hello!! i’m tasia (she/her) and this is my baby harumi! psst, if you’re into christian horse girl music or whatever they wanna call it nowadays please give ily:1 a try. trust me you won’t regret it hehe. while i may have had a general idea for this muse for some time now, she is essentially new to me so details will be fleshed out as they come along. meaning her info page is a work in progress and will be updated as time passes. what i can tell you is that she a second year undergrad, dance major (a whole ballerina), assistant captain in the women's division for figure skating, secretary for capella, and labeled as the saint. think tohru from fruits basket, weekend by taeyeon, and my melody mashed into one being. there's probably more but my brain is not working rn so let's just roll with it. please see below for some background information to get her going plus some potential plots. if you’re interested in working something out for our muses though, please leave a like and i’ll be running to your dms..? the chat...?? no i’m so serious, if someone can be kind enough to tell me how people communicate on tumblr dot com now you will be loved forever. like, i’m already scared of xkit as it is.

ah yes, yoshino harumi aka the saint at yeonhwa university.

meaning yes, chances are you could do the worst, and she'll still try to make the situation better. ("oh, you stabbed someone? ...well, did you hide the weapon? phew, because going to jail would push back your graduation date and we definitely can't have that.")

we love a compassionate girl.

born and raised in osaka, japan. currently living in south korea and has been for the last couple of years.

her father is a p famous actor who's starred in box office hits and tv shows. her mother was professional figure skater who represented japan in the olympics and won gold.

they got married, had harumi, everything was great and beautiful. literally, picture perfect family wow amazing.

then again, she has flashbacks of hearing her parents argue late nights when she's supposed to be sleeping and the poor girl would tell herself they're just passionately talking. whatever helped her sleep better at night ig.

in her late teen years, harumi's mother was in a fatal car accident. to this day, there is no concrete evidence of what happened to cause it in the first place. authorities kept it as her car messing up while driving and her father chose to leave it as such.

something about "it's better this way so that your mother can rest in peace."

and ofc harumi believed him, why would she question him??

a few months pass and word breaks out that her father is engaged to one of his costars from a series they filmed together years ago. rumors of a romance sparking between them came up while the show aired but nothing was ever confirmed.

oh but her son looks like her father. and harumi. so there's that.

despite all this, the girl can't bring it in herself to say anything mean about her father or her now step-mother. well, the latter she'll be wise to not say anything at all, but even then, she'll try to keep it superficial. but still means it?

tbh, she just doesn't like hearing the gossip about everything. to harumi, the less she hears or knows, the better.

ignorance is bliss, am i right? hence why she left japan to study elsewhere for university.

yeah ok so maybe she's a little on the naive and gullible side. what about it. wait wdym your muse is manipulating her and she doesn't see it that way? oof, can't wait for this to blow up in harumi's face wink wink nudge nudge.

break her heart. can be tied to the first one?? though this was thought of more in the romance sense. it's giving first love aka love at first sight aka wrong person, wrong time, toxic af, yadda yadda yadda. why? bc i like angst and this builds for character ok. we're trying to toughen her up ok!

speaking of toughening up, your muse tries to help her be mean back! or work on setting healthy boundaries. ...but with fists?? or clapbacks? maybe both?

language tutor pls. while her korean has improved, she could still work on a few things.

friends!! of any kind!! i'm yelling from the top of my lungs for opposites, similar hobbies (idk what hers are yet bear with me here), in the same clubs, anything!! in figure skating? great, they wipe out together during practice. in capella? they're working on details for the next fundraiser over drinks. we'll make things work!!

with that, we would absolutely adore a bestie she's had since moving to korea and someone she's totes comfortable with, enough to even talk about her parents? damn, if that ain't love then what is?

gaeum building neighbors! doesn't have a pet but maybe your muse does and convinces her to get one too? cue harumi going back and forth between a cat, a dog, and...a ferret?

she's not the best in cooking but she tries and your muse is her test subject. as each week passes by though, your muse feels as though her abilities are....worsening.

