"Oh? This is merch of your band? I like it! Let me see if it fits!" Without the slightest bit of hesitation, Yoichi removes his shirt right in front of Eli, draping it over his chair. ( Wowie. Naked torso! Abs! Pecs! ) He takes a moment to check if he's got the right side of the 99 angels shirt in his hands before putting it on. "Well? Does it look good on me?"
โ Eli suddently forgets how to speak, forgets every word he's ever learned, and just stares for a few seconds. Yoichi not only wants to wear their merch, but is willing to do it right here and there.
"It's the second biggest size we have so it's still, um... loose-fitting on taller...." He can't help but stare some more, his red face entirely giving away his inner thoughts.
"It looks really hot. I mean it's good. You look good. It's great." A pause to mentally berate himself for being the world's biggest loser. "You like it? It's yours. On the house." If he gave away merch for free to any and all hot people they meet, they'd definitely go broke in just a month. But just this once, it's fine. Maybe.
He's gotta tell the band about this.
"I am not giving anything back. You snooze, you lose."
โ "You're a funny one, Mr. Leblanc - as a fellow confidence man, you intrigue me. Say, would a bet interest you? I bet I could get all my things back in just a week. If I lose, I'll hand you over, let's say... 500,000 dollars. If I win, you gotta come work for me." He already has a plan cooking up in his head of his - all well hidden by the sly smile he likes to wear.
"Are you in, or are you scared of losing?"
โ "They don't even ID me at the liquor store anymore, because they see the light has left my eyes."

"Whoooa! These pills smell kinda yummy! Are they supposed to be like, easier to swallow? I wouldn't mind taking meds if they smelled kinda good." It seemed like such a smart idea! Why didn't the people that made all the medicine do this already?
โ "A travesty, that flavored or scented medicine is not a common practice. There are multiple reasons why it cannot be done." As a grown child who learned the lesson the hard way, he too, knows the risk of good-tasting pills.
"In this case, my dear, you must be exceptionally careful! There is a chemical that smells like almonds, but about 30% of the population lack the ability to detect it! Tasteless, odorless, and kills quickly. That, my dear, is cyanide."
โ "Do my a favor, dear fellow... smell this bottle for me." He hands over a plastic bottle of painkillers. Strangely, smells faintly of almonds. "Pray tell, what do you notice, if anything at all?"

"I was gonna say, you're a lot shorter than I remember," Yoichi snorts, "Did you shrink somewhere these past several years?" A playful jest accompanied by sticking out his tongue. He's clearly become more expressive than he used to be, even becoming a bit of a menace along the way. And it seems Genji has changed a bit too. Oh, he looks forward to hearing all about what the guy has been up to.
"Haha! I know just the place! They even have a spicy ramen challenge. We gotta give it a go!" And he starts walking in the exact direction of the restaurant he has in mind. "How long are you thinking about staying in Japan?"
โ "Haha, well, maybe you've just gotten taller! Not so 'little' ninja anymore, are you?"
Spicy noodles definitely have his attention! He gladly follows Yoichi as they continue their conversation.
"You grew up, and you seem much more relaxed. I'm happy for you!" How long has it really been? Must be at least ten years now... if not more. His time at the Nagumo household feels like a blur. Even if he got to put his skills to use, take his anger out on his targets, days melted into eachother, phantom pains, sleepless nights keeping him up for days at a time. No job was ever too hard, giving him time and opportunity to relax and unwind. To think about his choices. To miss his family. Hanzo, Kiriko, Yoichi.
"I don't know how long I'm staying yet. Depends on the outcome of my upcoming battle. Though, once all is said and done, it will be nice to revisit old stomping grounds." Even just walking down familiar streets is like a breath of fresh air on a sunny day.
"Where are you right now? Work wise. JAA?"
Yoichi readjusts his backpack, having just checked in his suitcase. His parents have already returned to their car. To them, this is just a normal drop-off. They've done all they could to prepare their kid for jcc, and now it's gonna be his turn to prove himself. At least he already succeeded with his entrance exam. He looks up at Genji, the guy he's been bugging like a little duckling for the past 3 ( almost 4 ) years. "Well, I'm gonna head off and become the coolest spy you've ever seen," all said in that same monotone voice. "You will be blown away."
โ Genji almost has the urge to follow him. He knows he can't, and shouldn't. Yoichi has proven himself to be extremely skilled, but Genji can't help but worry about him time and time again. Is this how Hanzo felt when he saw his younger brother spend his time in bars, clubs, in arcades? A different kind of dangerous life, but perhaps just as dangerous. They might never know what will end up happening to the people they love if they continue walking down their paths. Whether it is something they chose, or it was chosen for them.
Genji wonders, if just for one moment, that maybe his stories of the JCC, being a ninja assassin has put a certain idea of this kind of life in the kid's head. His chest aches, as he watches Yoichi prepares to leave, possibly to never be seen again. His eyes sting, but the tears don't come.
"Be good, yes? Don't get into too much trouble." Perhaps there's a hint of a smile in his voice coming from behind the mask. It is perhaps barely visible in the squint of his eyes. "I have no doubt you will become the best of the best."
"Goodbye, little ninja."

It's almost midnight as a young boy, who is supposed to be asleep, sneaks into Genji's room and climbs onto his bed. "You gotta tell me more stories about the jcc or other ninja stuff." While his barely expressive face doesn't really show it, he's excited at the thought of hearing more. And he gotta hear more right now! He will, however, end up falling asleep halfway through the story.
โ Genji wakes up easily, just by hearing the door to his room open. Not that he was fast asleep, the constant pain he's in tends to keep him up every night. Not that he ever really minded the young boy's company. Genji felt a strange sort of kinship with him. Perhaps it is the fact that they're both unfortunate victims of this cruel world.
"And just why aren't you asleep?" His low, grumbled voice softens up quickly, however. Yoichi seems excited to learn about his story and what he's been through. Can't fault him. Being a ninja sounds pretty cool from the outside... he keeps hoping Youchi won't end up in his shoes later down the line. "Ugh, sure, why not. Have I told you about the time... my teammates and I messed up an assassination? Our target died, but we drew too much attention to ourselves. We arrived in Italy in the dead of night... it should have been simple, but the enemy was expecting us. Soldiers and guards were everywhere."
Genji recounts the mission clear as day. It was just last year, but it feels like it was yesterday. By the time the story is over, Yoichi seems to have fallen asleep without Genji realizing. Once he does, he carefully shuffles out of the way to share some of his blanket's length with the young boy.
"Sleep well," he whispers, and then closes his eyes, and allows himself some more rest for the night.
