In the southern town of Harrowville, Angelina Huffman was a cheerful high school student with an intense obsession with clowns. Standing at 5’7” with long brown hair flowing down her back, she often expressed her love for clowns, bringing her clown accessories—like a red clown nose or a tiny horn—to school now and then. She has friends, but not many — Kyle, Bri, Katie, Blake, and her ex, Drake.
People would laugh at her quirky enthusiasm, but Angelina didn’t care because it made her happy. For Angelina, clowns were a source of joy and happiness, even though her classmates often teased her and gave her the nickname “Angelina the Clown.” Angelina didn’t care about their taunts.
In 2018, clowns were already half-joke, half-nightmare online, and low on circus attendance — creepy sightings, troll memes, the clown emoji everywhere; it's like the world mostly moved on.
Angelina’s best friend in the whole wide world was Serenity Huffman, a 5’3” girl with dark red hair; they are not related. Their friendship was unbreakable, forged through years of shared secrets and adventures.
In one cherished memory from their childhood, when they were 8, Angelina and Serenity sat in Angelina’s backyard, building a fort from blankets.
“This will be our secret castle!” Angelina giggled, pinning a red clown nose on Serenity’s face.
Serenity laughed, “You’re so silly, Angelina! But okay, I’m the clown queen!”
Angelina shows a crayon picture of them both as clowns — her with a big red afro, Serenity with bright green — and Angelina says “while I was at the circus with my daddy, I drew this picture of us as clowns. He loved it. See you are queen with green hair and I have red.” The girls both giggle
Another memory at 12: at the school talent show, Serenity cheered as Angelina did a simple clown routine with a borrowed nose. “You were amazing!” Serenity hugged her after, even though others snickered.
Their friendship was perfect, until Serenity’s mood shifted whenever Angelina talked about clowns. “Angelina, do you have to bring that clown nose again?” Serenity sighed one day at lunch, her dark red hair falling over her face as she frowned.
Angelina beamed, honking the nose. “It makes me happy, Serenity! Clowns are all about fun and laughter. Don’t you think it’s cool?” Serenity shook her head. “It’s embarrassing. Grow up a bit.” But Angelina just laughed it off.
One bright afternoon in 2018, Angelina decided to wear a polka dot clown dress to school, paired with a pink jacket, complete with a clown nose and a smile on her face. As she walked through the courtyard after school, surrounded by students lingering to chat, she was intercepted by Serenity. A small crowd of classmates (including Kyle, Bri, Katie, and a few others) began to gather, sensing drama.
Serenity, with a sharp gaze and her voice shaking from barely contained fear, stared at Angelina with displeasure. “Hey, Angelina,” she said, her tone dripping with mockery and rising panic, “I really don’t understand why you like clowns so much. Every time I see you, I feel disturbed by your clown-like appearance. Don’t you realize that I hate clowns?”
Angelina looked at Serenity in surprise but maintained her smile. “Why do you hate clowns?” she asked gently, tilting her head.
“Clowns are funny and fun. There’s no reason to hate them. I’ve never bothered you either.”
“There’s a reason why Drake broke up with you. You’re being too weird.”
Looking up, grinning, Angelina says “Well, I mean, he didn’t like my love for clowns, it hurt, but I got over it.”
Serenity tried to talk her out of it. “Let it go, Angelina. Enough with the clown stuff. It’s for babies—grow up!” But Angelina shook her head, still smiling. “It makes me happy, Serenity. You’re my best friend; you should understand.”
The crowd murmured, phones starting to come out. Serenity’s face flushed red — her coulrophobia(deep fear of clowns) boiling over in front of everyone. Without another word, she snatched Angelina’s backpack, ripped it open, and dumped everything onto the concrete courtyard: the clown hat, makeup, drawings, and the cherished red round clown nose.
The students gasped and laughed as Serenity raised her foot and angrily stomped on the clowning equipment, grinding the red nose under her sneaker until it cracked and flattened. Pieces scattered; drawings tore under her heel. Phones recorded every second — the humiliation complete in front of the entire lingering after-school crowd.
Angelina stood frozen, tears welling up in her eyes. “Serenity, why are you treating me like this? I’ve never bothered you,” she whispered, her voice trembling. As the tears fell, she cried, “What kind of best friend destroys a friend’s stuff in front of everyone?”
“I hate you,” Angelina spat through her tears, her voice breaking with raw pain and betrayal, the words hanging heavy in the air like a shattered promise as the crowd’s laughter and whispers grew louder.
Serenity just remained silent, saying nothing, as if unaffected by Angelina’s feelings. From the inside, Serenity felt a little down and bad about what she’d done, a flicker of guilt twisting in her gut, but she pushed it aside, refusing to regret her outburst. Without a word, not regretting what she just did, she turned and walked away through the stunned crowd, while the twilight sky began to darken above them.
Angelina, left alone in the courtyard with her ruined belongings, felt utterly broken.
Even though her heart was still hurting from Serenity’s harsh treatment in front of everyone, Angelina decided to continue going home.
Angelina clutched the broken clown nose to her chest, the pieces of her drawings poking out of her backpack. She took a shaky step forward, then another, walking home through the fading light. Annoyed with the hair in her face, she pulls it into a ponytail.
Halfway there, she pulled out her phone, thumbed open the screen, saw Serenity’s name in a text thread, and — with a sob — hurled it into the bushes. It crashed through the leaves and vanished.
She takes a few steps forward, looks up, stops. She glanced at the red-and-white tent rose in the field ahead.
Angelina’s eyes sparkled when she saw the circus tent. An idea suddenly popped into her head, brightening her saddened heart. “I have to go to that circus,” she muttered to herself, clutching her torn backpack. “I need to see a clown show to take away the sadness I’m feeling.”
With a heart full of enthusiasm, Angelina entered the still-empty circus tent. However, instead of being filled with the laughter and chatter of the audience, she found a quiet and silent environment. Curiously, she approached a notice board displayed in the corner of the tent. Her eyes quickly scanned the announcement, “The circus will open its show tomorrow.”
Angelina said, “It turns out the circus isn’t open yet, that’s okay. I’ll go to Clown Alley, maybe there are clowns there. I can’t wait to meet the clowns in this circus.”
With enthusiasm, Angelina decided to go to Clown Alley, hoping to find clowns who would entertain her and maybe teach her the secrets of clown makeup. Although she was initially disappointed not to find any clowns there, her disappointment was soon replaced by her admiration for the beauty and uniqueness of the clown makeup room in Clown Alley.
Angelina then closed the door to Clown Alley. As she entered Clown Alley, her gaze immediately fell upon the neatly arranged rows of clown costumes, colorful balloons floating in the air, and the cosmetics used to create clown faces. Angelina’s eyes sparkled with delight at the sight of all this.
“Wow, I really love this room,” she whispered in awe. However, her admiration was interrupted by the sound of footsteps coming from inside the closed room.
Angelina’s heart pounded as she realized she was not alone in there. With hesitant steps, she decided to investigate the source of the sound.
Carefully, Angelina walked closer to the source of the sound. As Angelina focused her gaze on the entrance to the clown room, she was startled to see a clown deflating his body and then entering through the narrow gap in the door.