literally never played an online game before but she wants to give it a shot for the sake of your muse and their budding friendship. your muse realizes very, very quickly how much they'll be carrying harumi every single time they play.

your muse watches her practice in the dance studio and is mesmerized by how graceful and easy she makes it look. heck yeah, she'll show you a few moves! but first, they must stretch. wait, was that their hamstring that just ripped?

your muse catches her at her worst. i'm talking really bad day. woke up late. messed up so many times in her practice run for an ensemble. her notes from the latest capella meeting were wiped off her laptop. top it all off, it's the anniversary of her mother's death. power rangers voice: it's oversharing time!

yerim goes through the same routine each time she arrives home: shoes are placed neatly in their spot next to the door, her keys are hung up in their spot, her coat next to it. finishing it all off with a glance in the mirror, ensuring there’s no hairs out of place, no dishevelment of her clothing — still performing, if only for herself. the same motions every single day, the routine has turned into a ritual to end the day’s performance of sorts by now. 

a glance in the mirror confirms what is usually the case — she looks pristine, to anyone who glances her direction. (if one were to look closer, let ones eyes linger for longer than normal, it might reveal some cracks in the surface. but they’re well hidden — even yerim herself manages to convince herself they’re not there most days.) she’s about to pick up her bag off the floor, take it with her on her way to the kitchen, when a knock on the door startles her — she freezes, just for a moment, the intrusive sound unexpected. she doesn’t usually get visitors with no warning first. 

frowning, she lets the strap of her bag fall to the floor again, as she moves towards the door. opening it leaves her face to face with… her neighbor? at least she thinks it’s a neighbor — she’s sure she’s seen the girl around the building before, but truth be told, while yerim might be observant, she’s not particularly concerned with knowing who everyone on her floor is. in other words, she has no idea who this is, aside from her face being vaguely familiar. 

“hello.” she nods in greeting, a polite, somewhat stiff smile on her face. there’s a brief pause as yerim studies the girl more closely, and takes note of the cups in her hands. ah. must be missing some ingredients, and yerim was perhaps the unlucky one who’s being asked to lend some out. (well, that, or she’s already tried the whole floor, and yerim’s door is the last resort.)

“did you need something?” she asks, a curt nod towards the cups. the smile remains, though it’s somewhat friendlier in nature now. “i don’t usually carry the widest range of ingredients, but i can check if i have whatever you’re looking for.”

her spirits are immediately lifted the second there’s the slightest bit of a crack from the door. an excited gasp slips out, grin turning wider, as she’s now face to face with the other. there was always the possibility of being rejected and ignored, leaving her to stand awkwardly in front of a stranger’s door. but not than time! luck seemed to be in harumi’s favor. she was certain of this.

"oh, hello!" her voice came out a little bit too on the excited side. not her intentions, but also not out of the ordinary for her. her eyes take a quick scan of the young woman before her, gaze then catching the glimpse of her bag on the floor. a slight feeling of guilt for having interrupted her arrival to her own home sits with harumi for a brief moment before her attention is brought back to the other's face. "yes! however did you guess?" she giggles lightly under her breath, shoulders rising at her own silly and obvious question.

"you see, i'm making myself a snack before having to pull an all-nighter cram study session for this big exam tomorrow. making tteokbokki, to be exact." her explanation is followed up with her smile starting to curl downward into a frown, a sign that a misfortune had fallen upon her attempt at cooking. "i thought i had everything i needed but...turns out i ran out of sugar," harumi continues with a laugh, one that came out rather embarrassed to admit her own mistake.

her nails tap a short rhythm along the sides of the glass measuring cup. "if it's not too much to ask, that is. you just got home, right? i'm sorry for disturbing you right at this very moment," she apologizes with the upmost sincerity she could offer. "if need be, i can come back at a later time, though! once you're all nicey nice and settled in!" she begins to take a step back, body slowly turning back towards their hallway. the last thing she wanted to do was impose.

