Princess morning routine

♡ brewing a cup of tea to help settle you into the morning, rosebud tea, chamomile, green tea, jasmine etc. Choosing your favourite tea cup to pour it in and save the rest for the afternoon.

♡ having a morning skincare routine! brands to browse: Philosophy, Fresh, Herbivore, Mario Badescu, Glossier, Clinique, Benefit etc.

♡ always freshen up in the powder room; if you desire, wash your hair with floral scented shampoo and conditioner. Leaving your hair silky and fresh. Or just take a nice relaxing shower to wake you up; using a moisturising body butter (brands like soap and glory, lush, the body shop etc)

♡ breakfast ideas; an abundance of freshly picked fruit from your own garden, warm toast with either jam or honey, cinnamon rolls, crepes with chocolate sauce and strawberries, oatmeal with banana and blueberries, fluffy pancakes with syrup, vegan smoothie bowls, breakfast muffins with warm coffee…

♡ listening to some music during your routine; @la-petitefille has some very dreamy playlists on her Spotify (here)

♡ take a walk outside in your garden (if you have one) pick some flowers to put in a vase, tend to the plants, do a yoga routine, read some poetry or a book, sit outside and listen to the birds chirping with the morning sun on your face

♡ optional! If you wear makeup, sit at your vanity and begin your routine. An idea for an everyday look…

~ apply a sheer to medium coverage foundation or B.B. cream, keeping things more natural and allowing the luminosity of your morning skin care routine to shine through

~ if you need more coverage, apply concealer strategically on areas you need but also under your eyes

~ brush through your brows with a tinted gel

~ apply some rosy coloured blush on the apples of your cheeks (cream or powder, depending if you decide to set your face)

~ add some glow with a highlighter on the high points of your face

~ apply a coat of mascara (black or brown)

~ finish with a lipstick or gloss!

How do you fall back in love with life?

clean your room.  clean space, uncluttered space, space that doesn’t have miasma clinging to it can work wonders.  clean the dishes.  sweep.  take out the trash.  peel the clothes off the floor and wash them, and then actually fold/hang them.  take a long shower.  scrub behind your knees.  brush your teeth.  (this can be utterly exhausting, but try to get it done in a day, if you can.  the end result is worth it.)

pull out your notebook.  it doesn’t need to be a new notebook, but preferably one that you don’t usually write in, or that you haven’t touched in a while.  fuck moleskins.  the yellow legal pad will work fine.  sit in your room, or in the park, or in the library, and write a list.  count clouds.  describe all the colors that you see, and note patterns that arise.  sketch the cracks in the walls.  note the shape light makes when it enters a space.  talk about what the air tastes like, smells like.  what sounds are there?  even the white nose, break that down: air planes, fans, cicadas, anything.  remind yourself that you are sitting in the middle of a space brimming with detail.  remind yourself that you are not in nothingness and emptiness.  your world is fathomless.  it has potential.

drink cold water and try to eat something that isn’t processed.  it does not need to be fancy.  buy yourself an apple with the change between your couch cushions.  eat it outside.  if you’re someone who walks, walk somewhere afterwards, just to stretch your legs.  take your fucking meds.  remember that its a good thing that you are inside your body.  your body is a fantastic and endlessly intricate machine, and even though society has smacked a bunch of poisonous ideas on it, that doesn’t change its inherent worth and splendor.  take care of it.

read a novel.  underline your favorite lines, and write phrases that twist your heart inside your chest on the back of your hand with an ink pen.  read a novel like it’s poetry.  read poetry, something decadent but unpretentious.  watch a movie you haven’t seen before.  if there are free art galleries near you, walk through one.  take your time.  let yourself bask.  if there are patterns in what makes your soul ache, write those patterns down – marbles arches or soot crumbling bricks or dandelions or descriptions of dresses or whatever it is, write them down.

your chosen family is important.  remember, they picked you as much as you picked them.  the love has no obligation.  it is given freely and it is given from a place of compassion.  you are not a burden.  if you need to breathe, take a minute by yourself and just exist, but remember to go back to your people.  when they need you, listen and be gracious.  always be gracious.  the universe sometimes remembers things like that.

listen to new music.  link jump on youtube or related artist jump on spotify or ask the chap beside you in the cafe what their favorite band is, and listen to that.  listen to something that you don’t usually listen to.  we tend to tie up a lot of memory with music.  we are falling in love again.  the soundtrack needs to be specific to that.  

allow yourself to indulge in romantics.  press flowers in old books.  play movies with subtitles and mouth the words.  dance in your room.  wear something that makes you feel good, even if you wouldn’t wear it in public.  write your chosen family letters, even if you hand deliver them.  write poetry, even awful poetry.  revel in its awfulness.  eat dark chocolate and when your chosen family want to go out, try to go out with them sometimes, even if its just to the market.

Some tasks/routines I should start using!

Princess nighttime routine

♡ proceeding with your nighttime skincare routine, making sure to wash off your makeup (if you wear it) leaving your skin fresh and clean without any residue. After, you can opt for a face mask if you want to pamper yourself some more.

♡ run yourself a relaxing bath. Add either a bath bomb or some salts and flowers. Light a scented candle and maybe catch up on some YouTube videos or a movie/tv show for some entertainment.

♡ if you need to relax further do some meditation. Relaxing your muscles and calming your mind.

♡ put some comfy pyjamas on, it is so much easier to sleep when your all snuggly and warm. Or alternatively if its summer, wear a elegant silk nightgown.

♡ make yourself some herbal tea for a goodnight’s rest, once it’s finished brewing you can take it up to your bedroom whilst reading a book in bed or writing in your journal.

♡ apply some hand lotion and lip balm to hydrate your skin throughout the night.

♡ just before you hop into bed/drift to sleep, look out your window and up at the night sky, appreciating the glow of the moonlight.

Since we all are a little bit homebound right now, I found myself to get bored like crazy, which is why I put together a list of things you can do to entertain yourself!

Have a long dinner with your family - especially if you normally don’t see them that often, it’s great for both parties to know what is happening in your or their life

Help your family with the household if you’re home all day and they still need to go to work. They are stressed as well, and even by doing small things like laundry or vacuuming you help them a lot!

Call further relatives - they will be happy to hear you’re alright and even happier to know that you think of them

Meet up at home with a few close friends, if you want to (but limit it to 3 to 4 and make sure they’re well!)

Read the book with the 1,000 pages you always wanted to finish

Watch a new series without a bad conscience (I want to watch the new episodes of Élite, but also give The Witcher and Marvelous Mrs Maisel a try)

Rediscover old (video) games; this can be chess or other board games, but also Sims or Animal Crossing

Have a spa day - make your nails, have a bubble bath with a bath bomb from Lush you have owned for so long but never had the time to use it, have a face and hair mask

Study from home if your uni got closed or postponed, gather the material and watch the videos if your uni provides them!

Do some online courses (LinkedIn Learning offers quite good ones)

Read the newspaper or watch the news to keep up with information

Listen to and discover new music and create playlists

Find out about possible jobs or internships you can apply to now that you have the time for it, and don’t forget to update your CV!

Bake delicious chocolate chip cookies, in most of the cases you have everything you need at home already

Go online shopping or make a list with things you want to buy

Read about anything you always wanted to learn more about or watch documentaries

Make plans for the future - your dream vacation, job, house, whatever!

Keep up with sports by watching workout or dance videos, or go for a run in the park since all sports classes got cancelled as well

Things will get better! Keep calm and positive and stay safe! 💮
