So the sneak peak for Ep 7 came out recently and seeing the others all having fun while Jax kinda seems to be isolating himself, all the Jax speculation, AND the fact that we're starting to get to the emotional roller coaster finally got me to do something with my thoughts here. With Jax clearly not OK and isolating himself from the others and trying to look fine while the others walk away with looks of concern and worry. Pomni first, Ragatha and Zooble still looking but ultimately turned away and Gangle not able to look at him (and Kinger somewhat oblivious aside from Ragatha and Pomni.)
I gotta preface this with: I don't really WANT Jax to abstract, nor do I think he DESERVES it. But SOMEONE will abstract. Every media analysis instinct in me says SOMEONE will abstract. They set up this REALLY loaded gun back in the very first episode, I'd be REALLY surprised and disappointed if we get to the end and NO ONE'S abstracted. (I'm not counting Caine because while I do think he IS gonna go AM mode, I don't think he can abstract the way the humans can.) And Jax is both the most likely candidate in terms of both mental state AND since we're heading to the end and things are going to start getting darker and more serious... it does unfortunately make sense for them to get rid of the Funny one. Ontop of that he's about to do "the worst thing" we've ever seen him do and "Only the strongest Jax fans will survive." Abd that these next episodes would devide the fandom. He himself says people aren't pleasant to be around before they abstract, so... it's not looking good for him.
I also have some character analysis visa vis the others for this which I'll put under a cut because this got long but In general...I don't think any of them hate Jax enough they truly want to see him abstract. Hurt, maybe. But even Zooble and Gangle probably wouldn't wish that fate on him. I'm not sure if any of them truly realize the extent of Jax's pain here. I think maybe Pomni and Ragatha may have their suspicions. But while I imagine there'd be mixed emotions...I don't think any of them would TRULY wish abstraction on him.
Pomni's of course probably the one who's gotten closest to him and is probably the most openly worried about him. Despite his efforts, Pomni's too determined and too emotionally intelligent to completely give up Jax as a lost cause. This is the same girl who didn't even want an NPC to feel like they're nothing, and who Kinger told the worst thing you can do is make people feel their unwanted or loved. She WAS deeply hurt by Jax basically saying "I'd forget you if you died." But...I do think she's still worried about him.
Ragatha: Now, this one's complicated and I kinda covered it in a past thing but basically I think Ragatha is also worried about Jax - both from Pomni telling her and perhaps knowing the signs even if she doesn't really want to think of that possibility - but she isn't really sure what to DO about it since he's isolating from everyone and she thinks he hates her for trying to help him. There's of course also probably still feelings from Jax rubbing his friendship with Pomni in her face and...well, him kinda bringing this on himself. Even if she probably wouldn't admit that thought willingly. She doesn't WANT him to give up and die, but nothing she's tried to do to stop it has worked and you ultimately can't help someone unless they WANT it.
Zooble: They're probably the most done with Jax's shit as they're the one who most wants to get back at him of the group. They hate him picking on Gangle all the time and even in Ep 7 they're the one who came up with the Jax-O-Melon. I think of the group aside from maybe Gangle they're perhaps the least aware of how bad things are for Jax RN. But as much hell as he puts them and Gangle through, and as much ad they're willing to give Jax a taste of his own medicine...I don't think they're cruel enough to want Jax to give up and DIE.
Gangle: Now, this one's probably the most complicated of the bunch since she's Jax' main victim here. Heck, she even attempted to torture and brainwash him Clockwork Orange style in the 4th ep. She sees Jax as being a sadist out for revenge, fearing him when he isn't even around. But she's also the one of the gang who may have got closest to breaking down and giving up. As much as Jax torments her and as much as she seems to HATE him...I doubt she'd wish that on him. Even with the relief of no longer having to deal with his bullying and how much she seems to want to get back at him. I don't think Gangle really has it in them to wish that on Jax, especially her being kind of the sensitive one of the group.
Kinger: I kinda threw him in there last minute. He'd probably be the most worried if he were sane since he's been there the longest and seen the signs. Heck, it's possible he even had a hand in making the Circus and might feel responsible for it even in Jax' case. In his usual dementia addled state, I'm not sure he'd be able to tell, particularly with Jax' masking. But I think he'd at least pick up on Ragatha and Pomni's feelings, along with the others.