Angelina watched in amazement as the clown blew on his cheeks and his body slowly returned to normal. The clown then stood up and with a bright smile, greeted her, “Hello, and welcome to Clown Alley of Circus Aloha! My name is Booble.”
Angelina was still amazed by the clown’s ability. “How did you do that?” she asked, her eyes wide with wonder.
Booble replied with a smile, “I’m a clown, my body is very elastic. I can deflate myself and fit into tight spaces. You can do it too, Angelina, once you become a clown like me.”
“How do you know I want to be a clown?” Angelina asked, feeling surprised. Booble smiled as he explained, “I can feel it, because you have a strong inner clown. Inner clown is a clown seed that humans have, and I can feel that you have had it since childhood. I also know that you like to express your love for clowns every day and bring accessories to school. Your spirit shines with clownish joy!”
Angelina nodded, then sadly she told Booble about Serenity’s treatment of her. “She destroyed my props and called me a loser. It hurt so much,” she added with a sigh.
Booble tried to cheer Angelina up, “Don’t be sad, Angelina. I will help you make your childhood dream of becoming a clown come true. How does that sound?”
Angelina smiled happily, “Thank you, Booble. I can’t wait to be a clown like you.”
Booble tilted his head curiously. “Tell me, Angelina… why do you love clowns so much? What started it all?”
Angelina’s eyes softened, a small, wistful smile crossing her face. “It was my dad. He passed away when I was little, but before he got sick, he used to take me to every circus that came through town. He’d buy me cotton candy, sit me on his shoulders so I could see the clowns better, and tell me they were the happiest people in the world because they made everyone laugh, no matter what. He said clowns turn tears into smiles. After he died, I kept going back to that feeling — the way the circus made everything feel okay again. Clowns remind me of him… of the joy he gave me.”
Booble nodded solemnly, hiding the gentle understanding in his eyes.
“Then let’s honor that, Angelina. Let’s make your dad’s joy live on through you.”
Booble then explained the consequences of transforming into a clown. “When I turn you into a clown, you will become a clown permanently or become a real clown. Nothing can erase your clown appearance, Angelina. You will never be a normal human again, you will be a clown forever.”
However, Angelina was even more pleased with the news. “I’m actually happier to be a permanent clown. I can make my childhood dream come true without having to bother putting on clown makeup every day,” she said enthusiastically.
With the white clown gloves he wore, Booble touched Angelina’s nose.
Something magical happened.
A red dot appeared on Angelina’s nose. Angelina felt a surge of warmth and joy of being a clown flowing through her body. Angelina burst into laughter; she watched in amazement as the red dot on her nose began to spread across the entire surface of her nose.
She heard a squeaking sound “ciiiit”, her nose then enlarged and turned into an adorable bulbous red clown nose.
Angelina felt a pleasant warm and tickling sensation on her face. The clown transformation energy began to change her skin color. Slowly the skin pigment on her face began to fade and then turned chalk white.
Angelina smiled with satisfaction as she watched the change take place. “This is amazing,” she muttered to herself, fascinated by the magic that was happening to her.
Booble watched with a wide smile. “You’re amazing Angelina. Now, let the clown energy flow and transform you into a funny and silly clown. Embrace every moment!”
Slowly, the chalk-white color began to spread all over Angelina’s body, replacing her human skin color. Angelina felt an extraordinary sensation, the clown energy made her feel pleasant euphoria.
Angelina felt a pleasant warm sensation on her mouth. The clown energy began to change her lips. Magically, the lips turned red and her lips moved elastically to the side, forming a wide red clown smile. “Wow, this is amazing!” she exclaimed, looking in the mirror with admiration. “I really look like a clown now!”
She can close her mouth, but the smile’s wide shape is locked—teeth stay hidden unless she chooses to open wide.
Angelina saw her eyebrows change color to blue and move up to form an arch.
Angelina felt an itch on her scalp; she felt the clown energy would change her hair. Slowly, the itching sensation turned into a pleasant sensation. First, her ponytail tie loosened with a soft snap, long brown hair falling free as it began to fade to red, the color spreading evenly before every strand began to move on its own.
Strand by strand, the hair continued to change, the red deepening as it shrank and retracted upward, fluffing and curling as it produced afro clumps, growing larger until it turned into its full red afro clown hair form.
Angelina said, “Hohoho, Booble look at me! My funny afro clown hair makes my clown face even more adorable!” Booble smiled broadly, “Now you’ve become a funny and silly clown Angelina. Your spirit is truly clown-tastic!”
Angelina stared in the mirror, eyes wide. “It’s… it’s the clown from my old drawing!” she gasped, laughing in delighted surprise. The magic had brought her childhood vision to life — exactly as she’d once imagined herself.
Booble “Because the magic sees what’s already in your heart, kiddo. Your imagination, your memories — it just brings that clown to life.”
Unable to contain her joy, Angelina squeezed her bulbous red clown nose. The squeaky sound “Honk! Honk! Honk!” sounded pleasant to her ears. Angelina laughed out loud. “Hahahaha, I really like the ‘honk honk’ sound of my clown nose.”
Booble squeezed it too — Honk! Honk! Honk! — “Hahahaha, one of the funniest things about clowns is their bulbous clown noses that can make a squeaky sound honk honk. You’re a natural!”
“Booble, is this clown face really real? I still feel like it’s a dream!”
“If you don’t believe me, wash your face with soap. Then you’ll see for yourself,” Booble replied with a wide grin.
She washed her face — the clown appearance remained intact.
“Wow, this clown face is real, not just makeup! Thank you Booble for turning me into a permanent clown!” Angelina exclaimed happily.
Booble laughed. “Ho ho ho, you’re welcome Angelina. It’s my job as a clown to spread joy to humans so they know how much fun it is to become a clown. You’re a shining star in our circus now!”
Meanwhile, in the modest kitchen of Serenity’s house bathed in the soft glow of late afternoon sunlight. Serenity, with her dark red hair tied back, stood by the counter, chopping vegetables for dinner. Her blind aunt, Ashley, sat at the small wooden table, her hands tracing the edge of a teacup, the faint scent of chamomile lingering in the air.
The rhythmic tap of Ashley’s cane rested against the chair leg, a quiet comfort in their routine. As a high schooler without her own place, Serenity had been living with Ashley since the tragic accident that claimed her parents’ lives years ago, turning their cozy home into a sanctuary of quiet routines and gentle care.
“Ashley, dear, did you have a good day at school?” Ashley asked, her voice warm but tinged with curiosity. Her sightless eyes tilted toward the sound of the knife against the cutting board.
Serenity paused, her brow furrowing. “It was fine, Aunt Ash. Just… the usual,” she replied, her tone clipped. She didn’t mention the argument with Angelina or the growing tension over her friend’s clown obsession.
Ashley nodded, smiling faintly. “Good to hear. I thought I heard some commotion earlier—maybe Angelina’s silly horns again?” She chuckled softly, her memory drifting to the girls’ childhood games. Serenity forced a small laugh, keeping her focus on the carrots. “Maybe. She’s always up to something.” She didn’t elaborate, her mind was already drifting to the confrontation that had left her unsettled.
Ashley reached out, her hand finding Serenity’s arm. “You two are thick as thieves. Don’t let a little nonsense come between you, alright?” Her voice carried a gentle wisdom, honed by years of raising Serenity after the accident. “I won’t,” Serenity murmured, though her grip on the knife tightened.
