I have no clue if he ever talks about me, we don't really see eachother much, I have a bit of a habit of dissappearing at random. whoops
I don't do any of the hard hitting type of jobs anymore, one too many injuries and you end up with chronic pain that forces you to stop and makes you need a cane...
i can still fight if needed though, just don't tell my doctor

I think I've read most of the comics he's got a bigger role in and I'll try to play him as best as I can, while adding in my own personal headcanons like him being gay, the first time I saw him I thought that's a gay man and I've been running with that ever since

I like to ignore the whole living on a deserted island thing he got going on in all-new hawkeye, I can't keep myself from thinking about the psychological effects the isolation would have on him and Simone and especially the kids,,
He still was together with Simone for a bit, but quickly realised that he's actually gay (took him long enough) so they broke up, no hard feelings though, they're on good terms
spending time as holidays there, sure, living there? no.
the chronic pain and cane part is me projecting, but considering the way his life has been going, I don't think it's too far fetched for that to be a thing
it's mainly his back giving him issues and joints like his knees and shoulders
he's not fully retired, but just working something like an office job (I'll try my best to make it accurate, but I can't work so no promises)
my version of barney is in therapy and has been for a while, he's worked a lot on himself and his excessive amount of trauma
