“Perhaps you have forgotten. That’s one of the great problems of our modern world, you know. Forgetting. The victim never forgets. Ask an Irishman what the English did to him in 1920 and he’ll tell you the day of the month and the time and the name of every man they killed. Ask an Iranian what the English did to him in 1953 and he’ll tell you. His child will tell you. His grandchild will tell you. And when he has one, his great-grandchild will tell you too. But ask an Englishman—” He flung up his hands in mock ignorance. “If he ever knew, he has forgotten. ‘Move on!’ you tell us. ‘Move on! Forget what we’ve done to you. Tomorrow’s another day!’ But it isn’t, Mr. Brue.” He still had Brue’s hand. “Tomorrow was created yesterday, you see. That is the point I was making to you. And by the day before yesterday, too. To ignore history is to ignore the wolf at the door.”

i get that americans love their cultural imperialism, but it really does piss me off that june is “international” pride month just because something happened in the united states.
in aotearoa, june isn’t our pride, it’s theirs. marsha p johnson and sylvia rivera are their historical figures, not ours. the phrase that “you owe your rights to Black trans women” is true there, but here we owe our rights to (mostly) Māori historical figures. i have the freedoms i do because of the legacy of an entirely different set of people operating in an entirely different context at entirely different times.
But because of american cultural imperialism, most queer people in Aotearoa don’t even know our own queer history. Carmen Rupe, Ngahuia Te Awekotuku, the Dorian Society, Gillian Laundon, Georgina Beyer, and the Wolfenden Association are some of our queer history. We should know their names! we should know what they did for us! but because of the power of the american imperial machine, we don’t.
our national pride month should be july, the month that the Homosexual Law Reform Act passed in 1986. our two largest cities hold their pride festivals in february and march, respectively. american queer history has very little (or nothing, depending on who you ask) to do with our queer history. anecdotally, from my own queries, queer youth in aotearoa know more about american queer history than our own.
anyway, happy pride, americans. i’m truly sorry that most of you don’t see the negative impact your nation’s culture has on the rest of the world. and to the rest of the world reading this, try searching for your own country and culture’s queer history, don’t accept the american narratives as your own. we deserve our own histories divorced from the cultural hegemony of the USA.

Very early on in my transition I started noticing that I was getting more targeted ads of the womanly variety, which makes sense: I was doing more searches for women's clothing and cosmetics and so on than ever before. I also did get one ad on Tumblr that was like "girl, how are your ovaries doing" which was funny to be fair.
However, despite my transition not having any effect on the browsing habits of my partner (also a woman) her targeted ads changed. This makes sense: the way targeted ads work they don't just use your browsing history; they can also make suggestions based on where you've been and who you've been with. Of course the algorithm knows that my partner and I spend a lot of time at our dang house but also that we are two different people.
But the funny thing is that despite my partner's browsing habits not having changed at all upon my transition the targeted ads she started receiving were still subtly gendered, but in a very heteronormative way. I was getting ads for cute flowery dresses and makeup: she was getting ads for tools and sports and cars.
It is at the same time very funny, kinda intrusive, very indicative of the current zeitgeist, extremely worrying.
roald dahl was antisemitic and misogynistic. george orwell was openly homophobic. edgar allan poe married his 13 year old cousin. dr seuss cheated on his wife (and was racist as well as antisemitic!). hp lovecraft was racist as fuck. anyways they’re fucking dead it’s not like you’re enabling their behaviors in the afterlife or something. then again I think they bleed into the books so uh keep an eye out for that
the difference between these old white guys and jk rowling is that the former group is all dead. jk rowling is alive and using your money to oppress trans people

listen to me, this is so so important: you've gotta get used to really giving it your 60% as a default. like don't half-ass it necessarily but try not to go over 70% or so of an ass. you'll feel better and live a happier more fulfilled life, and on the rare occasions where you do need to lock the fuck in you'll be able to pull off bullshit that the sad miserable wretches giving it their 100% can never dream off, because they're busy draining themselves dry and you have energy reserves to spare.
This is actually what I was adviced to do at the work rehabilitation program I went to. Hasn't left my mind since. 10/10 solid advice

honestly humanity fell off when it shifted from drawing and sculpting pussies into everything to drawing dicks everywhere. which happened. idk around 12 000 years ago. been on a downslope imo.
so in case you didn't know, paleolithic representations of genitals are, in the vast, vast, VAST majority, of vulvas. prehistoric humans would say "is anyone going to draw a vagina on this rock wall that sort of has folds?" and not wait for an answer. we have so, so many figurines that have a clear, distinct slit between the legs. there are paleolithic drawings of sexual positions and the clearest part in them is always always the pussy. that one also probably has a lesbian couple which is awesome. I'll post it later if I find it again in my book. paleolithic homo sapiens were obsessed with pussy. and we need to learn from their wisdom. draw pussy on everything, it's your heritage.