Back at the circus, Booble saw Angelina was still wearing her polka dot clown dress from school. “It seems like you need to change your human clothes into a proper clown costume,” he said.
Angelina nodded enthusiastically. “I can’t wait to wear a full colorful and funny clown costume too!”
Booble then gave Angelina a pair of white clown gloves. “Wear these clown gloves. These clown gloves will make your clown look even sweeter.”
Angelina accepted the clown gloves with a wide smile. Angelina then inserted her hands into the soft clown gloves. However, instead of just covering her skin, the clown gloves actually attached tightly and fused with her skin to form a new layer of skin!
“Wow, look at this Booble! My hand skin has turned into white clown gloves!” Angelina exclaimed in amazement, looking at her hands covered in white clown gloves.
Booble smiled broadly. “Angelina, those gloves aren’t just accessories, they’re part of your new clown body. They’ll help you perform amazing tricks!” Angelina felt her clown gloves, which felt smooth and elastic.
She tried to stretch her arms. She was surprised; she saw her arms could stretch up to five times their original length! “Wow, now my hands are elastic with these clown gloves! I can lengthen my hands as I please!” she exclaimed happily, looking at her clown gloves.
Booble laughed at Angelina’s excitement. “Of course, Angelina, all clowns have elastic bodies, including their hands. You’re ready for the big top!”
Angelina enthusiastically stretched her right hand, which was covered in elastic clown gloves. The more she stretched, the longer her hand became, until finally the tips of her fingers could reach Booble’s clown nose, which was standing a little further away.
“Look, Booble! My hand can stretch like this!” Angelina exclaimed in amazement, then playfully squeezed Booble’s clown nose. “Honk! Honk! Honk!”
The funny sound was heard as Angelina squeezed Booble’s clown nose. Booble laughed cheerfully.
“Ho ho ho, it’s fun to have elastic clown gloves like that? You’re a pro already!” Angelina nodded enthusiastically. “Right, Booble! I can feel that not only my gloves, but my whole clown body feels elastic like rubber.” Booble smiled broadly.
“Of course, Angelina. As a clown, you have a flexible and elastic body, not just your hands. You’ll dazzle the audience!” Angelina looked at her clown body in amazement, then pulled her hand back until it returned to its original size. “Thank you, Booble. You have turned me into a clown that I have always dreamed of,” she said sincerely. Booble nodded happily.
“You’re welcome, Angelina. Now you are one of us, the clowns who bring joy, smiles, and silliness to the world. Let’s celebrate!”
Booble smiled broadly and then gave Angelina a clown costume.
“Well, now it’s time to wear this clown costume, Angelina.” Angelina accepted the clown costume enthusiastically and walks behind the cover for privacy.
Carefully, she began to wear each piece of her clown costume. First, a rainbow-colored and polka dot clown dress with a puffed-up skirt, creates a playful, voluminous silhouette. The dress featured multicolored polka dots (red, yellow, blue, green) on a gradient background, emphasizing her vibrant clown identity.
“Wow, how beautiful!” Angelina exclaimed in amazement, twirling her body, letting her clown skirt puff up playfully. “I feel like a Clown Princess after wearing this clown costume.”
Next, Angelina donned pink polka dot bloomers that covered her thighs, adding a whimsical layer beneath her skirt with a soft, stretchy texture. Then, she wore orange-yellow striped clown socksthat reached above her knees, blending bright colors and bold stripes for a classic clown look. “All done!” Angelina exclaimed happily.
Booble smiled broadly and then said. “Well, all you have to do is wear these clown shoes, Angelina.” Booble gave Angelina a pair of red Mary Jane shoes with white polka dot motifs, described as “funny” with wide, rounded tips that likely squeaked when she walked, enhancing her silly clown persona. “These clown shoes are so funny!” Angelina exclaimed as she put them on
*Angelina Before and After*
After Angelina finished dressing, Booble smiled widely. “Angelina, your clown look is now perfect. You’re ready to steal the show!” Angelina gazed at her clown face in the mirror in amazement. “Thank you, Booble! After wearing this clown costume, my clown appearance has become even cuter and funnier!”
Angelina couldn’t contain her admiration for her clown appearance. She then playfully squeezed her bulbous red clown nose, making a squeaky sound “Honk! Honk! Honk!” that made her laugh out loud. “Hahahaha, I love the ‘honk-honk’ from my clown nose!”
Angelina exclaimed between laughs. Booble laughed along at Angelina’s happiness. He was happy to be able to make the girl’s dream of becoming a clown come true.
Angelina remembered her best friend, Serenity, who often teased and bullied her because Angelina liked clowns. With a wide smile, she turned to Booble.
Now fueled by her lingering hurt, Angelina wanted to get her revenge on Serenity for the destruction and betrayal, but deep down, she also yearned to rebuild their best friendship—with Serenity finally embracing and accepting Angelina’s love for clowns, turning their bond into something even stronger, happier, and sillier.
“Booble, would you help me teach Serenity a lesson?” said Angelina. “She often insults and bullies me just because I like clowns.” Booble nodded with a wide grin. “Oki dokie, Angelina. How about we make Serenity become a clown like us? So she can feel what it is to become a silly clown. It’ll be a grand prank that heals old wounds and brings you two closer than ever!”
Angelina giggled. “Hahahaha, great idea, Booble! I can’t wait to see Serenity turn into a clown like us, so she’ll regret what she did to me and we can laugh together again.”
Booble and Angelina left the circus tent and headed to the clown car to go to Serenity’s house. The clown car was filled with clown accessories and colorful polka dot car paint.
When they arrived, Angelina skipped happily to Serenity’s front door, her excitement palpable. Serenity was living with her blind aunt, Ashley, who had raised her after a tragic accident claimed her parents’ lives years ago. At that moment, Ashley was in the kitchen, her hands moving with practiced ease as she poured hot water into a teapot, the faint aroma of chamomile filling the air.
The clown car stopped right in front of Serenity’s house. Booble and Angelina got out, and Angelina, still skipping, reached the door first. She knocked energetically. Footsteps could be heard approaching the door from inside.
Serenity, who was inside her house, heard the knocking on the door. Carefully, she walked towards the door; before opening it, she checked through the window next to the door. She was surprised; she saw two clown figures standing in front of her door. Serenity was surprised by the arrival of the clowns and then shouted, “Who are you and why did you come to my house?” she said in a tone full of suspicion and confusion. Booble smiled widely behind his clown nose.
“We are clowns, Serenity. We came here to make you a clown like us. Please open the door and join the fun!”
Serenity looked at them warily. “Freak clowns, I won’t open the door for you!” Angelina giggled at Serenity’s reaction.
“Come on, Serenity. You’re sure to love being a clown like us. It’s a whole new world of laughter!”
“No, thank you! Go away, you weird clowns!”
Serenity snapped from behind the window.
Booble sighed. “What a pity, Serenity. We actually wanted to make you become a clown so you could live in joy and silliness forever. Don’t miss out on the magic!”
Angelina nodded in agreement. “That’s right, Serenity. You’re sure to feel the joy of being a funny and silly clown like us. Give it a chance!”
However, Serenity remained stubborn. “I don’t want to be a clown. You’d better get out of here right now!”
