THE PLANE THAT LANDED EXACTLY 37 YEARS LATER: PAN AMERICAN 914
On a hot July morning in 1955, Pan American Flight 914 departed for Miami. The plane and its 57 passengers disappeared into the blue sky, but three hours after the expected landing time, a curtain of mystery descended. The plane disappeared from radars and no distress signal was given. Although search and rescue teams looked into the depths of the Atlantic Ocean, no trace of the plane or passengers was found. The plane had vanished from the face of the earth, as if it had transcended time.
Years passed, technology advanced, the world changed, but the secret of Pan American 914 could not be solved. Until, 37 years later, on a September day in 1992, in a quiet airport in Venezuela, a radar operator named Juan de la Corte noticed a dot that suddenly appeared on his screen and then disappeared. This was traveling much faster than that of a normal aircraft. And this was no ordinary day.
Juan and his team could not believe their eyes when they saw the DC-4 McDonnell Douglas type plane, which had disappeared years ago, approaching the airport, as if it had come out of a time warp. The pilot of the plane inquired about his location over the radio in English. Upon learning that they were approaching the Caracas airport, the pilot calmly explained who they were and where they were flying from, as if time had stopped.
When the pilot said that they took off in 1955, Juan de la Corte and his team were flooded with questions about how the fabric of time could be stretched so much. While preparations were being made for landing, the tower was prepared to welcome the pilot. However, after the plane landed, the pilot warned "Do not approach the plane" and it suddenly took off again and disappeared, and the story became even more fascinating and no trace of it could be found since that day.
