F2F Jean/Tabby - Best of us yet

Tabby was going to say something when Azari’s voice broke through the comms. That was a lot of kids to sneak out with one person, but they had to do it before too many guards took notice. She looked at Jean with a soft smile as she clicked her comm and responded on all the channels.

“Jean will meet up with Spyke to help get them all to the jet safely.” She put a firm hand on her friend’s shoulder.

“Go help him get those kids to safety. I’m going to find my kids. You can meet me back inside. Be safe.”

She nodded, Spyke needed help, she hated to split them up, hated it beyond words but it was the smartest way right now. “I’ll help him out and round back once he’s safely in the jet.” She agreed. Turning out to run back down the way they came and meet Spyke half way. Faster they moved faster they could get back as backup.

Tabby had been practicing to keep from losing her mind once they knew who had taken them but still couldn’t find them. And she had gotten damn good. She rolled the bomb towards them, golf ball sized. All looked down at it, and as she whispered ‘shhhhh’ it exploded in a bright flash but their was absolutely no sound other than the sound of the guys hitting the ground and a chair hitting the wall from the force.

She turned to grin at Jean.

“Shall we”

She raised an eyebrow and shrugged. Well okay, they could learn to do new stuff no one said they couldn’t and it was better than setting off bombs and setting off alarms. “Alright let’s go.” She laughed it wasn’t hard to take down guards that got in their way either. With bombs, or Jean slamming them together or against the walls. They could probably make it through undetected via guards, and Warren covered the cameras. So hopefully they could steal the kids back under the nose of this asshole.

Tabby was walking as quiet as she could, speaking softly to Jean.

“I wonder if the other kids are here…if we find them…what will they say to their parents?” She wondered as they were about to head around a corner when there were guards and Tabby put her hand over Jean keeping her flat against the wall.

“Men.” she peeked around the corner again carefully. “Three of them, armed it looks like, but I can’t tell with what. If there are guards that way, it must be a good place to go lookin’.” “You want to give it a shot?” She held up a her hand and a ball formed, “Or should I?”

She leaned against the wall with the other, she couldn't feel them, meaning they were guarded somehow probably the same way the children were. “Have at them Mom.” She gestured, knowing the other had a lot of pent up emotion she had to keep under control. “I’ll get the next batch.” After this they’d probably trigger something, explosions tended to do that.

“All of them? I don’t know if he’d have them all together. His father is twisted. They might even know they have all been taken, that would give them too much hope.” She remembered vividly how the man’s mind tended to work when things like that were handled. “If anyone is in Warren’s room-” Her eyes widened. “Heather…” She shook her head and looked to Jean.

“That will be the first place Warren is taking Scott, I am sure of that much. Let’s go a different direction to be sure we don’t miss any of the kids.”

They didn’t even know if all of them were here, just one and not even which one. She made a face at the comment about Heather, that...that was fucked up. That poor girl. “We can ask the boys which way there going.” Scott and Warren went ahead, Azari and Spyke following behind and now it was their turn. Staggered out to offer all clears just in case he had a crazy defense set up not all would go at once.

The same building, they had to be sure, but confirming it unsettled her. It was the same place Warren was taken, years and years ago before children before they were all married. When it was really just the four of them. The split into teams, easier that way and there were three children to find so they’d find whoever they found first and get them to safety. She wasn’t sure what to expect they packed for the worst medical wise and she hoped they didn’t need any of it. Looking at the large glass building, and then her friend, waiting for the go from the other teams.

“If the layouts the same...there probably in the same room as Warren..”

Uhhh kids solos? We can do a bit of skip in time so there gone longer than like two days, or imply it’s been a few days overall. 

And then do we want to do F2F’s of them being like R U READY GUIZ? Or just do a rescue in pairs, or Solos??

Ummm Ruready guiz may just be an kind of short filler unless anyones dead set on it? So maybe have F2F pairs for the rescue? And then you can always break off when it comes to rescuing children specifically.

“Hmmmm…sending in Kurt or Megan is too risky, to have them poofing around.” She waved her hands about. I’ll have to come up with a game plan. See who I should tell now and who will be useful…” She tapped her fingers on her chin as she thought, and then she smiled at Jean.

“We can do this, Jean. We can save my babies. We can bring them home.” Her voice darkened, “And we can make sure this doesn’t happen again.”

The last sentence caught her attention more than it should of, but she didn’t comment on it. There were lines, sometimes...they ended up crossed. She wasn’t sure what she do in the situation....so she was going to leave it. “I’ll have my next class covered and get on it right away okay?”

