Europeans coming to Georgia and making "jokes" about Georgian women's ethnic name (Nazi, pronounced like nah - zee, z in zebra) will never be funny. especially now that our ethnic names are disappearing. our ethnic names are constantly mocked, called old-fashioned, ancient and other nasty things. you're just making people more insecure about their ethnic names. Nazi means "gentle" and it's a very pretty name but our people are starting to hate it (mainly the new generation) because European names are considered "prettier, modern, unique and better" unlike Georgian names that are considered "primitive and ugly hag names." the amount of times people get told that their parents hate them for naming them ethnic names and they'd kill themselves if they had ethnic names is very saddening and heartbreaking. I chose ethnic name for myself and people don't even know that it's a Georgian name because our ethnic names are literally disappearing.
may I add that our ethnic names are considered prettier if Europeans use them? the amount of times we've been told that our ethnic names are hard to pronounce, if our language and script are real, "how do you read them and pronounce them?" is upsetting. there are Europeans who go to reddit and other social media and ask us to give them ethnic Georgian names (or choose Georgian ethnic names for their children), and suddenly our ethnic names look and sound good on them. but if Georgians have those names we need to "kill ourselves" because it means our parents "hated us." @baghre was literally told that her ethnic name is "impossible to pronounce" and it's "weird" written in "unreadable language" but the same person then decided to use the name for themself and they blocked Baghre saying "your name doesn't belong to you. you're radical like far right conservatives. culture is meant to be shared"
