6 Relaxing Yoga Poses To Help You Fall Asleep
Day 10 Power Yoga Challenge
Back at it! Went to a 75 minute morning session today and it was nice to finally be back in the room! Having that time to myself was much needed. It's difficult to take that time when I feel really stressed or have a lot on my mind - but that's when I really NEED to take some me time. I'll be back in the studio tomorrow for day 11!
TW: BODY TALK
Hullo. This is me. This is my body. This is me thankin my body for being so awesome.
So our bodies have this great thing called a stomach. And our stomachs have this awesome ability to stretch and expand as it fills with food and fluids! Every time you eat or drink something your stomach expands to accommodate what you’re consuming the way a balloon expands to accommodate the air that it’s being filled with.
Sometimes, you may eat more at a meal or in an entire day than you normally would. Whether it’s celebration, a party, or just a good hang out with people you love, delicious food is consumed. And your stomach does that cool thing- it expands to accommodate the scrumptious food and drink! For a lot of us, it’s alarming and scary and often a huge trigger. You may feel the urge to do harmful things to your body to get rid of what’s making your abdominal region look like that. But I want to ask you to please not harm yourself. Instead, remember the simple explanation I gave you: your stomach is expanding to accommodate the food, fluid, and air. It is not gaining weight. It is not gaining fat. It is not doing anything of that nature. Take a deep breath. Wear something comfortable and cozy. Make some tea or warm water and watch some TV, read a book, or take a nap. And thank your body for having the amazing capacity to process and digest foods that are both soul enriching and body fueling.
I love you so much ❤️
yess this is so important!

Resting Days
So the past few days I have put a pause on my yoga challenge because I felt like my body needed a rest from the everyday intensity of the sessions. At first, I felt bad about myself. Like a failure. I didn't even really want to post anything about it because I felt like I would disappoint the universe. But, I decided to take the break for exactly this reason... Relying too much on anything, even if it's healthy for my body, for my positive sense of self is dangerous. When it's gone, as all things end, I still want to feel good about myself. Crying and stressing out that all my progress will reverse if I don't go to one session is not a positive or healthy way of thinking. I need to feel strong and happy with myself at the end of the day. So, I will be continuing the challenge tomorrow or on Monday - whenever I can get back to the studio (it's also been quite busy). In the meantime, positive vibes and confident intentions!
Day 9 Power Yoga Challenge
Okay so I forgot to post but yesterday was hardcore difficult. My weakest areas are definitely my hip and knees (makes sense because I’m missing some cartilage) and that’s exactly what we worked on.
It was brutal. And, the instructor also had us try some inversions which were nearly impossible for me.
I did something stupid and weighed myself for the first time in about a week...noticed that I haven’t lost more than like a pound or two. But, I have been measuring my waist/hips/chest and I am noticing some differences.
Try to love yourself as much as you want someone else to.

Yogi or Nah?
Today I caught myself wondering if I'm yogi enough for this blog. Like, I don't really know what I believe in as far as religion and spirituality. I'm not very peaceful...75% of the time I'm wicked stressed and super emotional. Hell yeah I like pizza and pink wine and dessert. No, I'm not a vegetarian but I don't like wasting life for nothing you know? I just LOVE food, okay? I watch A LOT of netflix, usually after playing with one of my three cats. And I'm addicted to coffee. I'm actually kinda a sarcastic girl and I really have NO clue how or what to define myself as. Sometimes I feel lonely and friendless. Sometimes I feel like I'm the coolest person ever. Sometimes I feel ugly and grotesque but others I feel like a freakin beam of sunshine. Yeah I'm moody! Yeah I'm indecisive! So I may not be the most zen or devoted traditional yogi but yoga provides me with a mindfulness and gratefulness for my own being. It helps me acknowledge my shortcomings and find peace with my many contradictions. I don't feel the need to define myself by symbols or icons or idols. I am full of life and confused by it all, all of the time. Does that make me a yogi? Does it not? I don't really know...but what I do know that yoga helps me have a sense of self greater than my own ego. And that's all that matters to me.
