know just what in the hell happened, at the very least, figure out who abducted Alyssa. She might want him to stick around her sister.

James followed her inside the house as a guard James recognized but didn't know held it open. They found out Ella wasn't here. She and James would no doubt talk about it later.

"Er..." he said, then she clarified what she meant. He had to admit, at first, it did sound like she was inviting him into the shower. "I'll go up and stay outside in the hall" he said, trying not to laugh at the brief misunderstanding. It probably wouldn't have been good for Alyssa.

He walked with her up the stairs. "Nice place. Lots of security, even for your family's standards." He hoped that would make Alyssa feel safer.

Arriving to the compound, Alyssa let out a quiet sigh of relief. She felt better, still scared, but, at least she knew the home and the grounds were very secure with extra guards and plenty of security around the property. There was likely no place safer than this, in general. Finally in the home, the brunette visibly relaxed. She didn’t feel so scattered now, glad that some of that shock had worn off. Her mind still replayed the events in her head, but she was trying hard not to think about it. As it was, she trusted her twin would figure out what happened and deal with whomever tried to take her. That was the extent of what she desired to know, not having the stomach for the violence – as it was clearly the case.

Looking back at James, Alyssa blushed at her verbal trip up. She was known to flirt, certainly, but this was one time she hadn’t intended it that way – even if she was attracted to James. “Sorry,” she murmured softly at the way she’d said it. “Ok, yeah that – that’d be good. I’d feel better if you’re not too far… um… just in case.” She knew it wasn’t rational. There was so much security, it’d be impressive if someone made it to her old bedroom, to the bathroom she’d shared with Ella growing up. Heading up the steps with James, she gave a small nod, “Thank you,” she offered, though she really hadn’t much to do with the appearance of the home except a couple suggestions when her father redecorated years back simply to update the home. “Ella said she sent more guards here to make sure it was safe,” she explained, not remembering if she had said that already. “I won’t be too long,” she assured.

Heading into her old room first, which had some clothes in it, she grabbed a clean pair of pants and a blouse to change into. Taking the items to the bathroom, it was still stocked. Her father made sure the two rooms were set up if the girls ever came by or slept there. It wasn’t common, but was certainly an option for them. Closing the door, she took a hot shower, unintentionally staying in there longer than she’d stated. It wasn’t terribly long, but certainly not a short shower. By the time she finished, she felt a bit more like herself. She took her time drying off, drying her hair before dressing once more in clean clothes. Coming out, she smiled softly over at James, “Thank you – for staying up here with me. I – I know it’s silly but I’m scared to be alone.”

"Yeah, I'll be out here until you finish" he said. "I'll be within hearing range." Though James figured if someone attacked them here, and got to the point he was having to fight someone, they'd brought a small army with them to get past all the security and he probably wouldn't last long against that, either. No need to say that, though, especially since the chances were incredibly low.

He stood outside the bedroom door, to the right when looking out the door. A couple of other guards passed, luckily guys he'd met before. One of them asked about Alyssa and James gave an abbreviated rundown of what happened, then the guy moved on and sat in a room down the hall.

It wasn't long after that conversation finished when Alyssa came back out. She looked a lot better than she had before, and not just in the sense she didn't look so rough.

"I understand" he said. "Considering what you went through." Alyssa needed to tell how she'd been taken, but James wanted to wait until Ella got there, or could call, to get into all of that. "You feel better? You look better" he added, hoping it would help Alyssa's spirits.