Booble and Angelina exchanged glances with wide clown smiles, then nodded meaningfully. It seemed they had to use another way to get into Serenity’s house.
Booble then squeezed his bulbous red clown nose. “Honk! Honk! Honk!”
The sound made Booble feel ticklish and happy.
In the kitchen, Ashley’s ears perked up at the sudden “Honk! Honk! Honk!” She tilted her head, her graying hair catching the soft light filtering through the window. “What in the world?” she muttered, setting the teapot down.
“Serenity, dear, is that you? Did Angelina bring those silly clown toys again?” she called out, a faint smile tugging at her lips.
“Um, no. There were two freaks dressed as clowns at the front door. They’ll go away. Here let’s get you to the dining room and I’ll shut the door to your music.
Angelina followed suit, squeezing her clown nose until it made a sound. “Honk! Honk! Honk!”
Suddenly, both clown bodies began to deflate with a balloon deflation sound, their polka-dot costumes wrinkling like deflated balloon animals. Their bodies lie there flat except for their noses.
They slipped silently through the narrow gap under the front door into the entryway hall.
Serenity walked back to the front door and was shocked and disbelieving at the sight in front of her. “What’s happening? This can’t be real!”
The next moment, Booble and Angelina appeared lying on the floor of Serenity’s entryway hall in deflated clown bodies, except for their clown noses which remained bulbous.
They then blew on their cheeks, causing their clown bodies to return to their original size. They then stood before Serenity. Serenity looked at Booble and Angelina with a mixture of shock and fear. “How did you do that? Deflating your bodies and entering my house like that?”
Angelina smiled broadly. “Because we are clowns, Serenity. Our bodies are elastic; we can deflate ourselves and enter tight spaces. It’s part of the magic!”
Booble nodded with a wide grin. “Exactly. You will be able to do the same thing, Serenity. We are here to make you become a clown like us. Ready for the fun?”
Serenity backed away slowly, her hands trembling. “No! Get out of my house, you weird clowns! I don’t want to be a clown! What you’re doing is just a fake illusion!”
Angelina chuckled. “Oh, this is no illusion, Serenity. It’s a reality that you’ll experience too, soon enough. Come on, Serenity. You’re sure to love being a clown later. Trust me!”
But Serenity still stubbornly refused. “No! I don’t want to be a clown! Just go away!”
Serenity opened her eyes wide, carefully observing the female clown’s face in front of her. Suddenly, she was startled. “Angelina? Is that you?”Serenity asked in disbelief.
Angelina, dressed in her colorful clown costume, smiled widely. “Yes, it’s me, Serenity. I’ve become a clown now.”
Serenity took a step back, still unable to believe her eyes. “But how can that be? You’ve really turned into a clown?”
Angelina nodded, a hint of annoyance showing on her face. “Yes, Serenity. I got upset because you kept mocking and ruining my clown drawings. So I wanted to teach you a lesson by turning you into a clown. Fair’s fair, right?”
Serenity swallowed hard, looking anxiously between Booble and Angelina. “But… I don’t want to be a clown! I don’t like clowns!”
Booble chuckled softly. “Too bad, Serenity. Now you have no other choice. We’re going to make you a clown, just like your best friend. It’s time to join the circus!”
Angelina nodded, a wide clown smile spreading across her face. “Yes, Serenity. Now it’s your turn to experience what it’s like to be a funny and silly clown.”
Angelina raised her hand, revealing an elastic white clown glove. “Look, Serenity. I’m a real clown, not just someone wearing clown makeup. We can perform all magical things with our elastic bodies.”
Serenity shook her head doubtfully. “But… clowns are just normal people wearing makeup. I don’t believe clowns can really do magical things like that.”
Angelina smiled widely. “You’ll believe it soon, Serenity. Watch this!” She then pointed her clown glove around the room. Suddenly, rainbow light emanated from her clown glove, filling Serenity’s entire house.
The magic rippled through the entryway hall first, polka-dotting the wallpaper and turning family photos into goofy clown portraits, then seeped into the adjacent living room, where couch cushions puffed into rainbow stripes and Serenity’s sneakers by the door morphed into squeaky clown loafers.
It even tinged the kitchen doorway with faint sparkles, but spared Ashley’s teacup and cane, leaving her personal space subtly untouched to avoid alarming her further.
Serenity watched in awe as the rainbow light shone. Once the light faded, Serenity was shocked to see the changes.
“How is this possible…?” Serenity was at a loss for words, staring in wonder at the changes around her.
Booble chuckled softly. “This is Clown Magic, Serenity. We can turn anything into something more cheerful and fun; this is the power of clowns. Isn’t it wonderful?”
Angelina winked. “Now you know, we’re not just people wearing clown makeup. We are real clowns with magical abilities. Ready to see more?”
Serenity stared in amazement at the room that had been transformed into a clown house. She turned to Angelina with a look of surprise.
“Angelina, why did you turn my house into a clown house like this?” asked Serenity.
Angelina smiled broadly. “I told you, sillybutt. I’m a clown, and I can do magic as I wish. It’s payback time!”
Serenity shook her head in disbelief. “No way… This must be just an illusion. It’s not real!”
Angelina nodded. “If you still don’t believe it, try erasing my clown makeup.”
Hesitantly, Serenity reached out and wiped Angelina’s face. However, instead of disappearing, the clown makeup remained intact on her face. In fact, Serenity felt as if it were Angelina’s real skin, not just makeup. Serenity was also amazed at how smooth and soft Angelina’s skin was with her clown face. Serenity was shocked. With hesitation, she squeezed Angelina’s bulbous red nose. “Honk! Honk! Honk!” The sound tickled Serenity’s ears, making Angelina laugh happily.
Serenity still couldn’t believe it. She pulled Angelina’s clown nose, trying to prove that it wasn’t a real part of her body. However, instead of coming off, the clown nose stretched longer and more elastic like rubber. It’s like there was an elastic rubber that connects the base of the clown nose to the tip of the bulbous clown nose.
Serenity was surprised, then released her grip. The clown nose returned to its original shape, becoming a bulbous red clown nose, which made Serenity even more stunned. “Is this… really real?” Serenity muttered in disbelief.
Angelina nodded happily. “Yes, sillybutt. I’m a real clown, not just a human wearing clown makeup. It won’t be long before you become a part of the clown world full of fun and silliness. Get ready!”
Serenity fell silent, her expression showing that she finally believed Angelina’s existence as a real clown. She lowered her head, looking regretful.
“Angelina, I… I’m sorry for my previous actions that damaged your clown drawings, I didn’t mean to make you into this,” Serenity said with a regretful tone.
Angelina looked at her. “I forgive you, Serenity. But you must accept your punishment. It’s only fair after what you did.”
Serenity looked up with a frightened face. “Punishment? What do you mean?”
Angelina laughed. “Hahaha, we’re going to make you become a clown. A little justice served with a smile!”
Serenity took a step back, her hands trembling. “No, I don’t want to be a clown! Please don’t do that to me!”
Booble also stepped closer to Serenity. “Too bad, Serenity. You have no other choice. We’ll transform you into a clown, just like Angelina. It’s your turn to shine!”
Serenity screamed in panic. “No! I don’t want to be a clown! Let me go!”
