feel weird about ppl who aren't intersex making posts about our inclusion or exclusion from the LGBT community so here's my hot take!
1) in MANY cultures outside of the west, there are intersex exclusive cultural genders. terms like cis, trans, and nonbinary do not apply to these genders because those terms originated in the western binary.
2) people who are intersex specific cultural genders should have access to lgbt resources in the us without having to subscribe to the western terms listed above. they should be allowed to decide for themselves whether or not they want to be included in the community.
3) there's a long extensive shared history between lgbt (trans, in particular) and intersex activism due to overlapping oppression. examples of this are being put into men's prisons, not being allowed to participate in sports, forced sterilization, and forced medical procedures to be allowed to exist as themselves, etc. it's really easy to find more evidence of the shared history between our communities' activism.
4) stop speaking over intersex people, ESPECIALLY intersex people of color who aren't from Western cultures! don't bring us up as discourse points. let us decide for ourselves on an individual basis whether we want to be included or not.
5) that being said, don't include the i in lgbt because not all intersex people are lgbt and including the i implies that we are.
6) there's nothing wrong with intersex people having a flag omg flags aren't an lgbt exclusive thing
