Now I’m “officially” an adult once more

Now my license is horizontal

I’ve finally made it

Yet it all feels the same

The same people

The same places

Nothing has changed except my fear of getting older

My fear of growing up

I’ve finally made it

And I’m still as confused as I was 6 years ago

something that’s happened before

seeing you at your vulnerable state

i feel like i need to protect you from something

maybe from yourself

Gentle

Without asking

Your hands are on my back

Pushing me lightly

As I come back down

Your hands are on my back once more

I’ve played this scene out in my head a million times

It used to be a dream

A place of peace

Now it’s my reality

Wind through my hair as I swing back and forth

Your eyes on me; content

We walk on the path leading us to our next destination

Which will leave us sitting lake side

Your face buried in my neck

Your arms wrapped around me so lovingly

Our legs intertwined like vines on our sacred oak trees

A place we were born again

In and out

Over and under

The humming of your satisfaction

Content in this moment

You’re gentle today

I’ve never seen you so soft

I can’t remember the last time you looked at me this way

But your puppy eyes show too well

It’s as if you’ve fallen for me all over again

I’ve missed this feeling

And I can tell you have too

It’s as though I have you wrapped around my finger

Crawling at my feet

Kneeling beneath me

Your kisses so sweet

Dotting across my face only to land beneath my Cupid’s bow

Our first encounter since forever

Maybe the last of what could have been many

We converse in an awkward fashion but the words flow

This feels like how it used to;

Enemies now trying to make it work

Strange how someone could make us loathe each other so much

Love brought us back together

But in the end pettiness will tear us apart

Just as it always does.

We now converse in excitement

Awaiting a film similar to our story

A character we both played

The play he starred in

The play he loved watching

As the music now fills the theater, I hear your excitement

You lean forward

In an attempt to catch my attention, I assume

I can feel your eyes on me even when I’m not looking

Words being sung that we both know too well

A boy we undoubtedly lose to.

Similar to the words being sung,

Your friendship was a roller coaster

As it still is

It was chaotic

A feeling we both know

A feeling we both love

A life we both lived

Once more, I try to remain a constant in your life

But a good kind

Still wishing to go back to how it used to be, right as our final year approached

It is up to you if you allow it

Just wanting you to let me know.

Such a soft scene

Your skin golden

Your lap warm

Closing my eyes, I can hear you breathing

I love this scene

You love this scene

We have finally reached our destination

My head in your lap

Your lips on my cheek

Such a soft scene

Your smile so wide your eyes disappear

I could stay like this forever,