among the stereotypes that surround cheerleaders, the one that she finds the most annoying is the assumption that they’re always peppy and love social interaction. (this being the one that was weaponized against her after she originally rejected the invitation to come out.) she’s been at this party for a little over an hour now, and she can’t say that she’s enjoying herself. the music is giving her a headache, and she’s finding it difficult to breathe with all the bodies in the room. she gives another precursory scan of the room, lips forming a slight frown at the various sights of the party. with this many people, this party has to be a safety hazard.  

perhaps she would actually enjoy herself if her friends had stayed by her side (like they promised), but it only took them fifteen minutes after arrival to ditch her to do who knows what. they swore that they would come back, after all, there was someone they were dying to introduce to her, but seolran has a sinking suspicion that their words would remain a broken promise.

she kept herself busy by exploring the apartment and striking up conversations with the people around her, only to excuse herself after ten minutes by saying that she needed to refill her drink. (she wonders if any of them noticed that she never took a sip from her cup in the first place.) at this point, all she wants to do is go home. the only thing holding her back is the promise she made to head out with her friends. she could break this promise, much like she assumes they'll break theirs to her, but her annoying conscious won't let her leave in case something happens.

seolran tucks herself into a corner of the room, arms crossed, as she continues to observe the partygoers and their various antics. she's in the middle of taking a sip of her soda when harumi approaches. it takes a second for her mind to register that she's being spoken to, but she quickly nods in response. "yeah," she says breezily, eyes scanning the room once more before settling on the younger. seeing the warm smile, seolran reminds herself to play nice. she's bored and irritated at her friends, but she shouldn't take her feelings out on someone else.

she relaxes her body, turning to the side so that they're directly facing each other. "they saw someone they knew from another class and ran off to speak to them. haven't returned even though it's been 45 minutes. it is what it is," she says with a small shrug. "what about you?" she gestures to the crowd with a slight nod of her head. "how long have your friends left you to fend for yourself?"

a sigh of relief escapes her the second the other young woman confirms her suspicions. there’s something that puts her at ease knowing that there was another unfortunate soul trapped within the confines of this average college party. "probably the same as you. maybe longer." she tries lying to herself at first, making for light conversation. "…could be an hour. or two." the realization dawns on her that she had been completely and utterly disposed of this entire time, as noted by the slow drop of her facial features.

there’s a quick shake of her head, dismissing any sort of negativity that came from everything she had just said, and the same smile as before is right back on her face. "but who’s counting, right?" the pitch in her tone called for lighthearted humor. although forced, harumi figured it was the right time to do so.

rather than wait for the expected awkward silence to fall on them, she clears her throat and steps in just a bit closer to the other in order to ensure they were able to hear each other better. the music somehow got louder, or perhaps it was just the alcohol finally getting to her. "so…is this your first official party too? i’ve never been to one. not that i’m not invited to them or anything. it’s by choice! puuurely by choice." she brings the rim of the cup to her lips, a chuckle echoing through the inside of it.

she couldn’t tell if she was more excited or nervous to finally be able to speak to someone other than herself. at least she could tell her friends her efforts were not in vain. striking up a conversation with another lonely stranger, such as herself, surely should count as a win in anyone's book.

their paths don’t cross often, they’re in different clubs and majors, but seol remembers remarkable people. they don’t have to be particularly outstanding in terms of social status, their grades, or whatever; it could be their personality. the girl named harumi was one of them. an angel, too kind for her own good. a saint, even. it’s remarkable how in such a place, someone could be so innocent. people like her could be easily taken advantage of, but that’s only what seol sees on the surface. he doesn’t knows her, only ever the silent observer to those in the light.

“stuck? need an umbrella?” the earlier sunny weather had abruptly turned into pitter patters of rain, and it looks like it’s only going to get heavier. seol noticed the girl was stuck in the building, and it didn’t seemed like the girl has an umbrella with her. his umbrella is big enough for two people, why not offer it to the pitiful girl? so he gives a small smile, tilting his head to the side. “i don’t mind sharing it, i’m not in a rush to get to anywhere.” it’s a funny coincidence that now, he has an opportunity to speak with her.