Angelina shook her head slowly. “You have to accept your punishment, Serenity. This is payback for what you did to me before. No escaping the circus now!”
Serenity backed away further, looking for an escape, but she knew Booble and Angelina would keep chasing her. She had no choice but to try to run away. Serenity ran quickly towards the yard of her house, dashing through the entryway hall into the living room and then up the short hallway towards the back door.
Angelina raised her hand covered in white clown gloves, her arm stretching elastically to reach towards Serenity who was trying to escape. “Don’t run away, Serenity!” Angelina called out, easily lengthening her arm further.
“Where are you going sillybutt!” she added
Serenity was startled to see Angelina’s arm stretch so far. She tried to run, but Angelina’s elastic arm moved faster.
As Serenity made her exit outside, Angelina grabbed onto Serenity’s body tightly.
“What are you doing? Let me go!”
Angelina reeled Serenity in like a yo-yo, elastic arm retracting. Serenity was dragged back through the room where Aunt Ash can’t hear.
On the other side, Booble also began stretching his elastic clown body towards Serenity. Booble’s face suddenly appeared right in front of Serenity, startling the girl.
“Don’t be afraid, Serenity. We just want to make you smile,” Booble said cheerfully. “It’s all part of the fun!”
Suddenly, from Booble’s hand covered in white gloves, a cream pie appeared. Serenity’s eyes widened in disbelief at what she saw.
“What are you going to do?” Serenity asked in a panicked tone. Booble smiled widely.
“This is a magic cream pie that will turn you into a clown. Ready for the surprise?”
Quickly, Booble threw the cream pie right into Serenity’s face. The cream pie landed squarely on Serenity’s face, covering it in sticky cream.
Serenity screamed in surprise, trying to wipe the sticky cream pie off her face as some dripped and dumped on the floor.
Meanwhile, Angelina and Booble roared with laughter watching Serenity’s reaction.
Serenity felt a tickling and cold sensation as the pie cream stuck to her face. The cream pie seemed to come alive, quickly spreading all over her face. Serenity felt how the cream was absorbed into her pores, forming a chalky white layer that covered her entire face.
“What’s happening?” Serenity cried out in panic, trying to wipe her face. But the white layer seemed to stick tightly, unable to be wiped off.
Angelina giggled seeing Serenity’s reaction. “Look Serenity, your face is starting to turn a chalky white color. Isn’t it fabulous?”
Sure enough, the white from the cream pie slowly spread over Serenity’s whole body. Serenity watched as the white color spread from her neck, creeping down her arms and legs until it eventually covered her entire body. Serenity gasped in horror at the transformation that happened to her.
“No way… This isn’t right!” Booble patted Serenity’s cheek.
“Calm down Serenity. Feel how much fun the transformation into a clown is. You’ll love it soon!”
Serenity shook her head vigorously. “No! I don’t want to be a clown like you! Put me back the way I was!” However, her efforts seemed to be in vain. The white color continued to spread and grow thicker, wrapping her entire body in clown skin.
Serenity felt a strange change in her lip area. Slowly, a bright red color began to spread on her lips, replacing her natural color, with a glossy sheen adding a magical sparkle.
“Hey, what happened to my lips?” asked Serenity panicked. She tried to resist the change. Serenity felt her lips elastically move on their own to form a smile. It was as if some magical power forced her to smile widely. “No! I don’t want to smile like this!”
Serenity screamed in frustration. Angelina and Booble chuckled amusedly at the change in Serenity’s lips.
“It’s useless for you to hold back, Serenity. Your transformation into a clown can’t be stopped,” Angelina said.
Serenity’s lips continued to widen, forming a wide, red clown smile. Serenity tried to pout as her lips continued to move, but her efforts were in vain as her lips continued to magically move on their own.
Finally, Serenity gave up. She could no longer fight the changes that were happening to her lips. That wide, red clown smile was now sweetly spread across her chalk-white skin. Serenity felt a tingly sensation in her nose.
She saw a red dot appear there, growing wider and wider. “What is this again?”
Serenity was frightened, trying to erase the red dot. However, instead of disappearing, the red color spread evenly across her nose.
Serenity watched in panic as her nose slowly began to expand accompanied by a “ciiiit” creaking sound. “No, not again!” she screamed in panic. As time went on, her nose grew bigger and bigger, turning round and bright in color.
Angelina and Booble laughed at Serenity’s transformation. “Look, your nose has turned into a cute clown nose, Serenity. Perfect for honking!” Serenity stared at her reflection in the mirror, unable to believe what she saw. Her nose had really turned into a bulbous red clown nose.
Serenity stared curiously at the bulbous red clown nose that was now part of her face. Hesitantly, she raised her hand and touched the clown’s nose. “This can’t be,” she muttered in disbelief.
Suddenly, Serenity squeezed the clown’s nose lightly. Then, there was a sound that surprised her. “Honk! Honk!” Serenity cried out in surprise. “What? Where did that sound come from?” Angelina giggled amusedly at Serenity’s reaction.
“That is the sound of a clown nose, sillybutt. Just try squeezing it again. It’s your new signature!”
Still hesitant, Serenity squeezed the clown nose again. Once again, there was a cute “Honk! Honk!” that tickled the ears. “Hahahaha, how adorable!” Booble laughed happily.
Serenity looked at herself in the mirror with mixed feelings. She still couldn’t believe that bulbous red clown nose was now part of her face. “But how come…?” she asked in confusion.
Angelina patted Serenity’s shoulder anxiously. “I told you, I’m a real clown. Now you’re still in the process of becoming a clown like me. Hang in there!”
Serenity was still looking at her face in the mirror; she noticed another change on her face. She felt a slight itch around her eyebrow area. Staring back at herself in the mirror, she saw that her eyebrows started to move and arch upwards on their own, turning a vibrant sapphire blue with faint iridescent sparkles. Not only that, the color of Serenity’s originally dark red eyebrows had now turned blue.
The blue color stood out in the middle of her white facial skin.
Serenity felt an uncomfortable itching sensation on her scalp. She scratched her hair frantically. “What’s wrong? Why does my head feel so itchy?” she asked anxiously. Angelina smiled widely.
“Calm down, Serenity. It’s just a sign that your clown transformation is still ongoing. It’s getting exciting!” Serenity looked at Angelina in confusion, until suddenly, she felt a change in her hair. First, her dark red hair began to fade to neon lime green, the color spreading evenly before every strand began to move on its own, as if following the flow of clown energy flowing through her hair.
The green deepened as it shrank and retracted upward, fluffing and curling as it produced afro clumps, growing larger until it turned into its full neon lime green afro clown hair form with iridescent sparkles. “Oh my God, my hair… my hair looks like this?”
Serenity stared at her reflection in the mirror with an expression of disbelief. Angelina laughed cheerfully. “Hahaha. There it is, fluffy green afro clown hair! You look so beautiful, Serenity. A real clown queen!”
Serenity touched her hair that had now turned into green afro clown hair. Its soft and puffy texture surprised her. “Am I hallucinating? I… I’ve really become a clown,” she murmured.
Booble and Angelina looked at each other happily as Serenity’s transformation into a clown was complete.