“Ah! I didn’t even think about watching for where he vanishes!! that’s genius Jean!” She was getting more excited than worried the more information they got, but he knew if this information streak slowed down, she would start to think of all the horrible things happening to her babies. So she couldn’t stop now. She had to keep up this momentum.

“What else can we do? What can I do?”

“Right now we need to make sure he doesn’t find out were coming, or were getting close at all.” Mostly because he may panic, may move the kids or worse. Warren would be covering cameras, any type of tech.... “Talk to the team, give them information for now, ask for their help but sure they know not to get close.”

“That’s what we thought too, but we should have known better.” She came to sit in a chair across from Jean’s desk. “Warren’s starting as best he can right now- but maybe you could try and get a lock on his dad? His dad probably won’t be able to detected while he’s where the kids are- but maybe when he is on the news for publicity or something.”

She nodded. “Yeah he’s not a mutant but I’ve been in his mind before.....I should be able to track him down with ease once he’s away from the kids, and then that should also help us find the kids....maybe. Unless he’s proofed all locations, if not. We’ll find what spots he vanishes in.”

Tabby couldn’t get to Jean’s fast enough. She wanted to tell the woman in person. She rushed into the woman’s office, glad to see it was inbetween classes as she had not even thought to check the time.

“Jean!! We have a lead.” She caught her breathe, walking farther into the room.

“It’s Warren’s dad…”

Her head snapped up when Tabby came in, she looked, well not better but doing better? Her eyes widened. “I figured he was just done with fighting with Warren over things and let it all go.” She should of thought better but she didn’t know the whole situation really between the Worthingtons. 

“I’m guessing Warren’s already starting his investigation?”

Oh. 

He’d have to see the other about that, if his Auntie filled him in on why he was here or anything. Maybe they could work together for the same goal, but seeing Jean, he guessed zero results were being pulled up. 

“They have to be somewhere.” He stood up firmly. “10 children are just gone. No one can cover their tracks that well without insane amounts of money and planning. They messed up somewhere.”

“That’s what were hoping, and looking for.” She looked at her phone standing up. “I’ll be in contact if we find anything about your kids Evan, I swear....I need to go down to the labs for my med shift, and to grab my daughter from my husband.” She pushed her bangs from her face. “Your welcome to come with me though.” She didn’t want to cut off conversation if he still wanted to talk about all this. At least until she got Rachel.

Tabby and Warren, he still. Wait Still. “I met one of their kids the other day, Petra. She was playing games in the rec room.” She was a sweet girl, she’d taken off to meet with her boyfriend but she’d had a very friendly conversation with him despite not knowing him at all and him staring. “Our kids were all younger, why….it had to be a target against them. To take their kids. Could it be a copy cat? Someone targeting the family and knowing these other kids were taken?”

“Uh, yeah Petra, Heather and Josh were their kids.....she comes around. Your cousin, Azari, is actually her boyfriend of years now.” She shrugged. “Right now we don’t know anything, at all about if it’s a copy cat, if it’s the same guy, if all these other children were practice for theirs. We don’t know anything at all the same way we don’t know anything about your kids. There all just gone.”

“Three? How does someone kidnap three children at once…” He couldn’t believe it….but the way she was acting. So defeated. “Did you know any of them?” He asked softly, moving carefully to sit down.

“Careful planning...” Meaning. Meaning something that stood out to her. “Someone had been watching them for awhile....you can’t cover tracks for that long.” She mumbled. She’d sent Warren a text shaking her head. “Sorry....Sorry. Um, yeah. We did, I don’t know if you were around for them but Tabby and Warren. They’ve been our friends for ever Scott and I’s. They were in our wedding and we were there for theirs.....our kids are best friends. All three of their children were taken, a little boy and two girls.”

The Morlocks were getting anxious, he’d tried reassuring them that the X-Men were doing everything they could but they wanted to hear it for themselves. Hear everything they’ve tried in person. He’d gone to Jean’s office mainly because besides his Aunt she was the only one he’d formally met with and stopped. She….she looked not okay? He wasn’t very good at telling emotions and seeing them for what they were but she looked like someone who was very tired and very much done.

“I’m sorry.” She mumbled looking up at him. “Sorry Evan it’s a bit of a bad time.” She breathed out shaking her head. “If your here about the kids....We’ve got nothing. I’m so sorry we’ve tried everything and....whoever it was just took three more.....we.....I don’t know.” She shook her head how could someone take 10 children and vanish? 10 mutant children.
