Iron Lung is so smart with how it sets up the mechanics of the sub. I keep thinking about how when there's no light, Simon keeps using the camera to light up the sub for just a few seconds, and how not only does that light not last very long and the threat of absolute darkness is always looming, but every time he does it takes another picture and shows you another view of what's outside. Every time he gives himself a little more light, I kept looking at that screen to see if anything had changed. There's a dread in him having such limited light, but there's an equal dread in him taking pictures so frequently because what will they reveal.

It's made better by the fact that SIMON is smart too. He doesn't get himself into bad situations because he makes dumb decisions like the classic slasher victim, but his ingenuity still doesn't save him. He can't outsmart his way out of whatever's out there. That's good cosmic horror, and it feels all the more scary because we KNOW that Simon is smart and watch him solve so many problems in creative ways.

Especially with the knowledge that the camera was irradiating him, it adds to the feeling of the lack of…anything, really. You keep expecting to see things change over time, like, maybe a different image on the camera, but there’s nothing. You don’t know what will change, and that’s the horror of it. You question when things will change, if things will even change. It’s the true definition of suspense.

Bubble Killed Caine

And Bubble was originally the second AI meant to replace Caine

Throughout Kinger's hacking attempt, we see Caine's subconscious responding to his efforts, however there's a second voice mixed in there as well. One screaming things like "DELETE THIS MOTHER****** WHAAAAAAAAA!"

There's only one AI that talks like that.

Kinger tries NOT to delete Caine. It prompts him multiple times and he says no. Then something messes with the prompt and tricks him into answering "yes."

Considering how antagonistic Bubble was becoming to Caine, how the whole start of the episode where we see Caine subsume a more stable AI, and it's been made clear Caine and Bubble are linked (they share a tongue), it seems likely that Bubble was a manifestation of that second AI Caine killed.

He didn't want Caine dead, he was trying to reprogram him so that he could still live.

He was trying to help Caine.

He was still trying to help Caine even after everything Caine put all of the circus members through.

Kinger cared about him on some level.

The worst thing you can do is make someone feel like they're not wanted or loved.

1: The circus members are brain scans, this folder might be the abstracted members. CA_NeuralScans (Obsolete)

2: 'Abel' did exist, and the circles at the beginning of the episode were most likely Caine killing 'Abel'.

3: The circus was created on October 30th, 1996. Kinger's password is Queenie, and this confirms again that Kinger was his username.

4: Ragatha entered the circus on October 15th 2008, Scratch entered the same day but in 1999, and Caine in 1996. Interestingly enough, he is written in LISP, which has links to AutoCAD the modeling software.

5: Not much to actually say here, Caine's internals are protected by both him and bubble.

6: Assuming the GreenGrounds is the circus, Kinger was likely trying to inject the torment program (what the circus members are being tortured with??) with a daemon (automated process) in order to stop it.
