If you have a thought, question, or rant about Baldur's Gate that you would prefer to voice anonymously, then this is the place for you!

While this is not strictly a "critical" blog, asks criticizing and critiquing the game itself, Larian Studios, or individual characters and ships are allowed. Any asks that are expressly critical of ships, characters, etc., will be tagged as such to keep hate out of the main tags. As the name implies, only anon asks are posted.

The Rules:

1. Don't target specific people in the fan community. Keep identifying information related to non-public figures out of asks.

2. Don't ask anything blatantly bigoted. No slurs, no misgendering, etc.

3. Don't use threatening or violent language towards me or anyone else.

4. Be civil. No personal attacks, name-calling, unfounded accusations, or baseless speculation about people's personal lives.

5. Criticism =/= character bashing.

6. Limit asks to 2-4 paragraphs max.

The mods reserve the right to step in when necessary to correct misinformation or stop discourse from turning into fights.

Call me naive but I thought it was a good place to discuss controversial (in the widest sense) opinions without having a name-tag attached to it, and I thought we had some very interesting discussions here. Gale-week a few weeks back was great.

Of course sharing a spot of love for the companions is nice too. 💞

For what it's worth, I used to love the drama on here because it felt lighthearted and sort of funny. At the end of the day we're all fans of the game and have different perspectives, I saw it as sort of mock fighting. But ever since the first hiatus I also feel like the tone has changed and the drama no longer feels lighthearted. Like you said, it feels like people are stirring shit for the lols. There's this tendency to take things way too personally that sure, existed before and got us a few forbidden elf bans but now it feels like every conversation is like this

We were hoping that things would go back to how they were last year, but the "community", as it were, is so commited to the idea that having normal conversations on here is impossible that people send us nothing but vitriol. Unless things change, we're going to have shut things down for good because at this place has become one of the worst cesspits of the bg3 fandom.

Honestly though if this was a positive forum then there wouldn't be conversations about toxicity and burnout. We all know what time it is when we traverse these parts. People want their fix of drama and the mods provide.

Comments like this make us honestly question whether anyone is responding in good faith anymore or you're all just going out of your way to stir up shit for the lols.

is it just me or have anons on here started becoming meaner? we had some heavy discourse back in the day too but the past few months it feels like the lightest provocation gets a lot of heat, like people are just waiting to get righteously mad at someone

That's one of the main reasons why we've been slow to answer asks lately

I discovered this blog precisely because it was full of somewhat aggressive asks against certain characters, but then the blog started closing the asks when they became too harsh on a popular character… I think it's a double standard. I liked the time when at least the asks were open and the results didn't matter lol I think that's what an anonymous blog is for, let's not pretend it was made to love the companions and the fans xD

For Christ's sake, are we really going this again? Every single ask that's been submitted in the past two months has been answered with the exception of asks that clearly broke the rules. Every single character and ship has gotten raked over the coals here, including the mods' personal favorites. We've only ever banned topics when the discourse was getting super toxic or they were drowning out all other areas of discussion. All of the mods are getting burned out by the constant drama and negativity, and comments like this aren't helping.

LMAO take a breather buddy, no one forces you to use them. Also they are for VP and 99% for after the events of BG3 (or Alternate Universes) when they do have time to have their romance flourish. Look, I'm not a "girly" of either characters, but aside from a few years ago when there was that AA fan frenzy, which has decreased a lot, the discourse is generally quite calm nowadays. I think you guys are so hyper-reactive to anyone liking anything that isn't strictly what you like, that the slightest mention of an ending you don't like triggers an out-of-nothing attack. It's getting kind of annoying, constantly talking badly about people like that and wanting to kick them out of the environment like that, you know? I might even be called an AA girly or GG girly and get insulted in a future post just for finding this gratuitous way of humiliating others unpleasant.

I feel if you want a "more subdued" G!G you simply opt for the Adventurer!Gale ending or take your wizard to live in Baldur's Gate with you. There's a Gale of every flavour - and each is delicious.