“Look, Angelina! Serenity’s transformation into a clown went perfectly,” Booble exclaimed joyfully. Angelina nodded in agreement. “Remember when I drew you as Clown Queen Serenity? Neon green hair, blue eyebrows, the works? What your brain saw is what you turned into.”
The two clowns laughed happily, gazing at Serenity who had now turned into a clown.
“Now Serenity is truly one of us. Isn’t that wonderful?” Angelina said with a wide smile. Booble nodded enthusiastically. “Of course. Seeing a human permanently turn into a clown is the most joyful thing for clowns. You’re part of the family now!”
However, Serenity’s expression showed anxiety and fear. She looked at Booble and Angelina with pleading eyes. “No, I don’t want to be a clown. I want to go back to being a normal human,” she murmured with a trembling voice. Angelina patted Serenity’s chalky white cheeks. “Welcome to the clown world, Serenity. You’ll get used to all this soon. It’s a wild ride!”
But Serenity shook her head vigorously. “No, I don’t want this! Turn me back to normal!” Booble and Angelina glanced at each other, then laughed amusedly at Serenity’s reaction.
“There’s no way to turn you back, Serenity. You’ve become part of us, clowns full of cheerfulness and silliness,” Booble said.
Serenity felt panicked. She wasn’t ready to accept her new life as a clown. Serenity ran up to the mirror, staring at her face that had now completely transformed into a clown.
She looked with fear at her chalky white face, wide red clown smile, bulbous red clown nose, curved blue eyebrows, and green afro clown hair. “No, this can’t be. This isn’t me!” she yelled in frustration.
In a panic, Serenity tried to rub her face, trying to remove all the clown makeup that was stuck on her face. However, instead of coming off, the makeup remained on her face. “Why won’t it come off? This isn’t me, this isn’t me!” she cried out, growing more frantic.
Angelina and Booble looked at Serenity while laughing. They approached the girl and gently held her shoulders.
“Calm down, sillybutt. That’s not just makeup, your clown face is your real skin now,” Angelina said.
Serenity shook her head hard. “No, that can’t be! This must just be a bad dream!”
Booble sighed softly. “Unfortunately this is not a dream, Serenity. You really have transformed into a clown, just like us. Embrace the magic!”
Seeing that Serenity still couldn’t accept becoming a clown, Angelina had an idea to insert clown thoughts into Serenity’s mind.
“Serenity, you really need to accept yourself as a clown,” Angelina said. With her hand covered in white gloves, Angelina moved her hand, forming a circle in the air.
“What are you doing?” Serenity asked warily, unable to understand what Angelina was planning.
Without answering, Angelina blew into the circle she made. Suddenly, a giant soap bubble appeared and quickly moved towards Serenity.
“No!” Serenity cried out in panic, but the bubble had already covered her entire head.
Serenity watched a series of images swirl inside the soap bubble.
The bubble rewrote history through a clownish lens: forts became mini-circuses, talent shows turned into clown extravaganzas, the backpack stomp became a playful pie-throwing “prank gone wrong,” and their bond became a lifelong adventure of giggles and elastic antics — no regret, only silly lessons and unbreakable friendship.
“No, don’t take all my memories!” Serenity cried, trying to reach for the images, but it was no use. As if sucked into the bubble, all memories of her life as a human entered the bubble. Angelina watched with a wide grin, as the bubble absorbed all of Serenity’s human thoughts.
The giant bubble that covered Serenity’s head slowly lifted off, flying up and away. Angelina, laughing, raised her hand which was covered in white clown gloves. “Time to erase all your human memories,” she said, then with a quick motion she extended her arm, reaching for the bubble floating above.
Serenity stared in panic at the images of her memories flying away with the bubble. She tried to reach for the bubble, trying to hold on to all her memories so they wouldn’t disappear. “No! Don’t take those memories from me!”
Serenity screamed in desperation. But all her efforts were in vain. Angelina’s touch on the bubble made the bubble burst, making all of Serenity’s human memories disappear, including her ties to Ashley. “Goodbye, old Serenity,” Angelina said, her eyes twinkling with amusement.
The shards of the bubble fell, along with the disappearance of all Serenity’s memories of her life as a human. Serenity stared blankly, no longer recognizing herself. Everything she knew about her past was gone.
Angelina, with a wide smile, moved her hand again. She made a circle in the air with her hand covered in white clown gloves, then blew on the circle. Instantly, a giant soap bubble appeared, Angelina blew on a small bubble as the big bubble moved rapidly towards Serenity. However, this time the bubble was different. Inside it were pieces of images showing Serenity’s new life as a clown.
The soap bubble didn’t just implant fresh memories—it rewrote history itself, reframing every past event through a clownish lens: the backyard fort became a mini-circus tent with balloon walls, the talent show a full clown extravaganza where Serenity had secretly dreamed of joining Angelina onstage, and even the backpack destruction twisted into a “prank gone wrong” during a childhood clown costume party where Serenity’s “stomping” was just playful pie-throwing that accidentally popped props.
Their bond emerged stronger, a lifelong clownish adventure of shared giggles and elastic antics, with no trace of human regret—only silly lessons learned and unbreakable friendship.
Serenity watched herself being born into a happy clown family, growing up, and going to clown school, until finally working as a clown in a circus. She saw herself dating a clown boy, laughing together, and a life as a clown full of joy, with no trace of her former life or of Ashley. Slowly but surely, the images began to sink into Serenity, filling her entire memory. Her face now became brighter. A joyful laugh burst from her lips. Serenity felt the euphoria of the joy of being a clown flowing through her entire body. “Yes, this is my true life,” Serenity murmured, a wide smile on her clown face.
As the bubble merged with her, Serenity burst into laughter. She felt so happy, as if all the burdens of her past had completely disappeared. “I’m a clown now!” Serenity exclaimed joyfully. “This is my true destiny!”
Angelina watched Serenity’s transformation with delight. She who used to really hate clowns, had now truly become part of the clowns’ world. Angelina smiled happily seeing Serenity who now felt joy and was embracing her new clown life.
She then gently patted Serenity’s shoulder. “Serenity, look at your face again in the mirror,”
Angelina said, guiding Serenity to stand in front of the mirror in her bedroom. Serenity then gazed at her clown face’s reflection. She was pleased by how sweet and cute her clown face looked. Serenity admired her wide red clown smile. Serenity moved her mouth, feeling that her lips were flexible with a rubbery texture. “Wow, this is truly amazing,” Serenity murmured, unable to hide her awe.
She laughed cheerfully, showing off her wide adorable clown smile. Serenity examined her clown face again in the mirror, entranced by the clown transformation. She giggled when touching her bulbous red clown nose, feeling its elastic and squashy texture.
Serenity couldn’t resist and squeezed her clown nose gleefully. “Honk honk!” Her clown nose squeaked. “Look, Angelina! My clown nose can squeak!” Serenity exclaimed enthusiastically. “I love my clown nose,” she said while squeezing it again, producing a “honk honk” sound.
Angelina and Booble smiled seeing Serenity’s joy, saying “Every clown must have an adorable clown nose that can make a squeaky sound. Squeezing a clown nose until it makes ‘honk honk’ is something fun for clowns. You’re a natural honker!”