"oh no...," she whines in disappointment out into the void. for a split second before leaving her dorm that morning, harumi debated on whether or not to take an umbrella with her. she usually carried one, for the just in cases, but something inside her told her not to. the weather had been so pleasant the last few days. who would have thought rain would come out at a time like this?

harumi braves the few drops of rain that blow in her direction as she steps out through the sliding doors of the hall, hands rising to form a makeshift cover for the top of her head. should she go further? risk getting soaked and possibly sick? waiting it out was also an option, but who knows how long the sudden rain would last. she could message a friend! ...if her phone wasn't on the verge of dying.

she's seen taking a step forward, then back, then forward again, and once more back. almost a dance, minus the background music. with a final breath, she's about to give up and just make a run for it, when a soothing voice halts her motion. her whole body turns to face him, her hands still held up above her head, as she looks up into the other's eyes. there's a sincerity behind his gaze, the kindness of this stranger causing a wide, thankful smile to appear. within a matter of seconds, harumi had been saved from enduring a sprint in the rain.

"oh! are you sure? i don't want to cause a burden or anything." she's seen him before, or at least she believes she has. she tries to remember from where or when, but regardless, something tells her that he's one of the good ones. after all, it's not every day a random stranger offers to share their umbrella with you.

if fashionably late was a person, it would find itself in stomping across campus in a pair of jimmy choo wedges, light wash ripped shorts, and a cropped baby tee. all of this made up the five foot three inches of han seoyun herself.

hell was a fake bleach blonde, indeed.

she doesn’t react much upon seeing her team crowded around the kissing booth; she ran the team like the navy with methods of tough love and expected nothing less than perfection of her girls, and that meant they knew to be at any meeting location before she got there.

she takes a long siiiiiiiiiip through the straw of her iced latte once she finally reaches the booth. a few second passes as she does a head count of the members before she finally speaks.

“i see everyone is here, that’s good.” there’s a small grin forming itself on her lips, her free hand perched on her hip. “that means i can tell you all the news together.”

she takes off her coach sunglasses and places them atop her head, eyes closed for the dramatics as she speaks. “i, han seoyun, your faithful captain… will not be participating in this little kissing booth, or whatever.” she rolls her eyes and lifts her hand up to stop any of the girls from opening their mouths, whether it be a gasp or whines of complaint leaving them. “i'm not done talking.”

“anyways… i’m still gonna be here, duh. i’m just not kissing anyone. there’s very little people on this campus that i would put my lips on.” seoyun shrugs nonchalantly, as if she wasn’t cheating the system that was made for all of the team captains. antares could personally kiss her ass if they really expected her to smooch every person who came up, regardless if it was on the cheek or not.

granted, there was one person but she doubt he would show up.

that cocky grin returns as she continues, “instead, i’ll kindly be asking you all to take my place for the kisses… and in return, i’ll be paying for everyone’s meals during our october competitions. yes, meals—all three of them. sounds good, hm?”

the rest of the girls erupted into small cheers at the announcement; it was rare for seoyun to treat the girls unless it was confirmed they were coming back to yeonhwa with trophies, so this was big. while everyone else was excitedly talking amongst themselves (because if it's one thing college students love, it's free food), seoyun finally made her way over to her assistant captain, arms crossed over her chest and a more relaxed expression than before.

