Independent bookstores, and booksellers, get a lifeline just when they need it most.
Despite me being a know-it-all, I actually love being with someone who can teach me things or is skilled in areas that I am not. Most importantly I love bearing witness to my partner being actively engaged in whatever they have a passion for.

SUCK ON MY BALLS!
Brown boys arenât taught how to be open, communicative, or honest about our sadness. The resulting isolation is slowly killing us. Learning to love yourself is a lifelong journey that often feels impossible, but by bridging the fragmented parts of ourselves, our vulnerability will allow us to build a world where we can love and be loved
I promised I would be more vulnerable and that I would write more this year. Here, in my first published piece of writing, I do both.Â
âSelf-sabotage is often a way of avoiding that moment of showing up, of facing potential loss, of being strong enough and courageous enough to surrender to the unknown â but also, to surrender to the goodness of ordinary human beings.â âWhen weâre immature and addicted to fantasies and we resist surrender, when we live in the world of âI have to be on top, charming, impressive, better than anyone else, and only then will I deserve love/success/happiness/high-caliber friends and lovers,â we view surrender and being present as the realm of sad drippy nothing people who speak in sentimental cliches but fail to set themselves apart, who connect but arenât original, who commune with others, but only because theyâre a little simple or a little stupid. Or theyâre suckers who will get hurt eventually. Or all of the above. The beauty of surrender, though, is that, contrary to your prejudices against it, it isnât stagnant and sad. It doesnât keep you small or hurt. It propels you forward, into a world of connection and feeling that not only generates more love and inspiration and hope, but also gives you inspired, clear, focused, generous energy that you can share with anyone. Itâs so sad that the active resistance to high-capitalist fantasies is painted as the stuff of hippies and commies and losers in our commerce-dominated world, because itâs the difference between alienated suffering and feeling alive and good and real and in love, not just with one person but with the whole world.â
Ask Polly:Â âHow Do I Stop Sabotaging My Amazing New Relationship?â
How do you deal with being sensitive ? I hate being sensitive and wish I had more of a back bone but I feel things deeply and I just get so swept up by emotion.
Being sensitive is being open and receptive and allowing your heart to do its work whenever there is work to be done. Your emotions are not there to be escaped from or dealt with. They are there to be felt. âWhyâ you feel them is not important. âHowâ you feel them is everything. Having a strong back bone means being present in your feelings and powerfully filtering them both consciously and subconsciously. Itâs a subjectively beautiful ongoing process. Destroy the idea that being sensitive has to do with weakness.

"Work hard, stay bumble" is their nonprofit motto.
A pair of Detroit natives have decided to combat neighborhood blight in a pretty sweet way â by transforming abandoned vacant lots in their city into honeybee farms.
Detroit Hives, a nonprofit organization founded by Timothy Paule and Nicole Lindsey in 2017, purchases vacant properties and remodels them into fully functioning bee farms.
âThese properties are left abandoned and serve as a dumping ground in most cases,â. âThe area can be a breeding ground for environmental hazards, which creates a stigma around the city.â
How to Make an Attractive City // The School of Life
a very clever, well-designed and enjoyable video!
This is a great video because it highlights why a democratically-planned economy can meet our desires for aesthetic beauty where we live. It never explicitly calls for a post-capitalist economy, but there is an emphasis on planning in accordance with community interests â and that requires an egalitarian for-need economy. We have the technology and know-how to eliminate the alienation of grey urban sprawl and replace it with colorful cultural centers and vibrant ecotopias, but capitalism doesnât let us do that; our living spaces are always beholden to the profit demands of the richest elites in town. We can do so much better.