Serenity slowly shifted her attention to her clown hair. Carefully, she stroked the fluffy green afro clown hair now growing on her head, admiring the neon lime hue and iridescent sparkles. “Wow, it feels so soft and squishy,” Serenity murmured in awe at her clown hair’s texture. She leaned closer to the mirror, closely examining each puffed-out green clown hair strand tickling her cheeks. “I really love this clown hair,” she said with a wide smile. “So silly and adorable!”
Angelina watched Serenity still happily playing with her clown hair. She then smiled and said, “It seems you need to replace all your boring human clothes with a colorful clown costume, Serenity. Let’s make you sparkle!” Serenity paused her activities for a moment and nodded in agreement.
“Yes, Angelina. A clown should always appear in a cheerful and colorful clown costume! I’m ready!” Gently, Angelina took Serenity’s hand. Serenity felt a pleasant tingling sensation as Angelina touched her.
“What are you doing, Angelina?” Serenity asked curiously. Angelina just smiled. Slowly, the skin on Serenity’s hands began to change color, becoming increasingly white and thick, then turning into soft and elastic clown gloves. “Wow, I’m so happy my skin is turning into white clown gloves,” Serenity exclaimed cheerfully.
She moved her fingers, enjoying the soft and squishy texture of her clown gloves. Booble said. “Clown gloves make your clown appearance even sweeter and funnier, Serenity. They’re your new magic tools!” Serenity looked in amazement at her hands, which had now transformed into white clown gloves.
She rubbed the smooth, squishy, incredibly stretchy texture. “Wow, it feels really amazing,” Serenity murmured, trying to move her fingers. “These gloves are so soft and flexible.” Suddenly, she remembered something. With curiosity, Serenity tried to extend her arm, and to her surprise, she watched as her arm easily stretched far.
“Wow, I can lengthen my arm as I wish!” she exclaimed in awe. “This is truly a special clown glove. I could grab the moon!”
Angelina and Booble smiled with satisfaction as they saw Serenity’s enthusiasm as a clown.
“Well, now you’re starting to understand the magical abilities of a clown,” Booble said.
“See what you can do with your clown gloves. The circus awaits!”
Hearing Booble’s challenge, Serenity immediately looked around the room. Her eyes focused on a polka dot clown hat with a red pom-pom at the end, which was lying on the table. Without hesitation, Serenity extended her arm and easily grabbed the clown hat. With joy, she immediately put it on her head. “Look, Booble! I managed to take this clown hat!” Serenity exclaimed cheerfully.
Booble and Angelina laughed at Serenity’s increasingly silly and adorable antics. Booble took out a handful of colorful confetti from his clown costume pocket.
With enthusiasm, Booble sprinkled the confetti into the air. The confetti floated and fell, forming a colorful confetti rain. The confetti also fell on Serenity’s body.
The confetti that landed on Serenity’s body magically began moving and wrapping around her. Serenity felt a warm, tingling sensation throughout her body as the confetti moved.
Booble sprinkled colorful confetti into the air. The glittering flecks swirled around Serenity like a sparkling tornado, wrapping her up tight from head to toe like a birthday present. Her arms pressed gently to her sides, bound in the soft, shimmering layer.
She giggled, eyes wide, as the confetti pressed against her normal clothes — still visible beneath the translucent wrap — and began to dissolve them in a warm tingle.
Then, while still fully wrapped, something started to grow outward from her body. It looked like a skirt bloomed outward in a dramatic flare and the shoulder puffs swelled like rising balloons, stretching the wrapping taut.
With one playful poke from her own gloved finger, the confetti burst open like gift paper.
Out stepped Lime Twirl in her complete clown costume: bright white dress covered in multicolored polka dots, ruffled neck and wrists, puffed shoulders, flared knee-length skirt puffed with an iridescent petticoat underneath. Green bloomers peeked from below.
*Serenity before and after*
The texture felt soft and stretchy. “This is truly amazing. I really love it,” she said cheerfully.
As Serenity was happily admiring her clown bloomers, she suddenly felt a tickling sensation at the tips of her feet. She shifted her gaze downwards, curious about what was happening. “Hmm, what’s this?”
Serenity murmured, then slowly lowered her eyes. To her surprise, she saw something starting to grow from her bare feet. A pair of orange-pink striped clown socks slowly crept upwards, covering her entire legs up to tightly above her knees.
“Wow, look at this!” Serenity exclaimed in awe. She moved her legs, feeling the soft and squishy clown socks.
“It turns out not just my hands, but my leg skin also transformed into clown socks,” she murmured, endlessly observing the changes happening.
As she moved her legs, Serenity felt them becoming more elastic and flexible. Out of curiosity, she tried lengthening her legs, and was astonished to see that her legs could extend as she wanted.
“This is incredible!” Serenity cried out joyfully. “I can stretch my legs however I want! I’m a clown acrobat!”
“These clothes are so soft and smooth. I never felt more comfortable in my entire life!”
“I know right?” Angelina replies rubbing her dress to the high knees.
Angelina and Booble, watching her, laughed happily and amusedly at Serenity’s enthusiastic reaction.
After examining the changes to her legs, Serenity smiled widely. She then said, “My clown appearance is almost perfect. Now all that’s left is to wear clown shoes, and my clown look will be perfect!”
With enthusiasm, Serenity raised her hand covered in soft and stretchy white clown gloves. She extended her arm, reaching for the shoe rack in the corner of the room.
“Now, what do we have here?” Serenity murmured as she rummaged through the rack. Her eyes lit up when she found a pair of orange polka dot Mary Jane clown shoes with shiny gold star-shaped buckles.
“This is it, cute clown shoes!” she exclaimed happily. Slowly, Serenity slipped the clown shoes onto her feet now covered in clown socks.
Instantly, the clown shoes perfectly molded to the shape of Serenity’s feet. The tips of the clown shoes were wide and rounded. “Amazing!” Serenity cried out gleefully. “I love these sweet and silly clown shoes. They squeak so well!”
Angelina said, “Now you’re truly ready to be a real clown. Your clown appearance is complete from head to toe. Welcome to the spotlight!”
Serenity’s clown appearance was now truly perfect. She gazed at her reflection in the mirror with a wide smile, unable to hide her happiness. “Finally, my clown appearance is perfect!” Serenity exclaimed cheerfully. She couldn’t help but jump up and down with joy.
“Squeak squeak squeak!” A loud sound suddenly rang out as Serenity hopped around. It turned out her new clown shoes made funny noises with each step, varying between “squeak-squeak” and “squeak-squawk.”
“Wow, even my clown shoes can make squeaky sounds!” Serenity giggled happily. Seeing Serenity jumping around gleefully,
Booble smiled widely and said, “Welcome to the clown family, Serenity. You will experience the joy, silliness, and fun of being a clown forever. Living as a clown will never be boring. You’re our newest star!”
Serenity stopped in her tracks and faced Booble and Angelina. Her eyes shone brightly with happiness.
“Thank you, Booble and Angelina,” she said. “You’ve turned me into a clown; I feel so happy. Let’s make magic together!”
Serenity then hugged the two clowns tightly. “I can’t wait to start new adventures with you in this joyful clown world.”
Angelina and Booble returned Serenity’s embrace, sharing in the euphoric atmosphere.
“Of course, Serenity. You’re part of the clown family now,” Angelina said with a wide smile.
“Yes, we’ll always be together, a fun and silly clown family!” Booble chimed in cheerfully.