“this whole thing feels totally up your alley. is there anyone you’ve been wanted to kiss for a bit?” as much as seoyun knew harumi looked up to her, she had no idea that she had been thinking about her having some big movie kiss. she was completely expecting harumi to be blushing and kicking her feet thinking about her own prince charming (or princess charming) swooping her off her feet after one kiss on the cheek.

there was something always so mesmerizing to harumi about the way seoyun not only carried herself, but also the way she interacted with others. especially when the others were the whole team. as the assistant captain, more than often the members would prefer to go to her with their concerns. something about running things by harumi first lessened the blow (read: wrath) from seoyun. the arrival of their captain to the kissing booth was no different.

she merely stood there, a cheesy grin plastered wide on her face, nodding to every word that seoyun spoke. the cheers from the girls had her laughing and clapping along with them. even if it meant having to step in for the captain's place for the kissing booth, harumi valued moments like these more than anything. it spoke true to seoyun's character, the hidden soft side that may be rare but shown and felt through her actions.

now with just the two of them off to the side, her head shakes dismissively in response to seoyun's questions. true, the kissing booth made her heart skip beats from the excitement, but the day wasn't about her. operation: get seoyun her fairytale ending was just starting.

"anyone i've been wanting to kiss?" she takes the moment to reconsider her initial answer, humming in thought as she really put her mind to it. after several seconds of silence, no one's name, or face popped up. "i can't say that i have. i wouldn't even be able to tell you when's the last time i'd gotten butterflies thanks to someone's presence," harumi adds in through a chuckle under her breath.

harumi looks around the area, eyes wandering to catch the glimpse of anyone with enough potential to step up to the plate and play as a contender for her captain's heart. making sure the coast was also clear from any eavesdroppers (the girls can get gossipy after all), harumi took it as the perfect opportunity to proceed with her plans. "though, i'm sure there's someone worthy of our seoyun's lips." she leans in closer, elbow gently knocking into the other's as a playful gesture, brows lifting in curiosity. what better way to see what she was working with than by scoping out the situation that is seoyun's love life.

a cup of sugar with yerim (@veritastrap) one fateful day during the school year

every month or so, harumi likes to challenge herself in the kitchen. growing up, she wasn't allowed near the stove. just able to watch from afar when the chefs or even her own mother would make their delicious meals. be it the aromatic scents that would catch her interest or the crackling sounds of something being fried, there was just something so appealing about cooking to her. and that is why she was now found in the kitchen of her dorm with her hands on her hips, an apron hung around her neck and tied around her waist, and loads of ingredients laid out on the counter.

she gives them a firm nod, as if confirming they understand how their duties will play out. how each of them will contribute to the sweet and spicy tastiness of the tteokbokki that'll come together in the grand finale. yes, she's staring off simple. she's still only an amateur after all. well, more like a novice. harumi did not have the heart to consider herself even the slightest bit above a novice. but that's neither here nor there. the fact that she is able to put her best foot forward when she gets the courage to start on a recipe shows her determination to continue forward!

"let's see, let's see. got the chili flakes, fish cakes, garlic, onion, green onion, sugar- ....sugar..." triple checking to ensure she has all the needed ingredients for the day's snack cravings, she pauses her thumb on her phone screen to where the list reads "sugar." she paces around the kitchen, opening all the cabinets and drawers, even taking a peek inside the fridge (just in case), but sugar was nowhere to be found. she could make a quick run to the store to buy some. no, that would take too long and at that point, she might as well order some take out.

grabbing one of the two cup glass measuring cups from the counter, harumi makes her way to the front door and pokes her head out with the hopes of catching a neighbor who just so happened to be in their respective dorms. luckily for her, she spots another student down the hall returning from who knows where. though, she looks familiar. not from one of her classes, but she's sure she has seen this girl around the building before. yerim was her name? it was moments like these she wishes her memory actually worked in her favor.

waiting until the coast was clear (and to not come off as some creep by anyone else who might have seen her lurking), harumi quietly walks over to the other's door and gives a gentle knock, already sporting her friendliest smile.

alternatively titled: the summer she went hopeless romantic?

summer - calvin harris

how can you have a summer playlist and not include one of the summer songs that has the word summer in the title? although not one of her top favorites from calvin harris, harumi will always find herself gravitating to this song once the hot weather comes around the corner. there’s something about it that makes her want to go out on the night town and experience the song at a club. …if she were the clubbing type of course.

