Just a bit of a grumble

Like, I can’t really call it a rant if I’m not angry, right? No, not about the Tumblr apocalypse, just, something that happened on F-chat that sort of just had me sighing and logging off.

So, I play all sorts of characters, from all manner of canons. I get how some of them can incite frustration. (It’s practically the normal to instantly despise someone for picking Teemo in League, for instance) but, how is it people find it okay to rant about their hang-ups over certain characters to total strangers that just happen to be roleplaying as those characters?

Like, I expected it to a certain degree on my old Teemo profile, though the degree and regularity of it ultimately had me deleting that character from my modest list because it was getting harder and harder to go, “it’s fine, he’s cute and fluffy, there’s a niche that does enjoy you playing him” when every other line when I’d be active in a channel amounted to “Fuck off, Teemo”.

More recently, like the event that has me typing up this rambling line of monologue was just me popping into a channel on my Brightwing character, ya know, adorable little Faerie Dragon from Warcraft/Heroes of the Storm? I just felt like goofing and this person just, rants at me, “Fucking Brightwing stupid as invisible, unremovable/unavoidable AoE bullshit” and I’m just, “??? I’m not the one that designed her in-game, I mostly just like her personality and appearance.” And it just, hit me all at once that it’s like, “fuck, guess I’m not wanted” and I just,, closed F-chat out, walked off and made myself a bagel, cinnamon-raisin with two slices of ham by the way, and then started typing this up while listening to a Let’s play.

I don’t know where I’m going with this besides the fact that behind every character being played on any site/medium, no matter how much you hate that character as they are in their respective game/show/book, it’s important to remember that there’s a human behind them and that humans are fragile things no matter how much they might try to put on a tough exterior. We feel bad, we get sad, we get angry, and then we stuff a bagel down our throats and complain about or problem, no matter how small, trivial, or even overwhelmingly large it is we just try to get it out of our system and maybe, just don’t be a fucking asshole towards someone, even if you don’t intend for it to be taken that way, over the character they’re playing, since ya know, they’re probably not the one who designed the thing that frustrates the piss out of you in your favorite MOBA.