Booble then declared with a flourish, “From this day forward, Angelina, you shall be known as ‘Balloon’—your head and red afro clown hair and elastic energy, capturing your cheerful transformation. And Serenity, you are now ‘Lime Twirl’—highlighting your neon lime green afro and playful twirl into your new clown identity!”
“Balloon? Why Balloon, Booble?” said, Angelina
“Because your head and red hair remind me of a Balloon!”
“Hahahahahaha, I can be the Balloon clown!”
Booble waved his gloved hand with a flourish, and a shimmering bag of colorful balloons magically materialized in his palm. He handed it to Balloon with a wink. “For you, Balloon—the perfect prop for your buoyant spirit! For the kids!”
Then, he plucked a shiny red balloon from the bag, blew it up with a single puff that echoed like a cheerful honk, and tied it securely to her wrist with a ribbon, where it bobbed playfully like a loyal companion.
“The children will love me!” Balloon exclaimed.
As a final touch, Booble handed Lime Twirl a small green polka dot bow to tie into her neon lime green afro hair and a tiny rainbow umbrella jingling with bells as a prop, completing her vibrant clown identity. “Now you’re fully equipped for the circus, Lime Twirl!” he said with a chuckle.
“Let’s go back to the Aloha Circus! There are lots of exciting things waiting for us there,” Booble invited enthusiastically. Lime Twirl and Balloon nodded in agreement.
They held hands and walked together to the front of the house towards Booble’s parked clown car, Lime Twirl happily stepping with her squeaking clown shoes.
Ashley’s brow furrowed, her cane tapping the floor in confusion. “Serenity? What’s that noise? Is someone here with you?”The faint sparkles from the kitchen doorway had carried a whiff of cotton candy to her chamomile tea, but she dismissed it as a draft, her unchanged teacup grounding her in the familiar. Lime Twirl froze, her blue arched eyebrows twitching.
“Wait let me see this, Balloon.”
They pad down the hallway to the living room, peeking into the kitchen.
She stared at the blind woman, her mind blank from the soap bubble’s memory wipe. “Who… who are you?” she asked, letting go of Balloon’s hand.
Ashley’s hand tightened on her cane, her face paling. “Serenity, it’s me, Aunt Ash. What’s going on? That honking—it’s not one of Angelina’s toys, is it?”
Her fingers brushed the now-polka-dotted table edge in the dining room adjacent to the kitchen, but the squeaks from the hallway pulled her attention away.
Lime Twirl tilted her head, her green afro bobbing. The name “Aunt Ash” stirred nothing in her erased mind. She squeezed her nose again, the “Honk! Honk!” startling Ashley further. “I… I don’t know you, are you family?” she said softly, her clown grin unwavering.
Ashley’s breath hitched, her hand reaching out blindly. “Serenity, please, talk to me. What’s happened to you?” Her voice cracked with worry, but Lime Twirl only stepped back, her squeaky shoes retreating toward the door through the living room and entryway hall.
“I have to go,” Lime Twirl murmured, her tone oddly joyful. She turned, leaving Ashley in the kitchen, the blind woman’s calls fading as Lime Twirl’s clown car awaited outside, her past with Ashley severed by the magic that had reshaped her.
Walking towards the front door, Lime Twirl sees her phone. She grabbed her phone from the couch cushion. She opens it easily because there's no passcode. She touches the camera option.
White fades to earlier that day like a vision. Serenity grabs Angelina’s backpack, her hands trembling with frustration. “Serenity, what are you doing?!” Angelina exclaims, her hazel eyes wide with hurt. Serenity hesitates, tempted to destroy the clown nose and drawings inside, but stops, seeing Angelina’s pain.
“No. Nothing, I’m sorry,” she mutters, handing the backpack back and walking away, their friendship intact.
A few years later, in her senior year, flashes to Angelina and her boyfriend Blake, while holding her newborn daughter Isabella in the hospital. Serenity comes to visit.
The high school football field glows under a late spring sunset in 2018, the sky a blend of orange and purple hues. The air buzzes with cheers, the faint jingle of a distant ice cream truck mixing with the crowd’s excitement. Graduates mill about, their maroon gowns swaying, tassels dangling from their caps. There were a dozen seniors not walking.
Angelina, a human, is wearing a red dress with white polka dots, high heels, and a knee-length skirt swishing as she moves. Under her cap, covering her head and forehead, her long brown hair cascades down her back, and her eyelids shimmer with eyeliner and makeup. Serenity, wears a simple green sundress, her dark red hair loose and slightly wavy, framing her face.
Angelina pulls a glossy red clown nose from her pocket, her hazel eyes twinkling with mischief. “Selfie time!” she declares, popping the nose onto her face. Serenity leans her cheek against Angelina’s, rolling her eyes but smiling. “Ok, just one,” she says, her voice playful, indulging her best friend. You slide between them, your faces pressed close, with smiles. The camera flashes.
Flashes to reality of Lime Twirl and Balloon faces touching each other.
She pulls it back and checks out Instagram. Lime Twirl opened Instagram. Two new DMs popped up.
Katie: “Serenity, I think you went too far with Angelina today.”
Kyle: “Serenity, you should apologize to her. That looked rough.”
Lime Twirl tilted her head, lime afro bobbing. “Who… is Serenity?” she murmured.
The name felt oddly familiar, like a silly stage name she might have used as a little clown kid growing up — something cute and human-sounding before she got her real clown name when she got older. But that didn’t make sense. Her true name was Lime Twirl. Always had been.
She saw a selfie of two girls. “This picture must be Serenity. This is the girl that the woman in the kitchen said.”
“Uh, hehe… yeah I think we should get going…”
“There's another pretty girl there. Wait, why do they look familiar?”
Balloon was nervous about thinking maybe Serenity was never really a clown.
“Eh, I'm just guessing.” The thought drifted away like a popped balloon, leaving only giggles in its place.
Then Balloon had a quiet sigh of relief.
She closed the app, dropped the phone back amid confetti, and turned to Balloon with sparkling eyes.
Lime Twirl and Balloon hold hands and walk together out of the house towards Booble’s parked clown car, Lime Twirl happily stepping with her squeaking clown shoes.
Once in the car, Booble playfully squeezed his clown nose, making a “honk honk” sound.
“Wow, look! Your clown car is so magical and silly, Booble!” she exclaimed in awe. Booble laughed. “Of course, Lime Twirl. Everything in the clown world is filled with magical things and silliness. Hop in for the ride of your life!”
As Lime Twirl got into the car, Balloon paused a turns around. She blows a bubble It floats across the field, through the open window, and burst quietly in the kitchen. The polka dots fadd and the rest tuned to normal.
The three of them got into the clown car. Lime Twirl felt the plush and squishy texture of the clown car seats. Balloon and Booble sat comfortably in front.
“Let’s go, to the Aloha Circus!” Booble called out excitedly. He nimbly turned the steering wheel, and the clown car sped off fading white.
“Hey Balloon, I'm sorry I humiliated you at that party. I'm hoping we can still be best friends.”
“You’re already forgiven. Nothing will ever replace you,” she replied, and the girls embraced tightly.
Driving away, Balloon and Lime Twirl are the two best friends in the whole wide world — with a smile.