gimmie! gimmie! gimmie! (a man after midnight) - abba

perhaps it was the movie mamma mia’s doing or the fact that her mother would play abba nonstop in their house, but harumi has a strong connection to this one in particular for summer. could be the rhythm itself or the lyrics even that makes her think that this is what a night out is meant to feel like. again, she's not quite the type to go out late. but won’t somebody please help her chase the shadows away?

shine - olly alexander (years & years)

when harumi yearns, she yearns. even if she’s not expecting to. shine is that perfect song for those moments when it's late at night in bed, wondering when her special person will arrive so that she'll finally be able to resonate with the oh so sweet lyrics. it can make her feel down in the dumps at times, but she's quick to think positively and tells herself that her time will come. one day.

not much a romance behind this one. just a carefree song that makes her feel at peace and at ease. something to listen to when she’s out on the beach and reading a good book or chilling out under the shade of a tree on campus. in fact, this is the song harumi’ll play in the middle of winter just to mentally transport herself to summer when she really needs to be in a happy place.

dreams - the cranberries

harumi considers this song as the “coming of age song” or “that song that plays when you (the main character) are in the back seat of a car with its hood back and your arms are stretched out just feeling that wind.” yeah, that kind of song. very much pictures this to play at the end of the movie and she sees life differently now but is more than content with how things played out because maybe, just maybe, this was how her life was mean to be.

everywhere - fleetwood mac

similar to the feeling that dreams brings plus the ones that shine gives. if that makes sense. another classic that her mother would play a lot, but the dreamy intro is what always pulls her in. never able to skip, if you catch harumi sighing when the airpods are in and she's looking off like she's lost somewhere, don't worry! it's just everywhere playing and she's currently daydreaming about some stranger who randomly appears before her and is asking for her hand in marriage.

i only want to be with you - tommy february6

although the lyrics are cute and lovey, she does not consider this song as one of her yearnings. rather, the vibe it gives off is summery and teen beach party to her. a big fan of tommy february6 in general (tends to give lonely in gorgeous a few listens too but not as much as this one), but with this one, you might find harumi singing and dancing around her room with a makeshift microphone (it's a hairbrush).

she's charming, when she gets like that, the little giggles that bubble up; it makes it a lot easier to play. he can laugh, too, when they die, when it all turns into a mess and there's nothing left to do but get a bit hysterical about how it's going. he needs people like that in his life... makes him forget how fucked up it all is.

"being the best at being the worst is also a skill." he chuckles along with her, an easy smile on his face (he tries very hard not to think about that sentence at length or in full). "you're the champion. i'm kind of like the mascot, i think. i'm here for the love of the game."

the zombies on screen are somewhat the least of his worries after a point, and truth be told, he's hardly paying attention himself. his mouse clicks, wrist moves, fingers click on autopilot now.

"ehhh," he hushes, a quiet and drawn out syllable. "my stats will recover eventually. besides if we keep at it, eventually you'll get better and then it's only a little more eventuallys, until you're even better than me. and then you can boost me up in every game we play."

he thinks about that; would their friendship grow if they took so long? time spent so frequently and yet what had come of it other than logging countless hours into a game they were hardly taking seriously. he listens to his game sounds and harumi's voice through the headset, strangely calmed by them. like a sensory deprivation tank, easy and buoyant. "we should totally stop soon though. i think i'm so hungry i could die. did you eat today or did you get lost in the gaming sauce?"

a loud, boisterous laugh erupts from her already grinning face at jisung's hypothetical scenario. her? suddenly better than him at this game? or any game for that matter? "in your dreams! the only game i can be better than you would be like...candy crush. or any equivalent," harumi retorts. her voice gives him little to fight back on. even if playful, they both knew the reality of things. the silent agreement that any game they should play together really meant jisung carrying her and harumi just there for the vibes.

