@badgopher
Damn dude, you say "you know" a lot.
Also,
The last 45 seconds of the flight is my favorite
The opener couldn't get a flight to Denver, so we got 20 minutes of Brandi Carlile with a guitar instead.
Friday
I didn't get everything done that needed to get done, but that didn't stop me from logging off at noon. Out of office vibes forever.
Riding my bike downhill is still my favorite.
My sister texted me yesterday like 'btw it's gonna to be seventeen-thousand degrees this weekend. bring sunscreen.' This is what I get for leaving my house.
But it will be nice to see the Colorado contingent. It's been too long.
And it will be nice to see a concert at Red Rocks.
And I'm super looking forward to Tuesday when I wake up in my own bed and have absolutely fuck all to do for an entire day.
I should probably get to the airport.
I really want a salad, but I'm getting on an airplane in a couple days, and every time I open the fridge to ponder a salad I think about the Reddit comment I read the other day where someone asked about the difference between 'diarrhea' and 'explosive diarrhea' the top reply was "consent."
Turns out it's Tuesday and not Monday, which would usually be an amazing revelation, but I've been a wee bit stressy about all the stuff I need to get done this week and now, it turns out, I have one less day to do it 😢
I don't know man, live a life where people don't celebrate your death. It's really easy to do.
The giant billboard exiting the Oakland airport: “You are entering California, which protects abortion rights.”
$8.50 to cross a bridge. A short one. We don’t have this nonsense where I come from.
“Nice shirt. Where’d you get it?” He thought it was an Adventure Time tee.
The way the woman working the merch table deflated when I asked about the lemon t-shirt. “This is the last one and it’s a 2XL.” “Okay, I’ll take it.” “Really??” Then under her breath “thank you.”
The dearth of coffee options on a Sunday morning in whatever part of Oakland that EV charging station was in.
95 minutes to fill half a battery. A dead dinosaur would never.
“Just so you know, this plane has not been catered for the last 3 flights. We will be serving drinks and snacks until we run out. Please keep in mind this is not Joseph’s or my fault. Alaska Airlines would love to hear your feedback.” lol
Friday the 10th doesn't have the same ring to it
That "y'all, what??" email I sent last week got me a kind note and a gift card from my management team, and it was a nice gesture, but it's not quite the 'information and a plan' I was hoping for. I get it.
I got stuck in a car wash. Luckily it was after the wash and rinse bit. My car isn't designed for bouldering over the roller thingies that aren't meant to be driven over.
I can manage a 3-mile walk a few times a week these days, which is nice. A month ago I'd regret more than a half-mile.
So grateful that past James booked a midday flight tomorrow and a midday return on Sunday. Maren Morris tomorrow night in Napa!
I'm enjoying this week's book. I picked it out at random (along with the next 3 books in the pile). At least as random as the recommendation algorithm will allow.
Remember when everything was the algorithm's fault? Take me back to those halcyon days.
I remain tired.
Bold of my employer to institute an anti-bribery and corruption policy in this climate.
tonight’s sunset was 1 minute earlier than last night’s sunset 😢
Sometimes decorum is starting the email to the managers and VP on this project with "y'all, what???" instead of "what the fuck, you guys???".
Friday (observed)
I'm not super thrilled about the current state of my country, but I get a paid day off for its birthday party, so there's that. This year it's a Friday. My plans include: sleep.
I am so tired.
I've lost count of the number of times this week I've asked some version of "am I supposed to know what you're talking about right now?" It's been a lot. A lot a lot.
I got a new bike. It's really nice.
Everyone is getting minimum viable James today. It’s not ideal, but here we are.
too real
Me, opening my banking app: oh, yikes.
Also me:
