What makes them break - Part 2:
warnings: unresolved angst and heartbreak, implied death.
part one.
Ushijima: When you tell him if you're gone, you're gone for good. That you're not his pretty little toy to show off, how you're no longer going to come at his beck and call. He doesn't say anything as you leave, thinking you might, just might come back. You don't, and he regrets not stopping you every day of his life.
Osamu: When you don't come down for breakfast like you usually do. His onigiri always wakes you up, if he doesn't get to you first. Is his food not good anymore? Are you not hungry? No, no, it's none of that. You're just not there.
Hinata: The moment he realizes he has to tell his little sister you're gone. That there's no more you, the person she's idolized as long as you two were together. That if you don't love him, you probably don't love her either.
Hoshiumi: The millionth time his mind flashes to you after a spike. God, how he wishes he could see your smile, your awestruck eyes just one more time. But he can't, because you're not fucking here anymore. And so he breaks down on the court, on national television, crying and screaming for you to come back.
Daichi: It's the absolute look of fear in your eyes when he shoves your new partner off you in the club. It's the "I'm scared, Daichi," that leaves your mouth in a pathetic whimper. It's the realization you're fucking scared of him, that he's fucked up so bad you don't even trust him not to hurt you. That's what makes him break.
Hirugami: The moment he realizes you want nothing to do with him. He doesn't even realize his dogs are gravitating twords you- they probably miss you just as much as he does. He doesn't realize he's standing in front of you, until he runs right into you. "Hi," he says, a hopeful smile on his face. But your response is so much worse than be could ever imagine. "Please stop bothering me."
Sugawara: When one of his students asks if you're married yet. He still hasn't taken the photo of you off his desk; he can't bring himself to do it. The kids look so excited, and he can't bring himself to tell them you're not together anymore- so he doesn't- still wishing it wasn't true.
Tendou: When he realizes you've been looking at him like everyone else does all along. It hits him all at once, the pain absolutely suffocating. "Why are you looking at me like that?" "Like what, Satori?" The malice is evident in your voice, and he realizes it's identical to the look in your eyes. "Like them."
Kenma: The moment you laugh in his face, telling him he was a waste of your time. He wouldn't usually let it bother him, he shouldn't, but it did. It did, because he knew in his heart of hearts- it was absolutely true.
Kyoutani: When he loses his shit yet again, and his friends don't know who to call. It's not like you'd come to help him- you hate him more than anything else in the world. So he just rages and rages, slowly destroying his friendships too.
