He nodded, because the other kids Mommys weren’t here, so if his Mommy had to go in to save them he could spare moments alone from her for it. Breathing out he held her again hiding his face. “Okay.” He agreed. “Only if you promise to come back quickly.”

“I mommy promised.” She reassured with a grin as she rubbed the tip of her nose against his and gave him one more tight squeeze before putting him down and holding his hand tight that way she could defend them with her powers in a split second notice if need be.

“No.” He mumbled. “No you can’t go Mommy, no.” He shook his head because if she left….even if it was Aunt Jean it wasn’t Mommy, and he didn’t want her to go back inside the building once they were out because she might never come back out like him and if she was in there no one would be out to rescue her. He didn’t want to let go of her either. Fingers tight on her outfit as she carried him from the building.

She craned her head back a bit to put enough distance between them to make eye contact.

“I tell ya what...If we get to the ship, and everyone is there except the adults, I will stay with you and I’ll send someone else to go help daddy, ok? But the faster we go, the sooner we get to go home.” She was hoping he’d understand. God it felt so good to be talking to her son.

He was to big to be carried by anyone but Peter now but she didn’t seem to have an issue lifting him and he didn’t argue it curling tightly against her afraid to move away, afraid if he did she’d be gone in a second. “I was scared Mommy.” He whispered sniffing. “I don’t like needles. I don’t….and everytime I cried they were really mean. Really really mean….I just wanted you and Daddy, and sissy, and Heather….I wanted you.”

Her heart was breaking at his words and his tears, and she didn’t even mind that her arms were starting to ache as the adrenaline was wearing off and she could feel the weight of him in her arms. She wasn’t going to let go.

“Come on, honey. Aunt Jean is helping some kids get to the X-Jet, remember? The big jet? You are going to get to ride in it!! I’m gonna take you there so that you can be safe while I help daddy, ok?” She was going to say ‘help daddy find your sisters-’ but she wasn’t sure he knew the other two were here and she didn’t want him to get worried.

There was a lot of noise outside, and her covered his ears curling up tightly and looking at the door hoping he wasn’t in trouble. He was good today, really good he didn’t cry once he couldn’t fathom why he’d be in trouble and then the door was opening, his eyes widening at his Mom coming in and crouching down.

“Mommy!” He couldn’t run fast enough slamming into her and wrapping around her as tight as he could. “Mommy” He sobbed again. She came for him, he was scared and now she was here and everything was going to be okay. He sobbed into her neck fingers curling into her uniform.

“Awww honey, I love you soooo sooo much!” She laughed and showered him with kisses, unable to contain her happiness as his tiny body almost knocked her off her feet with the force with which he hugged her. She scooped him up, him never letting go of her for a moment as she stood. Tears still running down her own cheeks as she gave a few more kisses.

“Mommy is so, so sorry she didn’t get here sooner. She is so sorry that you were gone. Daddy is here to! We’re gonna go home and everything is going to be okay, okay?” She searched his eyes, wondering how much the poor boy had been through.

Tabby grabbed one of the nurses by the back of the head and shoved her down against the door- hollering at her to punch in the key code. The other nurses fleeing in fear- and one threatening to pull an alarm before Tabby shot a flash bomb in front of the woman’s eyes to temporarily blind her. She ran and the woman whom had her hair tangled in Tabby’s fist was putting in the code frantically- messin up a few times in panic.

Once the door open Tabby shoved the woman hard to the side, and the woman’s hip made a loud noise as it crashed into the floor. Tabby looked into the room to see her precious boy, seemingly almost unscathed? Could it be? He looked so sad and small and all Tabby could do for a moment was smile wide as tears rushed down her cheeks. She crouched down holding her arms out wide.

“Hey baby...”

She raised an eyebrow and shrugged. Well okay, they could learn to do new stuff no one said they couldn’t and it was better than setting off bombs and setting off alarms. “Alright let’s go.” She laughed it wasn’t hard to take down guards that got in their way either. With bombs, or Jean slamming them together or against the walls. They could probably make it through undetected via guards, and Warren covered the cameras. So hopefully they could steal the kids back under the nose of this asshole.

Tabby was going to say something when Azari’s voice broke through the comms. That was a lot of kids to sneak out with one person, but they had to do it before too many guards took notice. She looked at Jean with a soft smile as she clicked her comm and responded on all the channels.

“Jean will meet up with Spyke to help get them all to the jet safely.” She put a firm hand on her friend’s shoulder.

“Go help him get those kids to safety. I’m going to find my kids. You can meet me back inside. Be safe.”

“Or should I?”

