Jack’s eyes found the orange armchair in the corner, near the window, exactly the way you had left it twenty years ago.
The same chair where you held each other after getting married.
The same one where you watched your belly grow—three times—with your daughters: Sienna, Ophelia, and Juliet.
The same chair where you told them about your diagnosis.
The same chair where you slowly faded, trying so hard to remain strong, serene.
Now it sat empty.

Jack’s folder still sat untouched beside the bed.
He couldn’t open it—not without feeling like his world would collapse all over again.

And then Juliet again—laughing, painting, alive.
