Been working on this on and off for a couple of days now. Then I kinda got lost and hit a wall. I can’t fix Dean’s face and the overall look of the scene. Normally I delete the file at that point. But I promised myself to stop doing that and see the positives in my art. This is my anonymous, spn centric art dump thing, a safe space for me. No risk of “ruining” my real portfolio. So here’s the cropped and grain filtered version as an attempt to salvage what I have done so far. I really like Cas and the reverse lighting on the hands in this one. Hoping to paint something like this again, preferably in oils or acrylics.

The colors look different on my iPad, phone and computer so I hope it looks somewhat alright on your screen

(Grayscale boring value study -> slap on bisexual gradient mapping because I am too lazy to do proper coloring -> it looks like a bisexual gradient map slapped onto a grayscale boring value study -> go on a blending spree with turpentine brush my beloved)

Inspiration process: scrolling through an endless stream of ufc shorts on youtube for some reason -> i need to look up chokehold technique videos -> damn that girl is choking her opponent like the giant octopus in the final fight of the iconic movie mega shark vs giant octopus -> hey what if I made a shark mermaid and an octopus mermaid character and made them fight in an aquarium and the referee is a scuba diver -> no that’s too much work I know literally nothing about designing anthropomorphic characters i don’t even like mermaids -> okay hear me out what if the shark mermaid was our best friend dean winchester -> i can’t believe this is how we are getting out of our art block -> why are we plural we were singular back in our native language ->

I’m not gonna finish this one because I got bored with the mermaid vibes already. I love sharks, I love Dean, but I’m not feeling shark Dean lol. Plus I didn’t use a reference so the pose/scene is too bland and boring to keep working on. Sharing in case someone likes it 🦈