as her character's mauled by a sudden swarm of zombies, she breathes out a defeated sigh and slumps back against her seat. she glances over to the corner of her computer screen, taking note of how late it was. another hum, this one considering on how to answer. "i wouldn't say 'lost,' but it has been some hours since my last meal." rather than return to the area where she was ultimately brought to her death, she had her character run in circles in the respawning spot.

that was when it hit her. "why? do you want to go out for some late night snacking?" there's a bit of a tease when she asks him. "are you thinking of cashing out one of your coupons then? rumi's treat?" her hands retract from the keyboard and mouse to snatch up her phone and begins to tap away on the screen. without waiting for him to even answer any of her previous questions, harumi's quick to search for someplace nearby that was open. "ah, okay. so we have old reliable chik chik or we can always venture to find the closest 7-11 for some girl dinner." her head lifts to the computer screen, expectedly waiting for his reply, and as though they were on a video call.

(': anyway, this is me v much trying me best to get back into things here bc i am going to try my dang hardest to get the ball ROLLING again. i know i have messages respond to (i'm so sorry...) and one (1) thread reply to post (cries this is so sad), but i will be getting back to everyone and everything very shortly. for faster replies though, you may add me on dc (pixilated) whether we started plotting here or not! on the plus side, i finally got harumi's profile done (yay!) and even got a pintrest thing for her (double yay!), but her connections and background are still wips (booooo!). in the meantime, this is a fresh plot call of sorts?? especially if we haven't plotted yet or i seemed to have missed you on the first post. that's all i got for now. thank you for reading this and i hope we get to writing soon! i will do better this time, i swear!!! ;;;;

lonely together with seolran (@blvebeary) some end of the semester party

the loud bass from the stereos was rather deafening, and as much as she tried her best to find a space in the entire apartment that allowed her to hear her own thoughts, all of harumi's attempts were unsuccessful. she also wasn't sure which made things worse: how tightly packed the place was with the never ending lines of people strolling in at every hour or the fact that she's somehow managed to lose sight of any of her friends. the same friends that convinced to going out with them as an end of the semester hurrah. they knew very well that harumi wasn't the partying type, but she did have trouble with saying no to others. harumi also told herself that maybe this time would be the time she would have lots of fun! granted, she always found fun in anything (for the most part at least) but there was no harm in a little party kind of fun.

except this wasn’t a little party. why she ever thought it would be, beyond her. but now, harumi was stuck in the corner of what she believes to be the living room, surrounded by strangers. she’s even sure that there were people there that never attend a class at yeonhwa. whoever the party host was must have big connections, she figures.

harumi takes in a deep breath of courage and steps out of her comfort corner to scramble her way through and out the front door for some well needed fresh air. with the standard red plastic cup in her hand filled with (by now diluted) tequila, she dips, dodges, and weaves her way between everyone in her path. from the “drunk of out their minds and were now dancing way off beat” group of friends and the…wait, was that couple actually trying to do the deed out in the open like that? harumi shudders at the realization, but quickly brushes it off. it wouldn’t be the first time something as scandalous as that were to occur at a party such as this. regardless, she managed to get through all kinds of clusters and groups of people with such skill and grace, it wasn’t long before harumi found herself…right back in the corner she started.

her shoulders slump in defeat, a disappointed sigh escaping as she leans back into her former position. harumi takes a sip from her cup, the burn in her throat making her forget of the absolute let down that was her getaway plan. another sigh slips out and her head casually turns to the side, spotting a lone figure standing not too far. the other young woman looked…bored out of her mind. poor thing, harumi thinks to herself. a warm, welcoming smile takes over her features as she approaches the unfamiliar face. “did your friends ditch you, too?”

