Breaking News from the 2026 Milano-Cortina Winter Olympics: This is Nazgul, he is a 2-year old Czechoslovakian wolfdog who joined the last part of the women's cross country team ski sprint qualifier. He lives nearby with his owner, a relative of an Olympic official. His owner thinks he was upset being left at home and likely escaped to follow them to the event. He didn't bother the athletes or affect their runs. He even crossed the line and triggerred the photo finish camera. He is described as stubborn but very sweet. 13/10 Certified Good Boy and also a bit of a rascal.

Nazgul sprints on the course at a cross-country ski race, crossing the finish line in an unsanctioned quest for glory.

"Two-year-old Nazgul was quickly collared by race officials and returned unharmed to his home at a nearby bed-and-breakfast [...] his his owners are related to an event official, who connected them with NPR for a brief interview while they were driving to watch an Olympic biathlon race at another venue. "He was crying this morning more than normal because he was seeing us leaving — and I think he just wanted to follow us," said the owner."
