the fact that grace and simon would canonically be disabled4disabled is so important to me actually.

simon rubbing lotion into grace’s burn scars. grace walking simon through mirror therapy. the two of them doing a daily exercise regimen together to keep their joints healthy in erid’s gravity, helping each other with tough stretches and pausing for kisses. one of them having a bad pain day where they can’t get out of bed and the other tending to them with a smile. the thousand little gestures of love and care throughout the day — drawing a warm bath, bringing a favored drink and a handful of medications, massaging a knot out of a muscle, commiserating about the bad moments and celebrating the good ones.

why is it. that we as a community treat simon and grace so differently when it comes to how their drawn and written

Why is simon so insanely muscular and dominating and ryland is a twig and submissive. These are the same fucking image, no? do we not have eyes?

these are two muscular men. we know that ryland is muscular book or movie because they go out of their way to SHOW US that he is!

we are assigning dynamics based on appearancessssss.

Because that's how the COI treats him. Scary, threatening, very dark and broody.

And wouldn't it be way more romantic for Simon to instead of being portrayed as strong and dangerous to feel comfortable enough to be truly vulnerable and submissive to another person.

GIVE HIM A PRAISE KINK! LET HIM LIKE BOTTOMING! LET HIM BE CHERISHED AND BE GIVEN THINGS INSTEAD OF CONSTANTLY GIVING AND GIVING!

And forgive me but maybe is it a little weird that the less *traditionally masculine* one that wears knitwear and is a bit nerdy is immediately treated as submissive and weak?

Also why would ryland *the man who traumatically got pinned down and had his autonomy ripped away* like feeling powerless during sex?

I'm not saying that you can't draw or write top simon and bottom grace, and I'm not trying to attack anyone's opinions or police anyone. But I do want to offer a different perspective because I have noticed a trend I find a little annoying.
