After looking at things I realized I didn’t post anything for 2017. Life and work got too crazy to be honest. This’ll be the first photo dump for the week focusing on progress made on Teutonic Knights Prussia. 

The blue and natural pieces were sewn together to make an arming doublet. It is made of linen, cotton batting, and linen thread for the eyelets. 

The flag is based on an image from Osprey Publishing on Teutonic Knights. This is one of the sturdiest props I’ll ever make: it is black and white duck canvas pieced together to give the distinct cross shape. It was given a spray down with watered down tan acrylic paint to give age.

Got closer to finishing the chainmail that’ll soon go on my arming doublet yesterday. Today I focused on testing and modifying my hose pattern and transferring the doublet pieces onto pattern cloth for the same treatment. Still need to drop the wool off to get steamed before I can cut the hose out.

Fall has been keeping me busy and away from the sewing machine for the most part, but I squeezed some time in last week to work on Cardverse Prussia. Here’s the muslin for his jacket which was made from a slightly modified Burda pattern. I’ll have this one done for ChibiChibiCon in February.

These still need to be stuffed and airbrushed, but I’m happy with the basic shapes now. The red one is for Cardverse while the pink and black one will go with my Halloween 2010 cosplay. 

Both tails had significant design problems that were remedied by editing the pattern and remaking them. Initially the 2010 tail had no taper between the base and tip so it looked extremely fake and bulky. After turning the red tail the triangle tip was swallowed up by the fur, but now it’s much bigger and stands out like it should.

Now that I’m done with Ren Faire sewing for this year I’m working on cosplay for Kumoricon again. Today the furs for Halloween 2010 and Cardverse Prussia’s tails were patterned and cut. Both tails are going to be airbrushed for more depth and the pink tail will have a portion of black fur at the base to prevent paint rub off onto the pants.

Getting ready for the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire by making a crap ton of accessories and helping with the outfits that go with them. My family is dressing up as various characters from Disney’s Robin Hood. @thecorgay is going to be the Maid Marian to my Robin Hood! 

These are the first fur items I’ve sewn on a machine without needing to switch to hand sewing. Feels good.

Girls’ Day Shoot

Getting jazzed for a photoshoot tomorrow. A long time friend and awesome photographer @kirin-photography and I are meeting up at Seattle’s Dragon Fest tomorrow for a Girls’ Day Prussia shoot! It’ll be a great place for festival pictures and so many yummy food options too!

The skirt is finished now~ Teutonic Knight Prussia (With armor!) Is going to be the most intensive cosplay on my list so far.

Been weaving a chainmail skirt for next year’s Teutonic Knight Prussia. It’s made of thousands of 16 gauge 5/16″ stainless steel rings in a European 4-in-1 weave. It needs to be lengthened a bit, but that’s almost done.  Once the skirt is done I’ll continue with Halloween 2010 Prussia seeing how that’s for Kumoricon.

A quick outfit test for Girls’ Day/Festival Prussia. I have a shirt that needs to be dyed purple for this but otherwise it’s done. The accessories are drying with their last layer of gesso before panting.

Today was prop day! Kind of like leg day, but with a lot more moving parts. The cotton candy reminded me why I didn’t use a glue gun for so many years. I forget the bloody stuff stays hot for so long and I freaking burn myself a lot.  The blue blob at the bottom is the current state of the happi! It still needs to be hemmed and to get a collar, but I like it so far. Two weeks until BA-CON 2016 and things are looking good.

Been slowly (Distractedly) working on this for Girls’ Day Prussia which will be debuted at BA-CON in May. The accessories have been a lot of fun so far, but I need to get some more supplies before continuing on that front. Aside from a couple of frustrations with the happi it has been coming along well and should be plenty comfortable for warm weather wearing. 

The bottom picture shows my first attempt at weaving chainmail with aluminium rings and a 4-in-1 weave. I have an order with two differently sized jump rings on its way from Canada to see which one will work best for the mail skirt my armored Teutonic Knight cosplay will have.