just like the movies with seoyun (@moncoeurseo) yeonchella, some time saturday afternoon

harumi stood amongst her fellow figure skating team members with a rather goofy looking smile plastered on her face. the team was waiting for their captain's turn at the kissing booth in the case she needed any sort of assistance, breaks, lip scrubs. for any little thing, really. whatever their captain wanted it, they got it covered! now, all they needed was...well, their captain. harumi's ears buzzed from the whispers her members shared. she could make out some of them panicking over the possibility of have to step in for seoyun when her shift began if she never made it, while the others were panicking more so about her wrath if she were late and it was one of their faults. not actually, but it would somehow turn out that way.

eventually, she tuned them all out and placed her attention back to the kissing booth itself. it had been the first time harumi saw anything like it. the only time the concept of a kissing booth had been presented to her was in movies and shows, all of which always somehow ended up with the main characters having some sort of conflict only for them to get over themselves and officially become a couple. harumi remembers being sucked into the dramatization each time of what romance is (supposedly) meant to be, feeding into her delusions of the secret hopeless romantic she was deep inside.

but now wasn't the time for that! not for her own love story, that is. truth be told, harumi held such high hopes that her own precious captain and good friend, seoyun, would find her perfect match at the kissing booth and they'd have a happily ever after! or at least have fun at the rest of yeonchella. either or would do. she giggles excitedly at the thought, clearly daydreaming any and all variations of romcom scenes that could unfold for seoyun.

the collective whisper from the other girls suddenly grew louder and it could only mean one thing. harumi's head turned in the direction the team was facing now, easily spotting a disgruntled seoyun approaching then. "seoyun!" the ecstatic ring in her tone carried through the air, still picturing the team captain as the female lead of the same romcom she's concocted in her head. "it's almost your turn!"

jisung leans back in his desk chair and it creaks and so, too, does his will to live (that's a bit exaggerated, he just lets out a tired sigh). "harrrrrumi," he drags out the syllables of her name, a soft chuckle amending half way through and shifting a whine into something lighter. "stay with me, yeah?" he leans forward since he's respawned (they're playing games tonight, again, because it's an easy escape), and waits for her to pop-up on screen next to him. they'd been wiped out at the same time completely no where near each other. "we keep dying. it's a skill at this point maybe; how fast and often we're dropping dead," his words are littered with amusement and a sort of easy-goingness as he walks his character in circles around her good-naturedly.

despite the sheerly impressive loss-win ratio they'd accrued together since they became gaming buddies (they're on a frankly insane losing streak), jisung is in a good enough mood. their friendship was as surface level as they come in some ways, but games make it safe and fun. carrying (is it even possible to carry her at this point?) harumi is honest time well spent. he adjusts his headset and from them on, the sound of his keys clicking and his furious mouse clicking could only barely be picked up by the call they were in.

"are you having fun at least?" he asks, gently, his dimples appearing with his smile though she's not there to see them. he listens for her voice and stops to subtle protect her from the waves of zombies that are slowly losing in around them on the screen.

a distraught whine is caught in harumi's throat upon the nth time they've ended in defeat. she's lost count at this point. it was about that time of the gaming session in which the two would continue for rounds on end, just one more until they landed the win, though it was obvious they were both in it for the laughs by now. "i'm trying to, jisuuung~," she responds cheerily once her character spawns back into the game and beside his. light giggles filter through her headset as she watches him circle her, making her character attempt at following his direction. "there must a record for the highest number of deaths in this game, and we, the champions." her tone was proud in order to bring some lighthearted humor.

the game picks up and a comforting silence falls between them, focus now on the zombies that were threatening from every which way. absentmindedly, the only sounds that were coming from harumi were the imitations she made of all the sound effects her ears could capture. from the weapons landing their hits onto enemies to the comical cries of perishing zombies, harumi was absorbed in her own little world. aside from the one they were both immersed in, at least.

her attention is brought back by the sound of his voice, responding instinctively with an affirmative hum. harumi creates some distance between her character and his and starts to heal in order to resume her zombie slashing techniques. or rather, keyboard smashing and high hopes that something connects. "it's always fun with jisung around," she answers him in her bestest and sincerest harumi voice. "i just feel bad sometimes for making your stats go down."