She leaned against the wall with the other, she couldn’t feel them, meaning they were guarded somehow probably the same way the children were. “Have at them Mom.” She gestured, knowing the other had a lot of pent up emotion she had to keep under control. “I’ll get the next batch.” After this they’d probably trigger something, explosions tended to do that.

Tabby had been practicing to keep from losing her mind once they knew who had taken them but still couldn’t find them. And she had gotten damn good. She rolled the bomb towards them, golf ball sized. All looked down at it, and as she whispered ‘shhhhh’ it exploded in a bright flash but their was absolutely no sound other than the sound of the guys hitting the ground and a chair hitting the wall from the force.

She turned to grin at Jean.

“Shall we”

They didn’t even know if all of them were here, just one and not even which one. She made a face at the comment about Heather, that…that was fucked up. That poor girl. “We can ask the boys which way there going.” Scott and Warren went ahead, Azari and Spyke following behind and now it was their turn. Staggered out to offer all clears just in case he had a crazy defense set up not all would go at once.

Tabby was walking as quiet as she could, speaking softly to Jean.

“I wonder if the other kids are here...if we find them...what will they say to their parents?” She wondered as they were about to head around a corner when there were guards and Tabby put her hand over Jean keeping her flat against the wall.

“Men.” she peeked around the corner again carefully. “Three of them, armed it looks like, but I can’t tell with what. If there are guards that way, it must be a good place to go lookin’.” “You want to give it a shot?” She held up a her hand and a ball formed, “Or should I?”

The same building, they had to be sure, but confirming it unsettled her. It was the same place Warren was taken, years and years ago before children before they were all married. When it was really just the four of them. The split into teams, easier that way and there were three children to find so they’d find whoever they found first and get them to safety. She wasn’t sure what to expect they packed for the worst medical wise and she hoped they didn’t need any of it. Looking at the large glass building, and then her friend, waiting for the go from the other teams.

“If the layouts the same…there probably in the same room as Warren..”

“All of them? I don’t know if he’d have them all together. His father is twisted. They might even know they have all been taken, that would give them too much hope.” She remembered vividly how the man’s mind tended to work when things like that were handled. “If anyone is in Warren’s room-” Her eyes widened. “Heather...” She shook her head and looked to Jean.

“That will be the first place Warren is taking Scott, I am sure of that much. Let’s go a different direction to be sure we don’t miss any of the kids.”

The last sentence caught her attention more than it should of, but she didn’t comment on it. There were lines, sometimes…they ended up crossed. She wasn’t sure what she do in the situation….so she was going to leave it. “I’ll have my next class covered and get on it right away okay?”

“Thank you, Jean. For everything. Thank you.” She stood to hug her friend tight, and head out with her heart bursting with hope.

“Right now we need to make sure he doesn’t find out were coming, or were getting close at all.” Mostly because he may panic, may move the kids or worse. Warren would be covering cameras, any type of tech…. “Talk to the team, give them information for now, ask for their help but sure they know not to get close.”

“Hmmmm...sending in Kurt or Megan is too risky, to have them poofing around.” She waved her hands about. I’ll have to come up with a game plan. See who I should tell now and who will be useful...” She tapped her fingers on her chin as she thought, and then she smiled at Jean.

“We can do this, Jean. We can save my babies. We can bring them home.” Her voice darkened, “And we can make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

She nodded. “Yeah he’s not a mutant but I’ve been in his mind before…..I should be able to track him down with ease once he’s away from the kids, and then that should also help us find the kids….maybe. Unless he’s proofed all locations, if not. We’ll find what spots he vanishes in.”

“Ah! I didn’t even think about watching for where he vanishes!! that’s genius Jean!” She was getting more excited than worried the more information they got, but he knew if this information streak slowed down, she would start to think of all the horrible things happening to her babies. So she couldn’t stop now. She had to keep up this momentum.

“What else can we do? What can I do?”

Her head snapped up when Tabby came in, she looked, well not better but doing better? Her eyes widened. “I figured he was just done with fighting with Warren over things and let it all go.” She should of thought better but she didn’t know the whole situation really between the Worthingtons. 

“I’m guessing Warren’s already starting his investigation?”

“That’s what we thought too, but we should have known better.” She came to sit in a chair across from Jean’s desk. “Warren’s starting as best he can right now- but maybe you could try and get a lock on his dad? His dad probably won’t be able to detected while he’s where the kids are- but maybe when he is on the news for publicity or something.”

Tabby couldn’t get to Jean’s fast enough. She wanted to tell the woman in person. She rushed into the woman’s office, glad to see it was inbetween classes as she had not even thought to check the time.

“Jean!! We have a lead.” She caught her breathe, walking farther into the room.
